25.01.2022 When you set a huge goal for yourself, you need to be able to track it. To know how far you've come and #howfarwillyougo. Thanks to the support of our partner Polar, we were able to travel along with Samantha Gash for her entire #RunIndia challenge. "Samantha's journey began with a Polar, when she completed her first marathon wearing one of our watches. Eight years on and we we're proud to have powered her biggest challenge yet." 24.01.2022 Incredible day for Sam sharing the #runindia spirit with a special event at NAB offices yesterday. Great to see so many people inspired to run, walk and move for a great cause; education. "What a day!! Loved cheering on staff from #NAB who were running on treadmills that we set up in their foyer to support World Vision Australia access to education programs in India. You guys were such great sports!! Big thanks to Heath Evans, Polar, Mathieu Dore and Coolcore Australia who all played a mammoth role in pulling the day together. I got super amped watching everyone run together for this cause." - Samantha Gash

24.01.2022 Welcome home to Samantha Gash who has touched down in Australia today after her epic 76 day run from West to East of India. Although a much needed and well deserved rest is in order, Sam is back in action already. Catch her on 774 ABC Melbourne radio today at 2.30pm talking about her incredible #RunIndia journey. http://www.abc.net.au/melbourne/ Photo credit: Bruce Viaene Photography

23.01.2022 Yesterday, Samantha Gash met with the World Vision Australia supported community in Shillong for her final visit of the #RunIndia challenge. She saw how this community has flourished with the growth of their tea production. Sam shares her reflections from the meeting with children and tea makers in this area. "It was so wonderful to visit the tea cultivation site, see the plantations and meet the children who attend school in the area. This was an incredible experience to see... what happens after a community has connection with World Vision India for 20 years and now this business idea is self sustaining - without support. When people have purpose, education and a means to support their families they are empowered to make positive choices in their lives and help other people do the same." 20.01.2022 Sometimes the things standing in our way are not so obvious or easy to see. Lack of toilets in homes and communities in India can lead to poor sanitation and hygiene. World Vision India provide toilets to homes, families and schools so that children can feel safe and healthy. Through your support of #RunIndia, we can help reduce such barriers and help children access the education they deserve.

19.01.2022 During the #RunIndia challenge, Samantha Gash met a number of women in different communities, including Pauri, who had felt the great benefits of being part of a Self Help Group. World Vision Australia helps these groups to mobilise and come together as a unit. The ongoing support and training helps the group to achieve goals they set for themselves and rise up together. With the pooled funds, they can help their family with health needs, growing the business to generate inco...me and paying school fees so their children can get the education they deserve. Meet Gauri and Jyoti who started their group by encouraging women to contributing a little bit of savings. Once they were able to save some money, World Vision India helped them to connect with a bank and open a savings account. As women bear most of the responsibility of their home, they wanted to contribute by earning and bringing in an income to their home. Theyve also managed to now tap into Government schemes and departments to support them in horticulture and joining cooperative banks. Today the women in these groups feel empowered, confident and the group is entirely self-dependent. They dream of empowering other women to join groups and speak out against social disruptions in their communities such as alcoholism, corruption and the lack of implementation of development schemes for their community. 18.01.2022 Happy Friday! It's stories like this that inspired us to keep running for change throughout the 12 week #RunIndia, and beyond!

18.01.2022 Thank you to The AU Review, AU Abroad, for sharing the epic finale to Samantha Gash's #RunIndia challenge over the weekend. The community visits are some of the most powerful moments along this journey. I was inspired by the strength of the women I met in Pauri and Lucknow; women who rallied their community together to devise initiatives to support those in need and establish small businesses. I was also confronted by my visit to a malnutrition clinic in Alwar. There I met i...ll babies whose mothers dealt with life and death issues relating to food security, lack of education and resources. It has been powerful to see how the smallest things can help, but empowering to realise how much more needs to be done, said Samantha. 17.01.2022 Here is the full interview with Samantha Gash talking to The Daily Edition yesterday about her #RunIndia journey. It's wonderful to see Sam's reactions as this was the first time she had seen so much of the video footage in one go. Incredible to see it all at once and reflect on the 76 day challenge. There are just 2 days now left in the 12 week Run India challenge. #Howfarwillyougo?

16.01.2022 Thank you @ABC News Breakfast for sharing in the #RunIndia journey. Some of the incredible photos from Bruce Viaene Photography towards the end of Samantha Gash's epic 77 day challenge.

14.01.2022 One of the barriers to education that some communities face is lack of adequate learning materials and resources. Due to a lack of infrastructure in many governments schools children have to sit on mats on the grounds. Sitting on the floor becomes tough especially during winter when its extremely cold. Children were falling sick often with colds and fever which led to them being absent from class. Children couldnt sit comfortably for reading and writing. World Vision India... provided desks and benches in the class rooms making them more child-friendly. Children now have a comfortable place to sit and are able to concentrate better on their studies. There have been more than 667 sets of desk & benches have been given in 11 government schools in Pauri. Your support of Run India will help World Vision Australia to provide these types of resources to schools in need. Giving children the best possible opportunity to access the education they deserve. www.runindia.org.au/support-runindia.php

14.01.2022 During #runindia, we got to see how you tackled the challenge. Where you ran, how you pushed through the barriers and what motivated you to keep going. A sunset like this is a great incentive to get out and run for change. Thanks for the photo @runfitnutri. "I love travelling but nothing beats home. Time for bayrun with iMoveRunClub"

14.01.2022 Its sometimes the most basic of needs that can become a barrier to children receiving the education they deserve. Access to clean drinking water has prevented families from progressing as so much time is needed to collect water. Women and children may walk to gather water from natural sources or pumps that could be 10km or more away. Its difficult for a child to focus on their studies, or even attend school, when their basic needs are not yet met. World Vision Australia has... constructed water supply and storage structures using green energy like solar power to give community members access to safe and clean water for drinking and also to improve the sanitation conditions in the communities. In total, more than 138 households in Pauri have access to clean drinking water along with a primary school. Samantha Gash and the #RunIndia crew were able to see the clean water tanks and how much of a difference this made to a families day to day living standards. "Having drinking water close to my house makes me happy. The water is clean and tasty. Earlier my mother and I had to walk very far to fetch water but after World Vision India built water supply sources closer to our homes we dont have to walk far. People in my house and in my village drink from the tap now," says 10-year old Deepika. See more stories of change and the impact your donation can have at: www.runindia.org.au

13.01.2022 300m to go. The cheering from the crowd is palpable. Sam holds back the tears. Step, step, step ... it's done! On 5 November 2016, Samantha Gash ran into a stadium in Shillong and completed her 76 day epic challenge. She started in Jaisalmer on 22 August 2016 and ran from West to East of India. Along the way, we met so many incredible people in World Vision Australia supported communities. Their stories of challenge explored the many barriers that families can face in accessi...ng quality education. However, no matter what challenges had come, the overwhelming feeling was hope. We heard powerful stories of change and the desire to get the education that they deserved for children, for families and for wider communities. In this final video, we visit the community of Shillong in the mountains and learn about how they have over 20 years transformed their income and livelihood through the production of tea. The journey isn't over. We will continue to work with World Vision India to implement programs and use the more than $150,000 raised to benefit communities in India. We thank each and every person who has run, walked, donated and joined the conversation; all for education. To our valued partners, this couldn't have happened without you and over the next week we will be sharing many messages of gratitude to everyone who has taken part. Tell us about your #RunIndia journey. Without each and every supporter, this couldn't have been possible. Visit www.runindia.org.au to see how the challenge progressed and the impact of your support.

Take each day as it comes and remember you're running for something bigger than yourself; education. On Saturday, Samantha Gash completed her final steps of the journey in Shillong. World Vision Australia share a few words on the significance of such an event. ... "To many of us in Australia, the thought of not having a toilet in our homes or nearby is hard to imagine. But for many people around the world, this is the reality. This is why we are working to improve sanitation and hygiene in many developing communities around the world. Not only are we helping increase access to toilets, were also educating locals around hygiene practices - all so families can enjoy better health, free from waterborne diseases."
