25.01.2022 - ... Kat is the 7th woman to have their name on this trophy in the same number of years. She put up an incredible performance totaling 595kg @ 82.15kg winning by a considerable margin with a co-efficient of 469.22. She broke the current 82.5kg OPEN GPC National Records on all lifts and total. She squatted 235kg on a second just missing 250kg on the third, benched an incredible 125.5kg and pulled 235kg on her third deadlift. She absolutely had 600kg in her which she's sure to nail next time we see her on the platform. Congratulations Kat! Your name goes down in the history books alongside so many other strong women to win this title. Special mention to the runner-up Michelle Hewlett who totaled 412.5kg @ 55.95kg with a 430.90 co-efficient. @lambdaacademy @michelle_hewlett_

24.01.2022 - Congratulations to Rait Sagor. An absolute stellar performance and return to the platform after dealing with some shoulder issues. Rait went 932.5kg @ 105.6kg with a co-efficient of 531.11 and won overall by a considerable margin.... He broke the 110kg OPEN GPC Deadlift and Total Records along the way. He squatted 350kg and benched 200kg before taking 382.5kg for a ride on his second deadlift setting himself up for 401kg on his third attempt. An incredible effort but it wasn't meant to be. Rait couldn't hold on to it and dropped it close to lockout. Congrats Rait, another incredible performance. Our runner-up was Trent Harris, a Junior, who totaled 885kg @ 124.7kg with a co-efficient of 482.99 - lots more to come from this young man! See more

17.01.2022 We have shared our opinion on zooming out to gain a better perspective of your progress before. But, it's worth sharing again! It's pretty straight forward. Lifters are zoomed in so much on their progress sometimes they fail to see the big picture. Remember progress isn't linear and can come in waves - we find this with all three lifts. On top of that, progress can be difficult to see if you are looking at small time frames. If you do fall in to the trap of scrutinisin...g your progress in these smaller time frames you are setting yourself up for some real dissapointment long term. For example, some lifters get frustrated when their lifts don't increase 2.5kg each week. Or zoomed out a little more, sometimes they get frustrated if even in between comps a lift or all 3 haven't moved much - particualry for seasoned lifters. Remember, it takes time! In fact the more time you spend the more you will find a deminishing return on your training investment. Someone in their first year of training is in heaven with all the personal bests whereas someone in their third year will start to notice that rate of progress decay. It's normal! Even if you don't see progress in those shorter time frames, remember the work you do NOW is building the base of what's to come down the track, which could be 6 months! Eventually that effort is expressed on the platform as an improvement both technically and physically. If you feel a little defeated in training due to the lack of progress, try zooming out to a bigger time frame and really get the full picture of where you have come from. We see lifters come and go and it's usually at about the 2-3 year mark they give up, because it's hard! If you can get through that and see training as a puruit of strength and accept it's a long term investment, the better off you'll be! See more

Our aim is to provide our students with as many of the necessary skills and knowledge, to enable them to work in the industry and be successful. In sa...ying that, our AIPT campus here at Rucci's Gym has some bonus inclusions you won't receive anywhere else: 1. " " seminar where we will cover the business side of the equasion including topics on finding your market, unique selling proposition (USP), sales, marketing and retention strategies. 2. 25% vouchers to our Powerlifting Courses. 3. 12.01.2022 Leanne is one many of our clients whom we coach in remote parts of the country, in this case it's Bridgetown WA. She's being coached by @elliot_ruccis_gym who in the short space of a year has really helped accelerate her progress. She kept her training up through the COVID shutdown and has maintained consistency, which therein lays the secret to her success thus far. ... If you are in remote areas of Australia or in any part of the world then get in touch. We've been evolving and developing our remote coaching service for about 5 years now and work with all of our coaching clients using this process. It works, and works well! More info on our coaching service can be found on our web site at https://www.ruccisgym.com/coaching-service See more

12.01.2022 @sammiejohannes took out silver in the ladies 56s totaling 382.5kg. Here is her second squat attempt of 140kg.

12.01.2022 This concept that progression is not linear is something we all inherently understand - this goes for progression in lifting or life! As a collective group of people we all understand this but a single person fails to apply that same logic to themselves. Why? Same old story... they think they're special, they think they work harder than anyone else, they've sacrified more, it means more to them etc... bascially it's a sense of entitlement. Wh...ich is ok, until it becomes a barrier to their progress. Now look we all want to progress, that's why we do what we do! No one trains hard and applies themselves in so many ways to remain the same. Hell no! As a beginner you see that progress come on hard and fast, adding 2.5kg per week to your lifts for awhile, until that progress slows down and you run in to the proverbial brick wall. If you have been training awhile, you'll know what we're talking about. The fact is, progression is not linear. We don't just keep adding 2.5kg per week to our lifts to infinite. At some point we hit our absolute strength / skill / genetic ceiling - it happens! Life can also get in the way where you have undulating stress levels due to external factors. Let's not even get in to injuries! Progress may get to the point where adding 2.5kg a year is good, especially for elite lifters. In some cases they may have to maintain / sacrafice one lift to benefit another which results in a bigger overall total. If you find yourself hitting that wall where those early gains start to wear off just go back to the reason you started training... you enjoyed it! Remove the pressure of having to perform and hit personal bests all the time because if you do you're setting yourself up for dissapointment. Trust us if you can do that, you'll be better of for it and your lifting will actually improve. Accept your progress will go up, down and come in waves. Engage and acknowledge it's a process and have fun! See more

12.01.2022 This weekend we have the last Powerlfiting competition at Rucci's Gym for 2020! It's been a crazy year but we've been relatively lucky here in WA compared to some parts of the country. Apart from the shutdown earlier in the year, we've had things running pretty smoothly and there's been some incredible competition and individual performances. Big thanks to all the lifters who have helped make 2020 such an amazing year... literally every competiton has SOLD OUT! Incredib...le. For those of you lifting this weekend, best of luck stepping on to the platform for the first time - enjoy the experience. If you haven't stepped on the plartform and want to get involved you can get in touch with us, we can even prepare you for competition! In fact competition preparation is a big part of what we do. It's very exciting for us to continue to grow our coaching staff as we continue to evolve and expand. ... Vinh is about to finish his Masters in Sports Science so comes very qualified and brings with him plenty of experience primarily with group based training and personal training. He has competed in Powerlifting locally here in Perth and has been working with @dan_ruccis_gym as his coach since earlier this year and will step back on to the platform at the November Novice Comp followed by the GPC Western Classic in January. On Monday we have Vinh straight in to it with his first PT client and Strength Club sessions, which he will be taking over going forward. 08.01.2022 ' - All gyms have records boards, most of which are all time, which is important. We have them as well. What we are interested in is the current talent pool in the gym. Why? Well a gym is only as "strong" as the lifters it can actually put on the platform. ... In saying that, we've put together a list of the top mens totals by weight class from 2019 to now. Womens list also coming! Keep in mind, only financial club members are on this list, or any of our records. We don't claim a lifter who walks in to the gym once, happens to do one of our comps or we let train at the gym from time to time. Even our coaching clients who aren't members of the gym don't go on our record boards. It's purely our club members. In saying that... here is the top mens totals by weight class since the start of 2019. As you can see we are very light on men over 140kg but have plenty of depth in the middle tier weight classes. 67.5 567.5kg - Warren Page 75 552.5kg - Joshua Chila 517.5kg - Chris James 82.5 757.5kg - Yianni Magoulias 707.5kg - Ando Nguyen 700kg - Jessy-Ray Conlon 692.5kg - Mat Bailey 600kg - Michael Moralee 90 772.5kg - Brian Cook 760kg - Chris Whittaker 747.5kg - James Stevens 737.5kg - Taylor Chapman 732.5kg - Jarrod Cavanagh 100 822.5kg - Brian Cook 817.5kg - Chris Whittaker 815kg - James Stevens 790kg - Rait Sagor 747.5kg - Jarrod Cavanagh 110 932.5kg - Rait Sagor 842.5kg - Dale Smith 800kg - Dan Part 780kg - Brendon Mcentyre 770kg - Matthew Kennelly 125 885kg - Trent Harris 837.5kg - Dale Smith 812.5kg - Brendon Mcentyre 780kg - Tarin Katu 777.5kg - Macaulie Eddy 140 Outside of these totals we have a plethora of lifters that help make up depth in our talent pool, and a massive influx of emerging talent we will be developing over the next few years. 07.01.2022 One of the latest videos for our coaching clients where @dan_ruccis_gym covers one of the common squat faults but starts with some anatomy knowledge bombs covering the spine and the relationship between each section and pelvis. It’s important to understand underlying anatomy and physiology when learning, that’s a big part of our coaching model. Get in touch if you’re keen to come on board. We work with beginners to sub-elite and elite lifters.

06.01.2022 - & Our vision is to help build better, stronger people by providing the ultimate gym experience! So, it would be of no surprise that we believe in having the absolute best equipped facility possible.... To us, the gym is like a toolbox. Any tradies out there will understand what we mean here... it has to be clean and tidy with every tool having a place. If someone needs a tool they know where to find it and it works! On top of that, a good toolbox is equipped with all the tools needed for the job, and some nice to have tools as well. Over the years we have accumulated plenty of tools for the gym and we're happy with where we are at. However there are a couple of items we've wanted. Those being the pendulum squat and a standing leg curl. We're happy to have these items from @vanhekent on the way shortly and looking forward to utilising them in our teams training! See more

06.01.2022 Amber came and saw us a few months ago with the vision of stepping on to the platform. Since then she's been working with @elliot_ruccis_gym who has been preparing her for exactly that - she is competing in this weekends November Novice Comp! Lifter development and competition preparation is a big part of what we do and which our coaching service provides. Whether you are a beginner looking to make a start, or a seasoned pro, we have you ...covered. Powerlifting is what we do! 06.01.2022 That magic 300kg is a special number for any lifter to achieve in their squat. It represents a high degree of skill, strength and fortitude - getting under such a heavy bar takes a fair bit of bottle. While we have had 20 lifters achieve this in competition, only 8 have done so at a bodyweight under 100kg.... There has been about 80 lifters in Australia to ever have made this feat of strength according to OpenPowerlifting, in the raw division. Some lifters have also done this in multiple weight classes including Patrick Morrison, Linus Lim and Brian Cook. Here is our fantastic 8: 1. Rait Sagor @rait_sagor - 358kg - 2018 GPC Nationals 2. Christopher Whittaker @chriswhittaker - 337.5kg - 2020 GPC WA States 3. Linus Lim @linus.p.lim - 332.5kg - 2016 GPC WA States 4. Brian Cook @briancookpl - 320kg - 2019 GPC Adelaide Cup 5. James Stevens @jrule2 - 315kg - 2020 GPC WA States 6. Darwin Suteerawanit @darwin.pl - 300kg - 2015 GPC Perth Cup 7. Dan Rucci @dan_ruccis_gym - 300kg - 2017 WRPF WA States 8. Jarrod Cavanagh @jarrodcavanagh - 300kg - 2020 GPC WA States That itself is an achievement we are all proud of at Rucci's Gym. While we all know 300kg squats are a dime a dozen in the sport, achieving this at lower weight classes is a lot more challenging. Want to join this list? Get in touch and let us help you achieve feats of strength you never thought were possible See more

05.01.2022 We had our second intake of students start there fitness career journey today! They're a good bunch with most of them actually being members and clients of our gym, which is fantastic. We are already looking for expressions of interest for the first intake in 2021 so if you are keen hit us up on social media!

04.01.2022 !! This morning we sold out the 2021 GPC Western Classic. We will have 90 lifters over 2 days on Jan 30th and 31st! Historically this event has been limited to 70 lifters and 1 day of lifting but we sold out all 70 ticket this year in under 24 hours so decided to open it to a second day and add 20 spots.... For those that don't know, the 2021 GPC Nationals was announced last week to be on July 23rd-25th in Brisbane hosted by @valhalla_strength_brisbane . So, the Western Classic is your first opportunity in 2021 to put up qualifying totals! Best of luck to all the competitors during their preps, if you need anything you can always touch base with us. 04.01.2022 ' + The GPC Western Classic is coming up at the end of the month and we're expecting a few more 700kg+ totals to be added and perhaps some extra kilos to existing totals! This list is all the men who have totalled 700kg or more in sanctioned or invitational competition. There are 40 in all with Rait leading the pack where he went 950kg @ 100kg at the 2018 GPC Nationals with an incredible performance. That record is higher than the current a...ll time Australian 110kg mens record. Think about it! We have included the weight class in brackets in the records below. You will notice we have a very strong lighter weight mens team with some big totals in the lighter to mid weight classes. 900+ Rait Sagor - 950kg (100kg) 800+ Trent Harris - 885kg (125kg) Dale Smith - 842.5kg (110kg) Brian Cook - 822.5kg (100kg) Christopher Whittaker - 817.5kg (100kg) James Stevens - 815kg (100kg) Brendon McEntyre - 812.5kg (125kg) Tim Tomkinson - 810kg (110kg) Neil Fellowes - 800kg (110kg) Dan Part - 800kg (110kg) Carl Skudder - 800kg (140kg) 700+ Darwin Suteerawanit - 787.5kg (90kg) Nathan Baxter - 782.5kg (SHW) Tarin Katu - 780kg (125kg) Linus Lim - 777.5kg (90kg) Macaulie Eddy - 777.5kg (125kg) Liam Mcguckin - 770kg (110kg) Matthew Kennelly - 770kg (110kg) Richard Williams - 760kg (140kg) Abaddon Quinn - 760kg (SHW) Yianni Magoulias - 757.5kg (82.5kg) Taylor Chapman - 737.5kg (90kg) Tom Catchlove - 737.5kg (125kg) Jarrod Cavanagh - 747.5kg (90kg) Darren Hancey - 732.5kg (110kg) Stojan Stojanovic - 730kg (110kg) Craig Dixon - 727.5kg (140kg) Callan Gibbons - 725kg (90kg) Shane Hardie - 722.5kg (100kg) Dan Rucci - 720kg (100kg) Matt Bailey - 715kg (90kg) Arron Cullimore - 715kg (100kg) Ozan Demir - 712.5kg (100kg) Jake Baker - 712.5kg (100kg) Jessy-Ray Conlon - 707.5kg (90kg) Stefan Chinotto - 707.5kg (100kg) Ando Nguyen - 707.5kg (82.5kg) Adam Bailey - 705kg (110kg) Adam Yeates - 700kg (100kg) Mitchell Edom - 700kg (110kg) Interested in Powerlifiting and being part of our club, check out https://www.ruccisgym.com/interested-in-powerlifting See more

04.01.2022 ' $, Mid 2016 we announced a $10,000 prize pool of cash we made available to our Powerlifting team. If you are wondering, yes it's still on! The concept is simple - to acknowledge and reward OUTSTANDING achievement on the Powerlifting platform. ... We are awarding $1,000 cash to any lifter in our team who unlocks one of the following achievements: 1 400kg squat 2 400kg deadlift 3 1000kg total 4 x10bw total 5 - (2019) 6 250kg squat 7 250kg deadlift 8 600kg total 9 x8bw total GPC Triple Crown With the GPC Western Classic coming up at the end of the month we have a potential $1k heading out the door. The x10bw total for the men is certainly in danger of falling with Yianni Magoulias dropping to 67.5kg to give it a crack - this week he went 645kg in training quite comfortably. At Rucci's Gym, we’re about supporting and promoting Powerlifting and this $10,000 prize pool is exactly about that. There's still $9,000 up for grabs! There are of course some conditions: Must be a club member for 6 months to qualify. Must be made in sanctioned GPC, APL or invite only raw powerlifting competition (not single lift). Must total elite (based on federation grading scales if one is available). Awarded to the first lifter to unlock the achievement. Must be in the spirit of fair play as decided by the Rucci brothers. Who will be the next Rucci’s lifter to level up? Will Yianni crack the x10bw total at Western Classic? Let us know what you think in the comments below. See more
