23.01.2022 The Ruby Benjamin Animal Foundation is a friend to vets too! A dog that was dumped was operated on by the vet but it was to ill and passed away. The vet had to stand that loss so The Ruby Benjamin Animal Foundation helped out and paid for the medication used. An old dog collapsed in a garden and couldn’t get up, no one could help him. The vet said the dog was so old he needed to be put to sleep, so he put the dog to sleep peacefully. 20.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! Just a small reminder to you all that pets are usually scared of fireworks... so tonight keep them safely inside with you and make sure there are no holes in fences or doors that they can get out if in a panic. Make sure they have their tags on too so if they do get out or lost people can find their owners. We wish everyone a happy new year and if you have a donation please contact us so we can help any lost or injured pets people take to councils or vets for help.
19.01.2022 We would like to wish everyone and their pets a Happy and Peaceful Christmas with their families, friends and neighbours. Please take care what you feed your pets and make sure they have plenty of clean water in the shade this summer. The Ruby Benjamin Foundation are helping to save the Tasmanian Devil by contributing to Devil Ark who are establishing a healthy colony in the highlands of NSW. They have also contributed to Taronga Zoo’s project with other Australian zoos to build an insurance population of healthy devils. These unique little carnivores are in real danger of extinction in the wild due to a virulent form of cancer. The prognosis for the captive breeding program is improving but they may never be able to return to the Tasmanian Bush. Even a small amount can hurt them If you think your pet dog, cat, bird or rabbit has ingested any chocolate, contact your local vet right away. Place chocolate out of reach of your pets. 16.01.2022 About Ruby Benjamin Ruby Benjamin was 74 when she started the Foundation and was still active until her death aged 95. She was recognised with citizenship awards from State, Federal and Local Governments, including the 2001 Premier’s Australia Day Award. In 2002 Ruby was made a life member of the RSPCA (WA). In her last couple of days her prime concern was finding someone to take care of her dog. She was that sort of person. Sadly the prognosis wasn't good so the loved pet was put to sleep by the vet. The Ruby Benjamin Animal Foundation paid for out of pocket expenses. 02.01.2022 A starving cat found dumped was so ill that its bones were jutting through its skin and its eyes and ears full of pus. The cat was taken to the vet and is now recuperating slowly. 01.01.2022 Did you know? Carnaby's black-cockatoo can live for 40 to 50 years in the wild and display strong bonds with their partners throughout their adult life. Carnaby's black-cockatoos are found only in Western Australia and are one of only two species of white-tailed black-cockatoo found anywhere in the world. The other is Baudin's blackcockatoo.
