21.01.2022 We're so glad to be welcoming 2021 with you all! Here's to another year with the Loco Division!

20.01.2022 Here some light reading to enjoy as we gear up for 2021!

17.01.2022 Our members will keep the public safe, even if the Government will not. We will not put commuters at risk by operating dangerous trains. We are advising all commuters who use the intercity network to make alternative travel plans on Friday and Sunday to avoid possible disruption.

16.01.2022 At a meeting of the NSW Legislative Council yesterday, NSW Labor Member Hon. Mark Buttigieg spoke in Parliament on the Order for Papers concerning the New Intercity Fleet (NIF). The Order was passed at 24 Ayes and 17 Noes. Locomotive Divisional Secretary, Robert Hayden, has responded, saying: "We will continue to seek ways to hold NSW Trains, Transport for NSW, and the State Government accountable for their decisions and explicit disregard of the views of their employees." 14.01.2022 The Ban on Overtime and the Ban on Piloting Duties started at 8 am on Thursday morning. What does this mean? From 8 am on 5 November 2020, any Pacific National Employee that is an RTBU Member, covered by the Pacific National Intermodal Outsourced Enterprise Agreement, started exercising their legal rights by refusing to work overtime and do piloting duties. These are protected industrial action items that YOU voted for and Pacific National cannot force you to do. This will last until 8:00am on 26 November 2020. Read the full newsflash below.

13.01.2022 Tonight Channel Nine will air an exclusive on the New InterCity Fleet, the NSW Government's latest transport bungle. With a $1 billion budget blowout, a massive list of safety hazards and a raft of Non-Disclosure Agreements gagging workers and advocates, this project is a disgrace from start to finish. Watch the full story tonight.

13.01.2022 The union has written to Premier Berejiklian urging her to delay the NIF rollout until hazards outlined in the independent safety assessment are addressed. We cannot allow unsafe trains on our tracks. If the Government won't stand up for public safety, the workers will!

13.01.2022 Negotiations between the RTBU and Momentum continue to be difficult. Things are also moving at glacial speed, with meetings being held every fortnight for a maximum of two hours (sometimes less than this). Your RTBU Negotiating Team will continue to bargain in good faith to achieve the best outcomes for current and future Members. Your RTBU Negotiating Team will continue to bargain in good faith to achieve the best outcomes for current and future Members.

10.01.2022 The Hon. Mark Buttigieg MLC will be on Channel 9 News tonight for a story on the NIF. Remember to tune in tonight to see what he has to say!

10.01.2022 What a year it's been! A big thank you to all of you for your amazing efforts. The Loco Division wishes you all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of holidays!

08.01.2022 The initial NIF safety report was conducted from the UK by someone who has never sighted the train or seen it in action. This farce makes a mockery of public safety. The independent report makes it very clear: the NIF places commuters at unacceptable risk of injury. Read the full Newcastle Herald article in the comments.

07.01.2022 NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet defended the government’s decision to cap wage increases for the public sector at 1.5% over the coming years, calling it a generous policy. This comes after a damaging temporary wage cut to a mere 0.3% for the next 12 months. The lowered cap was agreed in state cabinet on Monday as a way to save billions during the COVID-19 economic crisis. By saying this publicly, the state Treasurer has revealed contempt for public sector workers as a result; a major disrespect to those who are integral to supporting NSW through the pandemic.
