While many of us were still asleep yesterday morning, Dr David Lamb was presenting at the virtual International Society of Prec...ision Agriculture (ISPA) biennial International Conference. David is the Chief Scientist at Food Agility CRC and McClymont Distinguished Professor at UNE, and provided valuable insight into the resilience of precision agriculture in the Agrifoods sector. "Precision agriculture is about creating data-driven tools to support resilient farm and value-chain businesses and associated communities. It is the beginning of how we build trusted supply chains via data & digital." Within his presentation Dr Lamb highlighted how precision agriculture can build resilient farming enterprises in the face of climate change through natural capital on farm, how it connects producers to their physical environment and production systems through the power of digital technologies with reference to UNE SMART Farms, as well as its connection between producers and consumers, and how it creates tools that serve not only producers but also logistics and regulatory bodies. In short, David proposed that precision agriculture will help the agrifoods sector to rebound quickly from shocks; reinvent business models; and build resilience to future shocks. The Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships aim to improve access to and completion of #STEM (Scienc...e, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) tertiary education courses for students from a regional or remote area in Australia. The Scholarship payments will assist the Recipient with the financial costs of attending their institution and undertaking their Eligible Course of Study and Internships.
