25.01.2022 On Friday, armed with an awesome group of RMIT students and 7 #Dysturb posters, we curated a very special outdoor exhibition next to West Footscray station. Go and check it out before it gets tagged over. Big thank you to all of the helpers, Alan Hill and Pauline Anastasiou who made it possible.

22.01.2022 Thank you everyone for coming and celebrating the end of dear Ruffian. Big thank you again to our printer Prism Imaging and Ilford Imaging Australia, Deano from Wrangler Studios, the wonderfull musicians - Yffer, Dada Ono, Anthony Young and the Next Man Dead and Wael X / DJ Regret for literally making everybody dance. The exhibition will only be open for one week, tomorrow, Monday, Thursday and next Saturday 3-7. - Ruffs.

22.01.2022 For the past few years, Ruffian has been home to numerous stories and tasty visual treats encompassing emerging photographers with established international artists and musicians. With a heavy heart, we will be tying up loose ends through the means of a seriously chaotic and splendid final show for you to feast upon. Our lease is almost over, and the team behind Ruffian will be casting our sails and looking towards the horizon taking our exhibitions and projects to other spac...es in Melbourne ... and beyond. Thank you to those who came to shows, helped behind the bar, re-painted the old bricks and smiled through our windows. An enormous thank you to our one and only Print and film processing sponsor Prism Imaging without Gary and Carlos staying up late and consistently creating magic for our walls, we wouldn’t have survived. Another thank you to the special Dean Tellefson of Wrangler Studios who created a backyard DIY band room that played host to many incredible bands and musicians that entertained people far into the night. Without further ado we extend the warmest welcome to our very last show at 361 Barkly Street. Ending with the bang we begun, HH is a collaboration of four Melbourne based photographers who studied together and have been sharing ideas and support ever since. Their different styles can be attributed to personal endeavours and connections to place. Heavy heart speaks loudly not in one purporting voice, but through four distinctive perspectives, echoing and layering their lessons, encounters, and experiences. GINA NERO ‘s brief encounters with Cubans in Havana, ISABELLA CAPEZIO ‘s exploration into the sacred site of Lalibela, SARAH PANNELL’s nostalgic look at an isolated Australian landscape and MADZ REHOREK’s navigation between fictional worlds and communities steeped in religious narratives .. there are more than one strange narrative to sink your teeth into. FRIDAY 15th APRIL, 7PM - LATE You can BYO or buy cheap booze here. Sponsored, for one last time, by Prism Imaging. https://web.facebook.com/events/1742641989344592/

03.01.2022 We're all just a *bit* lucky to have the following musicians gracing our beer garden one last time.. The beautiful sounds of Yffer featuring Georgia Harvey and Travis John Our all time favourite lyricist and ultimate Ruffian, playing at our first show and at our last; Anthony Young of Anthony Young and the Next Man Dead... A special treat in the form of vocalist and electric violinist, welcoming back the rascal herself - Nik Ranger of Dada Ono .. and finishing us into the night, our very own Cheech and Chong; DJ Regret and Wael X. This Friday, 7pm - late. xx, Ruffs.
