25.01.2022 Hosting a Cupcake Day fundraising event means rescue for pets like Loki https://bit.ly/2FflSpN Loki was just a puppy when he was rescued by RSPCA Inspectors fro...m a house full of 34 neglected dogs and puppies. Stepping through the front door where a breeders licence was on display, RSPCA Inspectors were overwhelmed with a pungent odour. It was confronting. More than 30 animals were living in putrid conditions, suffering from a range of medical issues. These dogs needed urgent help! Twenty puppies were inside the dwelling, all appearing to be hungry as one puppy dug through a pile of rubbish for food. No food or clean, dry bedding were provided for the puppies. All animals were seized by our Inspectors that day. Back at the RSPCA Animal Hospital, Little Loki ate ravenously when provided food. Like many others seized that day, he suffered from a heavy worm burden, anaemia and a low body temperature due to the neglect he endured. Now Loki is finally able to live the life he always deserved. Drew and Emily had been looking for a staffy to adopt when they spotted Loki at the RSPCA. Drew said, He came running straight up to us. He just looked up to us with those beautiful big eyes. We thought he was just perfect. He was the one. Describing Loki as the best dog Drew said, Hes very good natured, he doesnt bark or growl. I take him to the beach. He just loves people. By supporting RSPCA Cupcake Day, youre helping to end animal cruelty and ensuring that dogs like Loki never have to suffer again: https://bit.ly/2FflSpN

08.01.2022 With the weather gearing up for a tick friendly time, pet owners need to be alert Checking your pets daily for ticks is a life saver. Take the time to check... those ‘hidden’ places like under the collar, between toes and inside their ears and mouth. If your pet has paralysis in their back legs, an unsteady or staggering walk, a dry cough, or even just a change in their bark or meow, contact your vet immediately and start the search for a paralysis tick. If you do find a tick on your pet, call your vet for instruction to remove the tick quickly and get treatment. Keep your pets protected this summer. RSPCA QLD use on our pets and recommend products like Bayer's water-resistant Seresto tick and flea collars. Find a suitable solution for you with RSPCA World for Pets www.worldforpets.com.au For more on ticks, read our blog - www.rspcaqld.org.au//pet/what-you-need-to-know-about-ticks

06.01.2022 Our wildlife are in crisis. As we enter Spring it brings with it wildlife trauma season, a time where we see our RSPCA Wildlife hospitals and rehab facilities o...verrun with the critically injured. Where cases jump from 34 a day to 88 every single day. You can make a difference, donate today: https://bit.ly/31P24lJ Hector is one of the lucky ones. Despite his rather large size of 5kg Hector still wasnt seen by the car who hit him. Taken to the local vet for immediate triage, the RSPCA are called in for the collection, treatment and rehabilitation of these delicate patients. Hector escaped with only superficial wounds, a rare sight in these cases. Despite his incredible luck, it was still more than a week of close monitoring and veterinary treatment before he would graduate to a more relaxed rehabilitation phase and eventually, Hector will be ready for release. RSPCA Qld runs the largest and busiest wildlife hospital in Queensland caring for more than 22,000 wildlife every year. Our resources are stretched thin and we need your help. Will you donate and save a life like Hectors today? https://bit.ly/31P24lJ

04.01.2022 HEATWAVE WARNING Start freezing those enrichment packs! Temperatures are set to soar across Queensland this weekend. Remember your pets! OUR TOP TIPS: All... pets should have an ample supply of shelter and water and do not tether your dog in the backyard. Never exercise your pet during the heat of the day. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to take your dog for a walk in summer and steer clear of hot bitumen. Never leave your pet unattended in a car or on a ute! Watch for signs of heatstroke in your pet! Flat faced dogs (Brachycephalic breeds) are more susceptible. Don’t forget our wildlife! Leave extra containers of water out for birds and smaller animals. If you see an animal in distress contact our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). For more tips (for all animals) see: www.rspcaqld.org.au//pet-ca/keeping-all-types-of-pets-cool

03.01.2022 Simple scraps from the table can turn your world upside down. It’s not just toxicity you need to consider when feeding your pets extra treats from the table ...this festive season. Tex, a 4 year old Boxer mix was rushed to veterinary care earlier this year with an obstruction. The culprit? A corn cob With his owners unable to cover the costs of his treatment, Tex was sadly surrendered and transferred to RSPCA care. Tex hadn’t eaten in a week and was vomiting. The corn cob had become stuck in his stomach and caused significant damage. Luckily, the surgery was a success and Tex was able to find a loving forever home soon after Be careful this festive season, and if in doubt leave it out of your dog's bowl.

02.01.2022 Just a few more adoptions from yesterday... Speedy, Kitty & Samuel :) so happy to see some of our longer term cats find their forever homes, what a great start to the new year :)
