25.01.2022 Th R U Brown Piobaireachd Society will be hosting the 2019 Australian Solo Piping Championships on the 14th April 2019 at Scotch College Adelaide. The event Sponsors are McCallum Bagpipes and prizes will include the A Grade Quaich, B Grade engraved full length wood presentation McCallum Practice Chanter, C Grade a fully engraved presentation McCallum Bagpipe and D Grade a McCallum presentation Bagpipe. Restricted - 1 Tune is to be submitted and performed. 3. Beginners - Ground on Practice Chanter Friday 1 May , D and C grade competition, 7:00PM Prospect RSL Mervyn Hall Perpetual Trophy (D grade) Two Simple Time Marches (2/4, 3/4, 4/4. Tune Requirements: ... Beginners - Ground Only on Practice Chanter. D Grade - Ground Only. C Grade - Full Tune. B Grade - One full Piobaireachd including Crunluath. A Grade - submit 2 full Piobaireachd including Crunluath (one to be played as selected by the adjudicator). Ceol Beag for under 21's D Grade: 4 Parts Simple Time March. 21.01.2022 The 2020 RUBrown Contest and recital on 9 May 2020 has been cancelled due to the worsening environment of the coronavirus situation. We have many people planning to travel from interstate and some from overseas and we would be putting their health at risk by continuing with the competition. It would be most unacceptable for one of our competitors or supporters got ill by attending our piping contest.... We look forward to seeing everyone at next years event in May 2021.

18.01.2022 The next R U Brown Piobaireachd Society event will be the contest at the Port Adelaide Caledonian Society on Semaphore Road starting at 1:30PM on the 17th August 2019. Full details can be found at www.rubrown.org.au. The recital meeting scheduled for August 2 will not be conducted as a number of members will be absent for the national College meeting in Sydney. Look forward to catching up with everyone at the contest.

09.01.2022 Greatly saddened today at the news of the passing of James (Jimmy) McIntosh at 96 years of age. A man who taught so much to so many. Always very generous with ...his time and knowledge. A great supporter of the R U Brown Piobaireachd Society and in fact a past work colleague and personal friend to a number of our members. Thoughts to his family, friends and students.
