25.01.2022 When a young Australian needs a 50 per cent deposit to buy farmland, how will he or she compete with a wealthy foreign coporate with billions of dollars in thei...r pockets? Especially when Aussie taxpayers give these foreign corporates our money to build private dams. Why does the Foreign Investment Review Board pubish NOTHING online about their decision to allow major purchases of Australian land? We need to pay attention to what's happening. The Liberal Party wants to make it easier for foreigners to buy our land and water. They allow it to happen in secret. Will your sons and daughters be able to compete? We need to demand a level playing field for Australians
23.01.2022 MANMADE FLOODS DURING DROUGHT Finally, the issue you've been reading about on this page for two years has hit the mainstream media. Please spread the word. There are still many Sydney people who don't believe this is happening.
21.01.2022 Every day we are grateful for the passion, dedication and endurance of our founder. But today particularly we want to show off the 83 year old man, who started it all and still continues to run the show.....
15.01.2022 To be hopeful in bad times is based on the fact that human history is not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. If we see only ...the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand Utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory. Howard Zinn See more
15.01.2022 KILLING FAMILY FARMS On the campaign trail, people told me there's a plot to shut down family farms in Australia and import all our food cheaply from Asia. I u...sed to think this was just paranoia. But lately we've heard some extraordinary statements from Government ministers. And we continue to see large corporate, often foreign-owned agribusinesses expanding across our land, propped up by Aussie taxpayers as they sweep smaller mum and dad farms out of existence. How easy is it for farmers to get another job? And what will Australia look like when our food bowl is emptied? Watch my speech and call for the government to pledge to defend irrigated agriculture
14.01.2022 WHERE'S THE REAL PLAN? I have some questions for those who demand the Murray-Darling Basin Authority Plan is delievered in full. What's your plan for Basin tow...ns and communities? As irrigation jobs go, how do you propose we create alternative employment to keep these towns alive? How do we stop hospitals from being defunded? What should we do about the five-year life expectancy gap between Sydney and rural NSW? As I walk past empty shop fronts and meet weeping farmers, I wonder why people's lives are not given as much attention as water recovery targets. Shouldn't the goverment have come up with a 20-year plan to develop other industries and revitalise small towns? Why isn't that an integral part of the Basin Plan? Or do they think we should all just move to Sydney?

08.01.2022 REFORM, REFERRALS TO POLICE, NOT UNREAD REPORTS Hundreds of people in Deniliquin, New South Wales turned up in the middle of a working day to see Murray Darlin...g Basin top cop Mick Keelty, who is investigating water mismanagement and corruption. The message was clear - to government as much as Mr Keelty. This the 42nd inquiry in the Murray Darling Basin. We don’t want another thousand page unread report gathering dust on a bureaucrat’s desk. We want to see recommendations implemented, real reform and criminal convictions. If not, they’ll be hell to pay. More to come...
07.01.2022 WHITEWASHING CORRUPTION BEFORE CHRISTMAS Our so-called Water Top Cop Mick Keelty called his investigation into the Murray-Darling Basin Authority's plan a "once... in a generation window" for better governance and transparency. But his much anticipated first report fails to address: The draining of the Menindee Lakes and million dead fish The $467 million Broken Hill Pipeline, based on lies and a secret business case The federal government giving $80 million of your money to buy non-existent water from a Caymans Island company founded by a government minister Alleged corruption and insider trading by a NSW Government minister and senior bureaucrats reported by ABC in 2017 Politicians owning and trading water but not having to declare it. While I'm sure Mick Keelty has good intentions, it looks as if the federal government is preventing him doing his job properly. Don't let government get away with pretending they're addressing our concerns in a rushed report before Christmas, while everyone's distracted. Farmers going broke and communities without water deserve answers. Well done to the excellent independent Broken Hill paper Barrier Daily Truth for keeping the pressure on while the mainstream media snoozes. 06.01.2022 Many are praising Scott Morrison (ScoMo) for announcing an allowance/compensation for NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers. Well, I've done up a table that compares this compensation with the electoral allowance federal MPs receive (in addition to their normal income).
04.01.2022 IMPEACHMENT WEEK Thank you Topher Field and everyone else who has offered me their support after a brutal week. Just before I introduced my bill on publishing ...the names of politicians and corporations who own water, an anonymous National MP tried to block debate on the topic, then reported ME to the ethics committee. The Speaker will decide by Friday whether I’m to be be investigated. I’ve never been impeached before, so let let me know if you have any tips. Anybody got Donald Trump’s number?
04.01.2022 DEATH OF DAIRY How long before we are importing all our milk from China? Last week, I visited an endangered species. One of the last remaining dairy farms in ...the Riverina, owned by Blighty's Lachie Marshall Most dairy farms in his area have gone bust during the last three years of zero water allocation. That's 45 million litres of Australian milk a year no longer being produced. Lachie's dairy farm is making a $1 million loss per year. He'll be forced to leave the industry if there’s another year of zero allocation. That’s 12 million more litres of milk Australia will lose a year, and another 20 jobs lost. He pays $60,000 a year in fixed fees and charges despite having no water allocation. He gets zero drought assistance. There were 90 dairy farmers in the Riverina three years ago, now there are 25. The reason is simple. Dairy farmers can't touch water from the full rivers flowing past them. The water is flowing downstream to South Australia and to the big corporate nut farms near the border. The government is killing an industry. Our dairy farmers must be given an allocation before it's too late. Nobody wants long-life milk from China in their morning coffee. Let's not forget dairy, and let's keep the pressure on Gladys Berejiklian, John Barilaro, Melinda Pavey and Scott Morrison (ScoMo) to save this once vibrant industry.
02.01.2022 "Farmers and landholders in the drought-hit Southern Downs region of Queensland are furious over the lack of government and council opposition to a Chinese-own...ed company’s plan to mine nearly 100 million litres of local groundwater a year and sell it off, at a time when local towns are so dry they are relying on trucked-in water to keep their taps running." When will National and Liberal Party politicians start putting our farmers and town drinking water supplies ahead of foreign business interests? Read more: https://bit.ly/2Rj51EB
01.01.2022 Sir David Attenborough has said this is the one thing we can all do to help save the planet.
