02.05.2022 Rescued from sickness and nursed back to health It's only with the support of animal lovers that Millie is living a healthy and happy life. Help us rescue mor...e Millie's by donating today: https://bit.ly/39ch8Qp RSPCA Inspectors were made aware of a breeder selling sick puppies. Puppies that, in some cases, would even pass away just hours after arriving at their forever home. Showing no care for the puppies' health, RSPCA Inspectors urgently needed to locate the breeders. After extensive investigation, Inspector Steffi was able to locate the breeder's home. Inside, Steffi located French Bulldogs confined to small cages and suffering in misery. Puppies like Millie had been removed from their mum at just 2-weeks-old and were being kept in a plastic shell in a separate room. Millie and her siblings were severely suffering, fighting for every breath to stay alive. They had worsening pneumonia but, thanks to the animal-loving community, they were rescued. That day Inspectors liberated the French Bulldogs from their ongoing pain and torment. Taken to the RSPCA they received urgent medical attention for a large range of eye conditions, skin issues, breathing problems and more. Finally, in the safety of hands that truly care, Millie and the other French Bulldogs could receive kindness. Please show your kindness for animals like Millie Donate today: https://bit.ly/39ch8Qp

24.02.2022 Duggee is a 22-month-old Australian Cattle Dog who has energy to burn and then some! He is not coping in the shelter so we are desperate to find him a suitable new home. He was helping out in the office this week and he kept everyone amused! :) He would be perfect for an active owner or family who are prepared for the demands of a working breed dog. They need lots of exercise and activity to keep them busy and wear them out! Duggee has... LOTS of drive - he is not suited to anyone who is unsteady on their feet. Duggee's adoption fee is just $200. He is desexed, microchipped, treated for worms and fleas and his vaccinations are current. He is also covered by the RSPCA's 14-day Health and Return Policy. If Duggee sounds like the right pet for your family, fill out an expression of Interest form here: https://www.rspcaqld.org.au/adopt/search/animaldetails

22.01.2022 #happytail Meet Legion (formerly Newton) who came into our care at about two months ago as a flighty and fearful juvenile. But with lots of love and attention he slowly came out of his shell and he was adopted a few days ago by Cara from Bray Park. "Legion aka Newton has settled in really well. He has bonded with our other cat and they love playing. His favourite toy is the cat toy on the stick, to the point that he plays with it by himself... and I will come home and they are sitting in the middle of my floors. He is eating really well and was surprisingly good when we bathed him. I even wore long rubber gloves in case he wanted to claw me but he didn't even try!" Thanks Cara. He sure looks confident and settled now. Thanks for taking him home. Good luck Legion!

22.01.2022 HEATWAVE WARNING Start freezing those enrichment packs! Temperatures are set to soar across Queensland this weekend. Remember your pets! OUR TOP TIPS: All... pets should have an ample supply of shelter and water and do not tether your dog in the backyard. Never exercise your pet during the heat of the day. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to take your dog for a walk in summer and steer clear of hot bitumen. Never leave your pet unattended in a car or on a ute! Watch for signs of heatstroke in your pet! Flat faced dogs (Brachycephalic breeds) are more susceptible. Don’t forget our wildlife! Leave extra containers of water out for birds and smaller animals. If you see an animal in distress contact our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). For more tips (for all animals) see: www.rspcaqld.org.au//pet-ca/keeping-all-types-of-pets-cool

12.01.2022 RSPCA Animal Ambulance Rescue Impeccable spotting done by Gina, a member of the public, led to a teary and heartwarming reunion between pet and owner. While... travelling at 90km/h on the Motorway at Deagon Deviation, Gina noticed a small figure dragging itself along the road before disappearing. After contacting RSPCA QLD, Rescue Officer Sam and volunteer Chris were dispatched. Searching high and low it wasn’t until eagle-eyed Chris spotted a fluffy tail poking out the bottom of the rounded end of the guard-rail that Portia the cat was found. It was clear she was in a lot of pain. Thankfully, she was microchipped (and the details kept up-to-date) allowing her to be returned home to her relieved family and immediately off for veterinary care. Portia had jumped from her third-story balcony during the night and broken her leg. Her leg had suffered irreparable nerve damage and needed to be amputated. Now a three-legged wonder who has fully recovered, Portia is still able to run and play as she could before! If you see a sick, trapped, injured or orphaned animal, call our RSPCA animal emergency line on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) available 24/7.

10.01.2022 One year on, following the finalisation of a Nov 2019 RSPCA prosecution, horses Rory and Baby are recovered and ready for a forever home. Baby, a three year ol...d quarter horse mare and Rory, an eleven year old thoroughbred gelding, have been in foster care in Townsville for a year as the case rolled on. The former owners, Anthony and Tania Smith were each fined $3,500 and prohibited from owning animals for four years after pleading guilty to charges relating to failing to feed and failing to treat injuries. Foster carer Yvette has said they’re both beautiful horses and very friendly, Rory is an absolute sweetheart and they both come running for food. Baby is a quick learner, she hasn’t actually been broken in yet, but she has huge potential. They’ve been through a lot, but we’re excited for their second chance. We’re tremendously grateful to Yvette and it’s outcomes like these that make it all worthwhile. You can see the profiles of Rory and Baby online at www.rspcaqld.org.au/adopt before applying to adopt. 09.01.2022 A day in the life of an RSPCA Animal Ambulance Volunteer Jumping into the Brisbane City Council supported Animal Ambulance, volunteer Ian starts his shift w...ith the rescue of a baby possum injured by a cat. On its capture and return to our Wildlife Hospital, it seemed to be smooth sailing before the typical shenanigans really began. Called to his second job, Ian and the team including a lending hand from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES, were faced with a common task - capture a baby plover stuck down a drain. The catch? The baby's family were nearby and very protective... Ian was assigned the difficult task: keeping the family distracted and as calm as possible while the baby could be freed. Not long later and it was another successful rescue counted for the day. To round out his shift Ian was tasked with a round of vet and community pick-ups. However, after arriving at one location Ian found an empty box and a Kingfisher bird flying around the ceiling. It's never a dull day when you're helping animals. If you’re keen to hop on the road and join the RSPCA Animal Ambulance team, apply to volunteer at www.rspcaqld.org.au/volunteer/volunteer-positions
