22.01.2022 It's always nice to feel appreciated and at RufUs we really appreciate the positive feedback we get from providing the services we do. We'd like to share a story with you, that came as an email, from an organisation that supports the vulnerable..
22.01.2022 A Good News Story Tear of Joy!! It’s not often that we share stories about the homeless people that we help, but this week we all shed tears of joy, when a gentleman rang us to personally thank us, as he had been homeless and living in his car for 3 and half years and now he has a home. ... Rufus were able to provide a bed and mattress plus linen to go with it. A couch, coffee table and lamp for his lounge room. For his kitchen, a 2 person kitchen pack with crockery, cutlery l glasses, mugs, tea towels etc and a table and chairs to eat at. We also were able to provide other sundry household items to help make his house a home. He wanted us to know how good it felt to stretch out on a bed and sleep feeling safe as it had been a long time since he had felt this way. I took his thank you call and ended up with tears of joy running down my cheeks as his voice wavered as he cried tears of joy too. It is by helping each other that we can make positive changes happen!! See more
21.01.2022 Well it's the end of our first week back and we have also done our first deliveries for the year. We have lots scheduled for the rest of the month and the beginning of next so things are back in full swing. You may have seen our post earlier this week where we featured our new banner and now we also have some t-shirts with our logo on them. To save costs we made them ourselves. We hope it will help us look more like a team. Let us know what you think of them. And keep checking in for more info and updates.
21.01.2022 Oh no!! The RufUs van is having mechanical problems and is going in for repairs Wednesday to Friday this week. We are very much hoping that our services will be back to normal, next week as we have a few large orders to deliver, including one family that has asked for 4 single beds, a queen sized bed, dining and chairs for 6, wardrobes, bed side tables and the list goes on. So please keep your fingers crossed for us that the van is back on Monday!! If you. your organisation , business or company would like to make a donation towards our repairs, please go to our website rufs.org.au where you can donate directly to us. 19.01.2022 The Team from RufUs, would like to advise, that due to demand, we are unable to do pick ups or deliveries, until the end of this month. Please continue to email us with request, and as soon as we are able to help, we will. Thank you for your understanding and continues support.
19.01.2022 One person’s trash is another person’s treasure At Rufus we understand that many people are struggling with life’s challenges at the moment. People are struggling emotionally, financially, psychologically and with simple day to day existence. We also understand the power of giving and supporting the vulnerable members of our community. We have seen first hand, how one person's trash has become another person’s treasure. By reusing and sharing our resources, it become...s a WIN WIN situation, where everybody is a winner. * The receiver * The giver * The *RufUs services * Sustainability/Recycling * The Environment Having said all this, we do have standards for our donations as if it is not of use to you, because it's in poor condition it's not of us to RufUs either. We only want items in good condition or working order. Thanks for your support. See more
18.01.2022 Well, today we made two families very happy. The first family were overjoyed with their items and especially their L shaped lounge that they received. And the other family were also thrilled with the items they received which included a chest of drawers and two bedside tables, a dining room table and chairs, a kitchen pack and pots and pans as well as beds and linen. We even managed to find a lovely rocking horse for the little one at that household. He was so surprised when he saw it, that he jump straight on it for a ride. . It's the little things that make a big difference. And for us, at RufUs, it's all about the smiles and the happiness that these things bring.
18.01.2022 Recently at RufUs, apart from delivering household items and furniture to the homeless and victims of domestic violence, as well as picking up donations from generous members of the community, we have been reorganising and rearranging our warehouse. Earlier this year we received a donation of a walkie stacker that has enabled us to make our warehouse and our service more-efficient. Thank you to the TASK forklift people for making this possible. Check out some of the BEFORE and AFTER pics
17.01.2022 We have had another big week at Rufus. We have done several deliveries to people moving into their new homes as well as receiving some really great donations which we have bagged up ready to be shared around.
17.01.2022 97, 98, 99, 100!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, we have reached our 100 deliveries target!! The Team have worked hard to make this happen and we feel really god that we have reached our target and helped so many different people, (well over 300, including many children), make a new start and get back on track. With only 4 more weeks of deliveries for the year, we are getting close to being fully booked, but we will do what we can in that time. The Tean from RufUs.
16.01.2022 Homelessness is one of life's toughest experiences. It brings many feelings and emotions, that one must cope with and push past. Today we are thinking of YOUNG homeless people and CHILDREN, as for them, it is especially hard, many being alone in the world. At RufUs we know what a difference a home and safety make and that it is the difference between young people picking up the pieces and moving forward or succumbing to life's pressures and giving up hope. We need to do more as a community to fight for more public housing and accessibility to it. Start a conversation with friends and family and let's see if we can't start a wave of change
16.01.2022 Due to COVID-10 we are cancelling our Garage Sale.
15.01.2022 It's been another busy week at RufUs. We have delivered many household items and various furniture to four families this week and will be doing more of the same next week. These deliveries bring us closer to the 100 delivery mark, which we are hoping to hit very soon. That will certainly be reason for us to celebrate as well as the approximately 300 people we have helped. Checkout our page again soon to check when we hit our 100 deliveries Target for the year.
15.01.2022 We have had another busy week at RufUs. Apart from some deliveries, we had the time and opportunity to sort through and organise a small mountain of linen and bedding that has been donated over the last few weeks. We spent time sorting through and finding sets of sheets pillowcases and doona covers which we have now bagged up and labelled ready for delivery. By doing these sorts of things when we can it really helps us keep on top of things when we get a run of deliveries in a single week. We now are ready to fill our orders and it will make life easier for us since everything now is sorted and stacked. Although it might seem a little old fashioned, we do like a place for everything and everything in its place. It's these kinds of things that help Rufus to do what we do.
13.01.2022 This week we would like to acknowledge the kindness of strangers. We have received some wonderful donations this week and without community support we can't do the work that we do. We have received some things in near new condition and we are now looking to share them around to a family who would will make good use of them very soon. We have also received a number of white goods including fridges and washing machines and these are always in high demand so we are looking to move them on next week. So again, a BIG THANK YOU to all those people who think of Rufus and donate useful items in good condition. And next week we'll continue supporting those who really need it.
11.01.2022 Mondays are usually busy at RufUs, and today was no exception. We have started the week with two deliveries with a total of 6 separate deliveries this week. As you can see we started with an empty van but by the time we had filled the order, the van was also full. Sometimes fitting everything in seems to be a bit like a game of Tetris, but luckily our team are experts now and can squeez in quite a bit into the van. Two deliveries done and four to go.
10.01.2022 Like you, at Rufus we are also breathing a huge sigh of relief that by Monday we will be able to get back to delivering things to people who are eagerly waiting for them. On Wednesday when the lockdown was announced, we had a phone call from an anxious mother who was expecting a delivery from us on Friday, that due to do Lockdown, could not happen. Between us the team managed to sort something out and the goods were delivered. I'd like to say the hugest thank you to our delivery Crew Maurice and Michael for going over and above and ensuring that this mother and her children receive their goods before the lockdown. DID I mention that apart form this being being an extra delivery on the day, it was also a 70km round trip!! Three cheers for Maurice and Michael and they get the RufUs Gold Star of the week!!!
07.01.2022 #At Rufus #we like to think we are not only helping people but also the planet. We are very committed to sustainability# and from that respect we are pleased to be able to reuse,,and recycle. By recycling and reusing all of the worthwhile household items and furniture that we do, we also save them from becoming more landfill. thereby reducing waste. Not everything that is donated is in perfect condition, however the team tinker and tidy things the best we can. And we do this when we get the time and opportunity.#
07.01.2022 The team at RufUs would like to let everyone know, that we have received a lot of mattresses lately and therefore we are not in need of any at the moment. We are not picking them up either. Thanks yo all those who have offered recently. We do however need white goods, like fridges, washing machines, microwaves, etc. Also dining tables and chairs are often requested, as are couches and kitchen ware, We are happy to have donations dropped off to us too.
