10.01.2022 Get To Know Our Team Starting at RSM in 2008 as a bookkeeper Alison Lefroy has been enjoying the accounting side of commerce even though she has a Marketing/Management degree from Curtin University. Alison details her experiences living on a farm in the wheatbelt below. ... What’s the most interesting job you have had? Learning the ‘hands on’ tasks of farming when I was first married was interesting for a city girl. Mulesing was not my favourite farm job that is for sure. Now I am confident in the sheep yards and loading the trucks! Home town & places you have lived? I lived in Perth until I married my husband Stewart and then moved to his family farm in Walebing in 1991. Your favourite travel destination? Anywhere, but for overseas travel New York, Paris and visiting some of the WW1 sites on the Western Front have been highlights. You can’t beat Rottnest for a great local get away. Favourite movie? Probably a comedy like Bridesmaids. Do you play any sports/Hobbies? I used to play tennis and netball when I was at school but haven’t really played much sport at all since. I really like walking and bush walking. Sporting Highlight? My husband and I completed the inaugural 100km Oxfam Trailwalker in 2013 which was a great sense of achievement. Greatest personal achievement? Apart from my children and family, it would be the restoration work we have done at Walebing. We have a number of heritage listed buildings that require constant attention. It has been a lot of effort, but the buildings are all quite sound now, so that has been really rewarding. If you could wake up tomorrow as an expert in something, what would it be? I would like to speak a foreign language or play a musical instrument. If you could only have 3 apps on your smart phone what would they be? Instagram, Twitter and Podcast App Current Netflix or Stan binge show? Just started on Schitts Creek which is fantastic! Weirdest food you have ever eaten? I am not very adventurous with food, so pretty much stick to mainstream foods. Are you an early bird or night owl? Probably more of a night owl. Alison is pictured below with her husband Stewart and their children Lucy, Jack and Emily.

09.01.2022 Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020-21 Budget was deferred from May to October. Over those six months, the changing economic landscape has created a recession and arguably the most severe economic crisis since the Great Depression. The government has set this budget to drive a business-led recovery, with a focus on new investment by business. Tax measures that will impact your business are many, but the instant asset write-off is front and centre. Judy Snell explains the instant asset write-off further in the article below.

Ramon details his experiences as an accountant below.... When did you join RSM and what is your role? 1st April 2009. I have worked my way up to Senior Manager. Did you always know you were going to be an accountant? Originally I wanted to be an airforce pilot; I completed the appropriate level of physics and maths at high school and fit the physical requirements. I was ready to enlist until my mum guided me in another direction. Accounting was always my main focus for university study; with my family having a few small businesses I always considered it a highly useful skill to possess. I moved to Perth to complete high school and university. Following the completion of my studies at Curtin University in 2008 I returned to the family farm for 12 months. In 2009 I joined the team at RSM Moora. In 2012 RSM opened a branch in Karratha where I took the opportunity of a new role. Moving back to Perth in 2016. Your favourite travel destination? Loved Kauai on the Islands in Hawaii; hiking along its mountain tracks on the West Coast as rain showers blew in and over us was pretty unforgettable. Favourite movie? Breaking the P.S.A 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay record in year 9; or winning in the same event in year 12 and sealing the P.S.A cup for Hale. We walked back the length of the pool in what is now HBF arena to a standing ovation. Greatest personal achievement? Becoming a father to my two boys If you could wake up tomorrow as an expert in something, what would it be? Self Defence If you could only have 3 apps on your smart phone what would they be? Facebook, google chrome and messenger Current Netflix or Stan binge show? I just completed Emily in Paris and found it very easy watching on Netflix. Cartoon President on Stan is very funny to watch. Are you an early bird or night owl? An early bird from the beginning but having kids has definitely taught me how to be both Ramon is pictured with his wife Jemma and their boys George and Hamish.
