22.01.2022 It’s Friday tomorrow which means one thing the Running Science Shop Run Is On! If you’ve never been to the Shop Run before it’s all about the social. No one is aiming to break any records so don’t stay away because you think everyone is gunning for a PB it's not like that at all. Aim is to do a leisurely lap of the bay with a like-minded group, all whilst having a bit of a chin wag about anything and everything. ... Topics of conversation of late have included in no particular order Trump, backyard ultras, UTA (on/off/on/off/deferred/etc), Sydney Striders, dogs, t-shirts for #backofthepackers, international travel (or lack of it), the weather (of course we do as half the group is British!), the perils of playing soccer aged 40+ and many other subjects. We meet at the garage door of the shop at 5:55am and head out at 6am. Usually back around 6:40am for a quick chat and a photo then we head off feeling pumped for the day ahead. If that wasn’t enough to get you along we have the infamous sock promo. Simply come along and run with us three times (you’ll want to anyway as it’s great fun) and we’ll give you a pair of RS Steigen Socks. The Rolls Royce of running socks. Free gratis libre! 16.01.2022 Im not a Runner - Running and Overcoming Setbacks with Warren Williams Everyone is a runner this is one of Warrens (Wozs) quotes to people who dont consider themselves runners. Woz is the coach of the Eastern suburbs The Run Squad, but is so much more than that. In this episode, Harrison chats to Woz about his running history, from the infancy of triathlon to having his life turned on its head after being diagnosed with a heart condition. Wozs story is one of hope,... despite the setbacks hes had; we talk about how hes overcome them, and how everyone else can overcome their setbacks as well. Over the weekend The Run Squad ran the Relay for Hope, a mammoth 2-day relay all around Sydney where along the way they ran past almost 100 members of the squads houses, picking them up along the way. This was all to raise money for the nurses at the Sydney Childrens Hospital Foundation and St Vincents Hospital Sydney, where two of the members work. 03.01.2022 Looking for a running route that allows you to maintain social distance? We suggest scheduling a hill session in as youre not likely to find many people going up and down a hill! Find a hilly street and try 10 laps up going as fast as you can, using the jog down to recover and slowly catch your breath before your next repeat.
