25.01.2022 I'm Lucas, Newcastle local, partner to Michelle and father to Evelyn. I'm also the Director of Rowing at Newcastle Grammar School and triathlon and running coach for CF Racing. I have had the pleasure of Matthew Dun's, RUNDIPG founder, friendship for over 15 years. Matt is and will always be our inspirational leader, fearless and driven in his pursuits, bound by love and loyalty. We share a love of sport, family and friendship and a zest for life. We have experienced highs a...nd lows, triumphs, and tragedies, none more so than Matt and Phoebe and our beautiful Josie. Since becoming a father late last year, only now can I truly understand the hardship, sorrow, and grief that DIPG families go through daily. The strength of will, resolve, and tenacity of our DIPG families and kids is genuinely remarkable. I am blessed to be able-bodied, and I will be running 50kms on Saturday, 42km of them stride for stride with Matt to assist him in achieving his goal of a sub-3.30 marathon. I run to raise awareness, and I run for those who cannot. I run in the hope of a cure, and with Josie in my heart, I run for RUNDIPG. Donations for the run this weekend can be made via https://rundipg.org/donate-2020/

25.01.2022 Meet Tabitha, who is joining the boys this Saturday. She has been an avid supporter of RUNDIPG from the start (thanks Tabitha!) and says her two reasons for supporting the organisation are, One, on a scale of absolutely horrific to terrible things that happen, children dying has to be up the top. When you know children are dying because there aren’t any treatments for their cancer, purely because there is no research, you know something has to change. That’s where Dr Dun an...d RUNDIPG come in, he is single handedly creating the changes in DIPG research so that these children can stand a fighting chance. Two, I’m fortunate enough to see the work that Dr Dun and the lab put in, endlessly, and can say for certain that every single dollar that is raised for RUNDIPG or given to Dr Dun for his research is of great value and is well used. To me, that is such an important point in supporting a charity: the money needs to go directly to where you want it to go, and in this case it’s research for improved treatments in DIPG. On Saturday I will be aiming to run 30km in honour of Children’s Brain Cancer Awareness Day, whilst raising awareness and money for RUNDIPG. I will be hitting a local running track, with many other amazing RUNDIPG warriors and supporters. We are aiming to fill the Fernleigh track with RUNDIPG runners, walkers and supporters in a staggered fashion where our starting and finishing points differ but we will be able to pass each other along the track and cheer each other on in passing and finishing. You can donate towards this amazing effort via rundipg.org/donate-2020/ Also, big shoutout to the Redhead Bakehouse for their support!

25.01.2022 What an amazing effort from the runners who came out this morning and gave their all for #RUNDIPG! Huge thank you to our runners, supporters and everyone who has participated so far today. Don't forget to tag us so we can see the great photos!

24.01.2022 Thanks to the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, for these words on Dr Matt Dun's fight against DIPG and the critical research that the Dun Lab team is undertaking. "Our research is where it is today because of the support of these families and private foundations like ChadTough." https://chadtough.org/a-fathers-quest-to-save-his-daughter/

22.01.2022 This awesome crew - Sam and Mel McNiven, Ryan and Lucy Haynes, and Trent and Ange Frazer are taking on the Dubbo Stampede again this year for RUN DIPG. 21.01.2022 Don't forget, our annual EOFY Giving Campaign ends this Wednesday. All donations to RUN DIPG over $2 are tax deductible, and go towards the research to find a cure for this awful disease. Donations can be made via https://wp.me/PaD6Wz-GK

21.01.2022 My name is Paul Smith, and after 25 years in the construction life, I now coach men specifically in the FIFO industry to find their balance, structure and routine to ensure they survive and thrive. As a proud father of four kids, I know how hard the family life is without the external influences like disease playing a part and with a close connection to Matt and Phoebe RUNDIPG is close to my heart. After sharing some of their journey with them, I wanted to do something beyond... my control or comfort zone to help in some way to bring awareness and much-needed funds to the research team. My goal is to raise $2120 and simply make the half marathon distance, however that looks, in whatever time it takes and without any training or preparation. The idea is to show that if we try, we can achieve. It's like the kids who have no preparation; they just show up and do their best, one step at a time. Being on the Sunshine Coast in QLD without COVID restrictions, my brother Dave and I will be progressing through the journey together slowly, along the coastal route from Bullcock Beach to Point Cartwright early Saturday morning the 26th September. Donations to Paul's effort can be made via https://give.everydayhero.com//paul-smith-jogging-for-josie

18.01.2022 Childhood Brain Cancer Awareness day is this Saturday. We've had a lot of new followers this week, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to share a bit about childhood brain cancer, and DIPG. DIPG stands for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a devastating diagnosis because there are currently no treatment options available. To increase awareness of DIPG and the research that our fundraising supports, we're giving away a RUNDIPG merch pack with one of everything! Simply like and share to your followers and we'll select a winner at random on Friday, October 1. If you'd like to learn more about RUNDIPG and our research, head to rundipg.org

15.01.2022 Amazing news from Tour de Cure Australia - thank you for your ongoing support. All the best for the 2020 event!

13.01.2022 An absolutely incredible effort this weekend from the Broken Hill community. Local salon Jagged Edge held a fundraising day for Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, and with the combined community efforts, have raised a spectacular $23,417! Huge thank you to the salon, the Broken Hill community, and all the local businesses who chipped in to help!

13.01.2022 A huge thank you from us to everyone who has donated for September, as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and to those who have donated throughout October as well! During September, we raised more than $102,000 for funding DIPG research projects. We couldn't do it without the amazing efforts of our supporters, so a big thank you from the RUNDIPG family to you and yours!

11.01.2022 I'm James, husband to Peta (who is also an avid RUNDIPG supporter) and father to two young boys. Our family is a little nomadic and has been away from Newcastle for almost 11 years now, but we have maintained ties to the area through family and close friends from University, despite currently living in New Zealand. I played rugby with Matt for about five years at uni and had returned to attend a ten-year reunion of our grand finalist team. I was told of the battle that Matt ...and Phoebe had only just started, and there and then committed to running like a life depends on it. I felt like this cause, as painful as it's origins were, was going to be something special, something that could really make a difference and that Josie's gift to the world was the motive to get after it. Raising funds will be a bonus. Really, I hope I can push through and finish. I figure the more challenging the track, the more worthy it is to be associated with the cause, and the more awareness we can raise about it. Plus I'm not fit enough to improve on my road marathon PB! My family and I are luckily on very low-level restrictions where events are still able to go ahead. I have gathered a few other workmates to run with so we would be abiding by Level 2 restrictions anyway. Can't wait to get back to Australia and run with the RUNDIPG crew at the next event! https://rundipg.org/donate-2020/

10.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who has supported RUNDIPG and donated so far this month for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Special mention to the four amazing women who ran their marathon last week, the boys and girls who are running tomorrow, to Little Kite Photography for the auction, The Redhead Bakehouse, Newcastle & Hunter Rugby and many more for their generous donations. We're closing in our $50,000 target, and we'd love your help. You can learn more about our fundraising efforts, including research projects, and donate via rundipg.org/donate-2020/

10.01.2022 We're almost at the finish line for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, but the fight to find treatments and a cure for DIPG never stops. So far this month, we've raised an incredible $80,000 - but the month isn't over yet! There's still time to donate, and donations go towards funding scientific and clinical research, and hopefully, a cure. Donations can be made via rundipg.org/donate-2020/

09.01.2022 What causes DIPG? Although the exact cause is unknown, 70-90% of #DIPG tumours have a ‘histone’ mutation called ‘H3K27M’. DNA and the information that keeps cells healthy is usually tightly wound around the histone. The H3K27M mutation sees the DNA unravel, causing errors and instability in cell growth patterns- ultimately causing/allowing the DIPG tumour to develop.

06.01.2022 A big shout out and a huge thank you to the Broken Hill community for this incredible donation! The community has rallied around a family whose child has tragically been diagnosed with DIPG, and this is the result of an amazing grassroots effort by the local residents. You might remember the earlier photo of donation tins and this is the outcome, two months later. We're so grateful to the town for this donation and their spectacular fundraising efforts, they should be very proud!

05.01.2022 What an amazing effort from the runners who came out this morning and gave their all for #RUNDIPG! As they finished up a few moments ago, the team are closing in on the fundraising target, with the total donations now standing at $45,058! Huge thank you to our runners, supporters and everyone who has participated so far today. Don't forget to tag us so we can see the great photos!

05.01.2022 Big thanks to Hunter Barbarians Rugby Club for their awesome efforts ahead of the Coffs Coast Rugby 10's Challenge, which has kicked off today! These legends are donating all the proceeds from merch sales to RUN DIPG. If you're able to (mindful of current health restrictions in NSW) we'd love to see supporters cheering on the team as they fly the RUN DIPG flag!

05.01.2022 I'm Benjamin, married to Kate with three kids Ebony 9, Myles 7, and Lawson, 5. "Like a few of the boys running on Saturday, I first met Matt playing rugby at Newcastle University. I'm glad to say I never played against him! Being a father and with kids of the same age, Matt and I would regularly run into each other at a local park or beach with the kids to get them out of the house. "When Kate and I became aware of Josie's diagnosis, we wanted to help, however we could. To ...then understand the lengths that Matt and his team went to in their research (and the work they continue to do) with the minimal funding, this charity became not only something very close to our hearts, but something that was a worthwhile investment to raise awareness. "I'm running a half marathon (the second half of Matt's Marathon) this weekend to be there to support Matt and the other boys, and to help them achieve their total target distance. I'm proud to say that I was by Matt’s side in Canberra where we both completed our first marathon raising awareness for RUNDIPG. You can donate the boy's amazing effort via rundipg.org/donate-2020/

05.01.2022 There are no treatment options for DIPG. To change this, RUN DIPG support focussed, medical research to better understand the disease, and to find or develop tr...eatments. Time-consuming and expensive, your help means lab-based research findings can move through the development pipeline and into the clinic at a more rapid rate. This is an absolute must for a disease whose median survival is measured in months! We continue to support the work of Dr Matt Dun at the University of Newcastle, Hunter Medical Research Institute, and hope to see the 'DMG-ACT' clinical trial open in 2021. You can read more about DIPG trials here: https://defeatdipg.org/innovative-dipg-trial-opening-soon/

04.01.2022 Today is Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. Every year, roughly 20 Australian children are diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), and there are currently very few treatment options and no cure. The only way to improve outcomes is research. RUNDIPG is committed to the timely and innovative development of anti-DIPG therapies. You can learn more about our research projects and fundraising efforts via rundipg.org

03.01.2022 Our amazing RUNDIPG friend and supporter, Nidhi Panicker has reached her goal of raising $5,000 towards RUNDIPG research and will be shaving her incredible hair off this Thursday. This is an incredibly generous and heartfelt gesture, especially considering she will be matching the $5,000 donation. There is still time to support this awesome effort via https://give.everydayhero.com/au/nidhi-s-big-shave

03.01.2022 A great mate of RUNDIPG, Kyle Patrick, is running the Manchester City Marathon this Sunday morning (late afternoon here) and we would love for our amazing supporters to get behind him. He's hoping to complete the run in time to qualify for the Boston Marathon after only a years' training. You can support his amazing effort, and his fundraising on behalf of RUNDIPG via the link provided here: https://give.everydayhero.com/au/running-on-hope-1

03.01.2022 I’m Michael, 48 years old and have lived in Newcastle since 2005. My wife Sammi and I have two kids, Joey 13 and Phoebe 6. I work as an anaesthetist at private hospitals in the region. I have been involved in endurance sport on and off since 1992, mainly long-distance triathlon. I met Phoebe Dun in 2005 as we both went through Newcastle University studying medicine. Sammi and I had our first baby in 2007, and I’ll never forget how Phoebe brought around a frozen meal so we co...uld have a night off cooking! I was working at John Hunter Hospital theatres many years later when I bumped into Phoebe and Matt while they were waiting for Josie to come back from an MRI - they had just learned about Josie’s diagnosis of DIPG. Our own Phoebe wasn’t much older at the time, and I was devastated when I read up on the disease and its prognosis. I’m pleased to be able to do something to help raise some funds to boost research into this dreadful condition - every child that dies from this condition is one too many. I’m not quite up to the 42 ks right now, so I’m basically just hoping to keep Matt company for some of the way. It won’t really be about time, just holding a steady pace for as long as the legs hold up! Donations for the boys run can be made via https://rundipg.org/donate-2020/

02.01.2022 We are looking forward to seeing plenty of red faces tomorrow, raising awareness for DIPG on Childhood Brain Cancer Awareness Day! Please also remember to abide by your local COVID-19 social distancing regulations. For those local Novocastrians, this means no gatherings of more than 20 people! We would still love to see as many of you as possible on the Fernleigh Track, and Matt Dun would love some encouragement to get him through his 42.2km. If you're coming down to suppor...t tomorrow in Newcastle, the start time will be around 8:15 at Adamstown and the team will be passing through Belmont just after 9:30, Redhead 10:00 and Belmont around 10:40. If you're supporting remotely, don't forget to tag us and use the #RUNDIPG - we would love to see photos of our supporters in RUNDIPG kit wherever you may be running!

01.01.2022 New supporter's shirts are now ready for pre-order, in men's, women's and kids sizes for summer! Get yours via the RUNDIPG store at https://rundipg.myshopify.com/collections/suppoters-tees
