13.01.2022 Dogs of the day .... ‘Molly’ ‘Dakota’ ‘Brax’. Once bath time is finished and I growl at them for 5 minutes so they don’t roll in the dirt, Dakota finds her toy so she can play while the other two join in after, but it’s really Dakota’s playtime. When I throw it, Brax gets the toy and drops it while Dakota sneaks in to get it off him. Molly, meanwhile, just wanders around #kelpiesofinstagram #kelpies #playtime #ruffnrinse #townsvilleshines #supportlocaltownsville #dogwash #mobiledoggroomer #dogsofinstagram

09.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK I get a lot of chat about how certain pets just like to ruin a day for their owners so anything like digging holes to chewing or peeing on furniture. One of my main answers is to use ‘Keep Off’ the crystal type. The reason the crystals work better than powder or spray, is that you can renew the amount you put in a jar by just adding a tad of water so the crystals rehydrate. The smell of it is nice to us humans, but definitely dogs and cats do not like. To u...se just add a couple of tablespoons or so to a dish or cut your milk bottle so it forms a dish and put near or under the furniture or in your garden beds so your pets and other humans pets stay away (eg cats going to the loo in your garden). When the crystals start to dehydrate, add some water (not too much) and another tablespoon of crystals to renew the smell. Costs about $21 at Bunnings for the 1kg jar. Should last a while if used right. If you’re after some more particular tips send me a query and I’ll find an answer for you. Next week is about barking #ruffnrinse #petdeterrent #trainingpets #trainingpetsandtheirpeople #cats #dogs #nicesmell #keepoff #supportsmallbusiness #helpingout

08.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK On the odd occasion when I arrive at a clients place, the dog is barking ....well pretty much most of the time but their barks all tell a different story. Hey Shell you’re here barks, happy barks, worried barks, keep away barks, come any closer and I’ll rip you apart barks. Dogs barking is a part of owning a dog. Sometimes I’ll turn up and the bark is a ‘come any closer and I’ll rip you apart’ bark while the owner is home but yet no one comes out to see wha...t is going on until I ring them or yell out. It doesn’t happen that often but it does happen. To train your dog to stop barking is to find out what they are barking about, so you need to go out and see what is going on and let them know that they did their job good, because you came out to see what they were trying to tell you. To do this training, you need to start when the pup/dog comes home for the first time.....and you need to be consistent. Every time the dog barks while you’re home, head out and have a look, tell your best mate that ‘all is fine’ or ‘good dog’ cause someone was at the gate, give them a pat and move on. If they’re barking at nothing, tell them ‘enough’ in a growly voice so they know there was nothing to bark about and move on. Screaming at the dog to shut up when you’re inside doesn’t work. They’re trying to tell you something so you have to go out and listen to what they’re telling you. Could be the next door cat teasing them. To help a dog stop barking during the time you’re away, you should try and keep them in an area where they can’t see much except their yard, so not being able to see the postie go by etc There are bark stoppers to buy like collars and bird boxes where it helps the dogs get distracted. That’s the whole idea, by distracting the barking dog, it usually stops them from barking at nothing. You just gotta be consistent when they first get home to live with you. Let them know you are the Alpha, not them.

05.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK .... Dogs just love doing stuff, and they get very very excited if they know you've got their lead in your hand and you're ready to go out ... yeah walking your dog is sometimes a pain in the you know what for most people. The dog, even though gets a lot of attention at home, but when the lead comes out and they know they're about to head out of their yard to go gossip down the street, they tend to get over excited. So this tip should help you train your dog o...Continue reading

01.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK .... I see a lot of overweight animals and when I ask the owner when do you feed the pets, pretty much everyone says ‘at night time’ which explains to me why your pets are fat. A lot of clients ask how they can get their animals to lose weight. My answer is change their dinner time to breakfast time. There are a couple of reasons why. One is because they move around during the day a lot more than they do at night usually which then helps them use their energy ...during the day. Two is because if you want them inside, by feeding them in the morning, they don’t usually need to go to the toilet at night. Also a lot of owners over feed their pets. When you feed the animals, you should allow them 10-15 minutes to eat their food. If they haven’t finished their food by then, then take it away as you’ve overfed them. They will tell you when they are not hungry. Don’t leave any food for them to graze on. They don’t need it. If they don’t even touch their food, they’re usually not fussy, they’re just not hungry so feed them the next day. If they don’t eat at all for a couple of days try something new for them. I feed mine raw chicken necks, frames, raw eggs, sardines and while puppies, a good quality biscuit. If you have a fast eater and you feed them biscuits, then throw the kibble out onto the grass where they have to go looking for it...helps slow them down a bit See more
