Standy folk are getting raw, honest and showing up to actively support and inspire one another ... 06.01.2022 Spring is just around the corner Your feed is about to fill up with gorgeous, smiling photos of people awesome things with their horses As much as you might be genuinely happy for others, it can still be really hard to scroll through the happy moments when you're not getting out there yourself and having fun with your horse like you'd planned ... Perhaps your standardbred journey hasn't been straightforward. Filled with challenges and setbacks. Maybe you thought you'd be further along with your standardbred by now. But it's been so long since you rode consistently and you don't know quite how to get back on track. You've probably tried really hard to ride more often. Made yourself all the promises and ultimatums. But it rarely lasts for more than a week. You might be someone whose life is really busy. And horse time always seems to be the first thing sacrificed. Maybe your confidence has taken a knock. Which is totally understandable, as working with a green horse isn't always easy! And it sometimes can be downright scary, confusing and this can make you doubt whether you're ever going to 'get there'.... self-confidence is a fragile thing in the horse world! Mostly, it's just tough to feel like everyone else is succeeding, when you're not. Firstly, we're here to tell you that EVERYONE struggles. We might only see the shiny, blue-ribbon moments on social media, but we PROMISE you that success with a very unique breed like our standardbreds comes from a lot of hard work. And ugly moments. And resolve. The key is having the support to push through the challenges. People there to ask questions to and give you a little guidance from their own experiences. To have a little skill to focus on each day, to stop you feeling so overwhelmed... ... by connecting a bunch of 'little wins' together you will naturally grow in confidence, motivation and the belief that you really CAN do retrain your standardbred! VERY expensive And yet, we spend money without even thinking!... A steady stream of funds flow out every week, to ensure we take exceptionally good care of our horse: $50 to have someone trim their toenails. $150 on a chiropractor visitwhilst the humans limp out of the paddock. A rogue $500 vet bill thanks to a dodgy fence wire. $120 for a bale of hay so our horses have somewhere comfy to lie down and poop. Paying for paddocking: whether this is agistment, or maintaining a property for livestock. Indulging in the pretty matchy-matchy gear. And yet, we baulk at spending money on developing our own skills as horse people...
