09.01.2022 What does it mean to be MATESAFE? To close out the week, Head of HSE, Quality & Risk - Braham Tindale, shares his perspective around what it means to be MATESAFE and how our teams around the country represent our safety culture. I often get asked, what does it mean to be MATESAFE?... I think the best way to sum up what it means to be MATESAFE, is to take a look at our teams on-site around the country, particularly our FMG Anderson Point roller crew. Having reached some incredible milestones over the last four years, including the change out of over 40,000 rollers LTI free, our Anderson Point crew consistently look out for each other and work together. That’s what being MATESAFE is all about. At a recent visit to FMG Anderson Point I observed this firsthand, watching the crew continuously look out for one another and check in on each other to make sure that everyone was doing ok. From making sure that everyone had hearing protection when loud noise was being made, to handing out water to ensure that everyone was being kept hydrated on a 42 degree day, I have never been prouder to be a REMA TIP TOP employee, watching the roller crew work together and look out for each other. It was great to see the crew always asking questions, commenting on activity and issuing good clear work instructions such as Here comes the next roller, Watch your fingers mate, Need a break? I can get in there for a while. That’s what being MATESAFE is all about, looking out for each other and working together to keep everyone safe. We should all look to the roller crew at FMG Anderson Point to follow the outstanding example that they have set. Braham Tindale Head of HSE, Quality & Risk #rematiptop #matesafe
