23.01.2022 Good afternoon all, I hope that you had a safe and productive week. We are still moving forward with completing existing and new works whilst managing risk, through various controls during the Covid19 outbreak.... Here is a 992G rock bucket that was dispatched last week, that we completed a monster overhaul on. The team at Component Works can turn a pig’s ear into a silk purse metaphorically speaking. 572 man hours where utilised to remove all cracking and fatigued steel, repair cracking as per the NDT report, install new section of floor, Linebore the attachment bores, blast/paint and the fitment of a nylon liner to the bucket floor, to protect the bucket from abrasive material and extend the service life. A great outcome from all involved. For all your earthmoving repair requirements get in contact with us today. Cheers and have a great weekend. #componentworks #mackay #fabrication #welding

22.01.2022 Hi all. I really need to get better at this FB caper, though we have been flat out like lizards drinking. Here are some of the jobs that we completed this month. Our TA Jake has done an outstanding job with the presentation of these components. We set our standards high and ensure that our overhauled components look like they are new from the factory, if not better. The way I see it is, if a customer recieves a mildly satisfactory presentated overhauled component, they will ...doubt the internal quaility even if it is a quality build. So we complete quaility rebuilds above the CAT reusability guidlines and present... a work of art. Please share our post to get the word out about the quaility work, that RT Component Works are doing. Cherrs

With 2 holes for each end of the shaft making 2 meters of drilling, this job will test your nerves. Alex has shown that he is up to the task. He’s a bright and diligent worker. Don’t tell him I said that.

15.01.2022 Good afternoon all. here are some photos of a 789 CAT transmission that we overhauled this month. The failed trans was a low houred overhaul that was losing drive in 1st and 3rd gears. We stripped the trans down and found that the number one clutch oil supply pipe was cracked and once the two retaining bolts were un done it completely snapped off. ... The crack in the pipe caused a loss of oil pressure when the number one clutch was engaged, in 1st, 3rd and 5th gears. The loss of supply oil caused the clutch to fail. When assembling these transmissions it is very important to replace these pipes on each overhaul and use the correct tooling to achieve correct alignment of the lube pipe during assembly. The tooling stops the pipe from moving until the number four clutch housing is installed, which is were the other end of the pipe bolts to. Without the correct tooling fitted during the bolt tensioning process for the number three clutch it will also cause the pipe to move from the correct orientation and crack under operational vibrations. This can be a very expensive experience for maintainers and equipment owners.

09.01.2022 Here are some snaps of the D11T track frames that we are repairing to zero hours ATM. This set was in poor condition from high operating hours. All but four of the 32 bogie pins had to be either pressed out in half, by gouging out the welds on the front and back of the pins then pressed out, or by lancing and gouging. Some of the major bogie pins were that worn that they had collapsed. We measured all the bores throughout and will have to reclaim every major and minor bogie ...bore and reclaim the cannon key housings, pivot bores, cannon seal bores, cannon key ways and faces. Thats over 100 bores to be repaired. One of the recall springs is measuring under spec and will have to be replaced as well. Shes a big contract.

09.01.2022 Good morning all and happy Thursday. Here are some updated pics of the 992G bucket that we are currently overhauling. Our team have been putting in a huge effort to complete this overhaul on time and have pushed through some very hot and humid days in the past few weeks. Well done and thanks gents.... As you can see this has been quite a large repair. A section of flooring 1950 x 1500 had to be replaced due to cracking that was caused by poor internal weld procedures and design floors. The more we removed pieces of material and defects the more we found that had to be repaired. We have all learnt a lot on this job and would like to thank our customer for trusting us with this overhaul. Cheers and have a great day.

02.01.2022 Good afternoon all and happy Thursday. This is a long and scary post. We had a customer bring in his site truck on a tilt tray this morning with a snapped drag link, that snapped whilst turning into his drive way yesterday. Said truck is a new model with only 50,000 km on the clock. We placed the truck on stands are removed the ball studs that the drag link connects to and found that the link had been cracked for some time, due to discolouration and rust on the link where th...e crack formed. He was lucky that this did not happen whilst he was traveling down the highway just moments before at 100KM an hour, whilst towing a 4 tonne loaded trailer. Josh himself or an innocent family could of easily been fatally injured. Please be vigilant with your vehicles and equipment and have them serviced and checked regularly by a reputable company or tradesman. This incident could have been life changing for many parties involved. Cheers and have a great day.

02.01.2022 Here is part of a CAT 789 transmission that we have disassembled ATM. The pistons and clutch housings are on their way to be repaired at one of our local suppliers machine shop.

01.01.2022 There was a fatality at a Bowen Basin coal mine at 10.30pm last night. It sadens me that someone has tragically passed in a work place accident, in a time were we should be at home with our loved ones. What a terrible start to the year for the victims family, first responders and work mates. Instead of being with family and friends on hollidays, birthdays and spiceal events. we have all at some point sacrificed our time and missed out on spiceal events to work away and earn ...a little more then the average wage. We do this In hope of supporting our families and aim to provide a comfortable and enjoyable life, or to give our children the things that we didnt have growing up. Please remember that no job or money is worth a life. No one deserves to die at work. If a task is dangerous, or you are feeling fatigued, or have somthing dark on your mind, stop the job and reassess. No management or supervisor can force you to keep on working, nor wants a disabling injury or fatality on their hands at the end of the day. Machine availability, KPI's or BCM's required to be moved ECT, to keep employers or share holders happy is worth a life. Please keep safe at work and at home. I hope that everyone has a rewarding 2019 and achieves all their goals.
