25.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BAN 30/12/19 Today 30/12/19 we have crews on hightened alert ready to respond to any incidents in our local community. Our tanker has been responded to assist with fire fighting efforts in East Gippsland, don't worry though. We have had a stand in tanker in our station to help with our local fire fighting efforts. ... What does the Extreme Rating mean? Expect extremely hot, dry and windy conditions. If a fire starts and takes hold, it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. What should I do? Consider staying with your property only if you are prepared to the highest level. If you are not prepared to the highest level, leaving high risk bushfire areas early in the day is your safest option Be aware of local conditions and seek information by listening to your emergency broadcasters, go to cfa.vic.gov.au download the VicEmergency app and /or call the VicEmergency Hotline for further information on 1800 226 226

22.01.2022 One of the families at Ruby Fire Brigade recently had a news paper article written about their volunteering efforts, which made the front of yesterday's Hearld Sun paper. A short video clip was created by the CFA media team. This is the clip. Well done to the Hardacre family, we are proud and grateful for the time and effort you all put in.

21.01.2022 Today, Saturday 4th of January, is a day of Total Fire Ban for most of the state INCLUDING West and South Gippsland which includes our area. Although it is smokey today please only call 000 if you see flames as most of the smoke is from the East Gippsland fires.

20.01.2022 How did you survive Monday's weather? Over the past few days, we have put up some posts that indicated that the fire danger was going to be well above normal for us in the West and South Gippsland forecast district. Lucky for us, we haven't witnessed any significant fire activity locally. You would have seen all the fire activity around our state and especially in East Gippsland. Did it turn out worse than you expected?... If you don't think that this could happen to us, one day you may be wrong. Will you be prepared if it happens? A well thought out and written down fire plan will help you make an educated and informed decision with known trigger points to help keep you, your family, and pets safe. What about if you don't have a fire plan? It's not too late to make one, as there is still a long time before summer ends. Visit the CFA website, as there is lots of helpful information to help you create a fire plan or update your current one. Otherwise if you are a local resident of Ruby, Kardella, Arawata or the surrounding areas, please send us a message if you need a hand in preparing your fire plan. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare

19.01.2022 The Hardacre Family, who are a part of our team at Ruby, got interviewed on the Today show last Saturday 11th January. Well done to them. 12.01.2022 Tomorrow Monday the 30th of December is going to be a state wide TOTAL FIRE BAN. Please check your old fire heaps to make sure they are out and still cool to touch. There will be no excuse for operating welders grinders or any other equipment that has a flame or makes sparks in the open tomorrow, stiff penalties apply. For us around Ruby, Kardalla and Arawata the fire danger rating with be in the EXTREME. This is some of the highest fire danger that we have seen for us since Black Saturday in February 2009. DON'T BE COMPLACENT. Our long green grass will burn tomorrow if a fire starts. NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT YOUR FIRE PLAN INTO ACTION.

11.01.2022 Today, Friday the 10th of January 2020, has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the West and South Gippsland Fire Districts. The fire danger rating is very high. With the grasses curing and drying out in our area, especially in the hills around Arawata, Kardalla and Ruby, please be extra careful when operating machinery and mowing lawns. Remember to stay hydrated and put your fire plan into action. Stay safe from the team at Ruby CFA.

03.01.2022 Don’t forget to change your Clocks and your Smoke alarm battery.

03.01.2022 Just thought that we would let you know that the team from Ruby Fire Brigade have been busy over the past few weeks. Along with the normal calls to support our local communities, we have had crews supporting the emergency response to East Gippsland. We have had multiple members supporting the fire fighting efforts, working out of the Swan Reach base camp while also having a member volunteering with the Red Cross, currently in Mallacoota.... Thanks to the support from the members who take on extra local responsibilities while we have crews in East Gippsland, to the businesses who support their employees when they respond and especially our families who continue to run our businesses, families and are concerned about our safety while we are often working hard out of phone contact. Keep up the good work and stay safe everyone.
