20.01.2022 I came to the Melbourne Campus tonight to deliver some books for students to pick up. Knowing that there will be no face-to-face classes here for at least the next few weeks made the place feel a little eerie. That is until I saw this college photo on a shelf next to my office. It was a powerful reminder that the RTC is much more than this building, or the Geelong campus for that matter. When all is said and done, we are first and foremost a community gathered together to glo...rify God by learning and growing together. The RTC is about people. This is not changed by the fact that we will primarily encounter each other through Zoom screens for the foreseeable future: Christ is still King, the gospel is precious and it is good to be on this journey together! Physical distance cannot change any of these things. So until we meet in the flesh again, enjoy your studies, care for those who need a helping hand and keep pointing an uncertain world to the Living Hope! Greetings in Christ, Phillip (Numbers 6:24-26) See more

09.01.2022 "One thing I really like about RTC is the way that the conversation in class will continue over lunch and over your morning tea breaks. It doesn't feel like a manufactured stop-start effort where once class is done, thinking is done. In life we're not reading a theology book and leaving it at theology. Theology affects the way that we live, affects the way that we speak... and I see that being played out in the way we do our subjects here at RTC." - Louis, RTC student Explore semester 2 study options at rtc.edu.au/study

06.01.2022 As you may know, my husband John de Hoog went to be with Jesus on Sunday after bravely battling cancer. He was dearly loved by his whole family and will be grea...tly missed. A tribute to John's life will be held in Geelong on Thursday 9 July at 2:00pm, with limited attendance due to COVID-19. The memorial service will be live-streamed on Facebook. You may view the service online at https://www.facebook.com/Memorial-Service-for-John-de-Hoog-103141878141446, starting at 2:00pm AEST. John loved the work of the International Justice Mission, whose goal is to end slavery around the world. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to their cause. https://ijm.org.au/

06.01.2022 As the fabric of society is stretched and pulled, we continue to ask our student leaders for their perspective. RTC: How do you find hope in these unsettling and uncertain times? Aleesha: I dont know about you, but I have found the past few weeks to be really unsettling, anxiety-provoking, and just plain weird. With so much change to so many aspects of community life and church, as well as my own work, study and relationships, its felt like there has been something new to a...djust to every single day. Amongst all the uncertainty, I have found great encouragement and hope by reading through the Psalms. The writers continually remind us to put our hope in God (Ps 42:11 & 43:5), in the Lords unfailing and steadfast love (Ps 147:11 & 33:18), and in the Lords word (Ps 119:81 & 130:5). Starting each day in the Psalms has been a delight. It has set my day with a new perspective as I realise again the beauty and faithfulness of our good and steadfast God. Its my prayer that the students and community of RTC would use this unsettling time to meditate on the promises of God in his word, to hold fast to the hope we have in Jesus Christ, and that we would be people who live lives marked by the loveliness, grace and hope of the gospel. Thanks Aleesha!

01.01.2022 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. John de Hoog after a prolonged battle with cancer. John was a dearly loved colleague and friend and he will be sorely missed. Johns association with the RTC goes back several decades. He trained here, receiving his BD in 1991. After his studies John ministered in CRCA churches in Sydney, Canberra and Geelong, while at the same time obtaining two masters degrees (at Moore College and the Australian College of Theolo...gy). He was appointed as lecturer in Old Testament in Hebrew in 2011 and has filled this role with distinction. His students will long remember his deep love for the Word, his Christocentric focus on teaching the Old Testament and his unique ability to teach the Hebrew language, even to those who dont do languages! As a colleague John was an incredibly hard worker who was always ready to take up new challenges with diligence, good humour and creativity. While this is a desperately sad time we can rest in the fact that John entered his eternal home and that we, therefore, do not grieve as those without hope (cf. 1 Thessalonians 4:13). Throughout his illness John constantly expressed his trust in God and in the truths of the gospel. As he wrote in one of the last pieces he did for the RTC: The glorious message of the gospel calms our fears, humbles our prideful hearts, directs our affections in praise and gladness to God, orients our lives to eternal verities and puts us on the path of glorifying God and enjoying him forever. Thats what everyone needs, and it unites us as Gods people no matter how disparate our circumstances. It was truly humbling and inspiring to see John live out these truths over the final months of his life. Please pray for Johns wife Sallee, his sons, their wives and his grandchildren as they mourn his passing. No doubt his death will leave a massive hole in their lives but let us pray that their sadness will be softened by many wonderful memories and the knowledge that by Gods grace he successfully finished the race set before him.
