23.01.2022 "Today myself and the other 2021 Victorian Rural Youth Ambassadors met online for our second forum. It was great to catch up with everyone and listen to their unique ideas and opinions. We were given the opportunity to further discuss and develop our ideas and hopes for what we want to achieve this year for our school communities. Although we couldn’t meet face to face the day was still very enjoyable and productive as the whole group is very passionate about the program and what we could achieve. I enjoyed having the opportunity for my voice to be heard by important people working for the department of education and training who really listened and cared about what we had to say." --Georgia, 2021 Rural Youth Ambassador

18.01.2022 Trust your gut. It was a big jump for me to move to Italy for 12 months, without knowing any Italian. Then I was the only one that moved to Canberra from my region back home. So I guess that’s been the biggest thing I’ve learned." Jemma’s had an impressive journey so far. Travel, uni, and working at a zoo. Find out more via the link.

17.01.2022 Rural Inspire wouldn’t exist without passionate young people willing to volunteer their time and energy. We know the power of volunteering (and we love our volunteers!). Volunteering is also hugely beneficial for the volunteer. If you’re looking to make yourself stand out in an application (now or in the future), some volunteering experience could set you up well. A recent article by @probonoaustralia highlights that for 92% of Australian employers, relevant volunteer experience will give a significant competitive advantage to a candidate! (Check the article out here: https://bit.ly/3cUwM0N). We’ll be sharing some volunteering opportunities later this week. If you know of any opportunities that you would like to share with other rural young people, please send us an email at [email protected].

13.01.2022 Just a couple of weeks ago we introduced you to Kirsty Heintze, one of our Rural Youth Ambassadors, who moved states to follow her passion at Flinders University. Kirsty’s story shows that she is brave and is ready to take on the world. She shares honestly about her experience growing up in rural Victoria (shout out to Murrayville!). Kirsty also has some great insights about preparing for the future, which includes seizing opportunities (like RYA) that will stand out on a resume.

08.01.2022 Back in 2016 Julia got involved as a Rural Youth Ambassador. Since then, she has interned with the Country Education Partnership and commenced a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. We asked Julia to share some of her thoughts about moving from Stony Creek to Melbourne and how she has found the uni experience so far.

05.01.2022 While I had a lot of opportunities in school, I had the chance to go to Uni, study a BSc of Science (which wasn’t for me) and I worked my way around 3 jobs before deciding to start my own business. Life is a constant lesson. There are sometimes no straight paths, and there are no real textbook ways. I saw students with ATAR’s of 98+ go on to do nothing and students who failed go on to be incredibly successful. The real skills in life is the overall grit and endurance, not the immediate success.
