24.01.2022 Hey, Sista's! And Brothers! What are your thoughts on this? In their article What Really Holds Women Back? The Harvard Business Review has cited a crushing culture of overwork" in a recent study to explain why women aren’t promoted to senior roles So, it’s not the age-old argument that a women’s devotion to her family stops her, then?... Interestingly, HBR found in its study that: For the firm to address its gender problem, it would have to address its long-hours problem. And the way to start would be to stop overselling and overdelivering. Well! I certainly know a few companies, in my opinion, that seem to have a philosophy of work ‘em till they drop culture - so the women end up taking the part-time roles and the man is expected to rock up all hours - often carrying major guilt for not being there for his family. HBR’s conclusion? Women and men alike suffer as a result. But women pay higher professional costs. If we want to solve this problem, we must reconsider what we’re willing to allow the workplace to demand of all employees. What do you think? Karyn x Click for the full article below...
