03.01.2022 We are trialing the Rubidium Rover for remote lighting audits. The concept is we would courier the Rubidium to your door pre-programmed to you field, you press... GO and the Rover does the rest. We're looking to test it as it would dramatically reduce the cost and timeframe for remote and rural areas to have accurate auditing done. To give it a thorough test we're looking for a range of applications across the country. Trent Dutton from Rubidium Light shared his story of building his business and commercialising the Rubidium Rover. ...His advice: 1) Market validation is crucial and can save a lot of heartache and financial stress when done early. It can kill your ideas, or give them wings. 2) If funds are tight, you can approach product development differently. You can use open source or off the shelf and customise to save money, rather than starting from scratch. 3) Protect your IP. But consult the professionals if you can and stagger the costs - don’t spend big bucks in markets you can’t realistically service. 4) Solve a problem. Find out what people are prepared to pay to remove that pain in their butts! 5) Remember when your product is finally built the journey is not over. This is just the start. It’s a process of continual improvement.
