16.01.2022 A little inspiration for you....

16.01.2022 You may have heard somebody use the term "warm red or cool blue" when talking about colour but what does that really mean? Well lets start with the three primary colours red, yellow and blue. Mixing 2 of these primary colours together creates what is known as secondary colours, orange, green and violet. These 6 colours make up the basic colour wheel and are divided into 2 groups - warm and cool. The warm colours are red, orange and yellow and combinations of these, while g...reen, blue and violet mixed are considered cool. When choosing a colour palette it helps to understand what the "heat" of your colour is. This is called the undertone. Warm colours uplift and energise. The remind us of sunny days, happy times and fun and are great for social areas. They're perfect for living rooms, dining and kitchen areas, kids spaces and entertainment areas. Cool colours are more calming and soothing, reminiscient of fresh snow, clear blue skies and cooling oceans. They evoke a sense of tranquillity. Turn down the heat on a hot day with cool greys, off whites and blues. They are best used in areas where you want to unwind and relax. They quieten the mind allowing you time to think and are well suited for private spaces, bedrooms and offices. When choosing colour combinations, balance is key. Begin by using a dominant scheme to create the mood you want then add just a dash of contrast. Knowledge of the difference between warm and cool colours is the first step to creating your own beautiful space. See more
