25.01.2022 It's been one month since we handed over more than 65,000 signatures calling #GameOver on Australia's cruel offshore detention regime - and that once and for al...l, The Australian Government must accept New Zealand's long standing offer of resettlement. Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton was forced to address the issue on the record. He says the New Zealand deal hasn't been ruled out. Together, we can make them rule it in. See more

23.01.2022 Today is Nades and Priyas seventh wedding anniversary. Our hearts are full, seeing them smiling in these beautiful photos. How we wish we could celebrate this happy occasion with them, at home, in Biloela.
22.01.2022 Update on our friend H. Again this morning another one of our friends has been transferred by force with handcuff to Bita and when they got in bita, immediately... he has been taken to hospital by Ambu. Still no one knows what's the reason why he has been transferred to hospital. This has to stop. We Need to work hard to stop the racist ABF Boss Tracy. They're not allowed to confiscate our phones. They're not allowed to handcuff #INNOCENT Refugees #TimeForAHome
22.01.2022 2013/14 when the Immigration Department under Morrison had children called by their boat numbers & lied to the general public to hide the fact These letter...s are shared publicly from one of our ordinary Australians who have been trying to jig our politicians in showing humanity to all for decades [This is] a letter from Scott Morrison as Immigration Minister to me stating that it was ok to call kids numbers in detention if the guards found their names difficult to pronounce. I received it months after I asked Bill Shorten to follow up, and I sent it straight to the Royal Commission into child abuse because it was the first time publicly hed admitted that. Months later his staff was still stating that was lies and they werent calling kids numbers, not realising their own boss had acknowledged that was true. It still infuriates me. For many years I contacted Immigration Department Ministers & the PMs about this issue. At the time when Morrison was refusing to admit that children were called numbers, I wrote and called Bill Shortens office. You can see that the delay in response between when I first received the letter, and the response from the Immigration Department was lengthy. Id followed up numerous times. While the comment didnt seem very groundbreaking now - at the time they refused to admit using numbers for children. On the Immigration office numbers, the staff continued to say it was made up emotive stories by "human rights activists" and those trying to embarrass the government. So, when this was finally received - Morrison had never publicly admitted this before. I contacted Gillian Triggs office, and sent the letter directly to her. I hope that it was one extra piece of evidence used in the eventual report: https://humanrights.gov.au//forgotten-children-national-in After receiving this letter, I continued to call Morrisons office, whose staff continued with the line that no children were ever called numbers. I would quote back to them the statement - and theyd get shocked - one even saying something like "where did you get that quote.....?". On a personal note, I have a son the same age as another boy who was trapped on Manus Island when they were still sending children there. That boy, and my own son, were anaphylactic to multiple foods and it was a nightmare to think a child was tied up in such a remote place. I tried hard to advocate for that boy, but eventually, he was lost to the system, never knowing where or who he was or what happened to him. My own son used to worry that his own father (an Egyptian, since passed away during the Revolution in Cairo) could be sent to that same island - and used to see mothers with babies on TV and say, Mum - cant we have one of those kids/mums stay with us. He never got to spend time with his dad, not able to go to the funeral or meet his grandparents. The Immigration department made it hard for me to renew my own Aussie born sons Australian passport, because they wouldnt accept that I couldnt get a valid death certificate (and hence, expected me to get his dead dad to sign the form) for more than a year. I find it particularly galling to see that the PM speaks out about funerals and covid border closures yesterday with tears in his eyes - yet it is Morrison himself that oversaw so many children being separated from their own parents, in life and in death - including my own.

19.01.2022 "As teachers, we have a duty of care for the children we work with. But beyond that, I just couldnt turn my back on the injustice and unfairness I was seeing t...hese refugee kids go through. I couldnt ignore the inequality. I wanted to help on the global scale by donating to Australia for UNHCR, but also within my own community and school. We should all be supporting." For Dorothy, supporting refugees is a huge part of her life which is why shes leaving a gift in her Will to make sure she has a lasting impact supporting the worlds most vulnerable. 18.01.2022 Sad news from Philadelphia. One of our refugee friends has leukemia. He is having treatment and losing hair. Back and forwards to hospital now. Doesnt sound li...ke there are capable people around to organise support or even to get the details. His room mate I communicate with doesnt have easy English so not simple to get a clear picture. His room mates are scared for him and also scared about how they will pay their rent. Not a good time to arrive in the US amid a pandemic. I am working on finding out more. Then I hope to talk to AdsUp and maybe we can find a local support group or person. What seems most needed is someone on the ground to liaise with the doctors and case worker - if there is one. And maybe do some combined fund raising might be needed. How long will his medical expenses be covered under the Aus-US agreement? What is Australias responsibility? I cant even imagine how terrifying this must be for him. I will post more and possibly ask for help when I have a clearer picture.
17.01.2022 *You have offshored your humanity 7 yrs ago mate* Im not sure about that but I think Aus lost its humanity 7 yrs ago when they dumped/detained kids in Nauru! ...Can you please ask same question from Biloela family on Christmas Island? Can you ask same question from Fariborz mother? Reza Baratis father? Hamid Khazaeis brother? Dr Mirwais Rohani? Hamed Shamshiri? And the list goes on! See more

16.01.2022 Dear Sarah Henderson, before you go lecturing other politicians on draconian measures, destruction of lives and breaches of human rights law, you might take a m...oment to consider how your governments offshore detention system took the lives of Reza, Hamid, Fariborz, Salim, Rajeev, Jahingir, Hamed, Faysal, Kamil, Rakib, Sayed, Omid and Mirwais. You might think about how your governments indefinite immigration detention, for people who asked for safety, caused little children to give up the will to live, and stole the youth of young people. You might ponder the fact that, despite this, your government continues to indefinitely hold captive little Kopika and Tharunicaa and their parents on Christmas Island, and hundreds of refugees and people seeking asylum in detention centres and detention hotels on the Australian mainland. You might also pause to reflect on the moment you voted to take away access to timely and appropriate medical care from the people your government has abandoned in PNG and Nauru. See more

13.01.2022 Peter Dutton has evicted 100s of refugees from their homes in the middle of a pandemic! Sign the petition calling on him to ensure support for those families!
10.01.2022 Peter Dutton is EVICTING hundreds of refugee families from their homes - some with newborn babies - and withholding all financial support. If we don’t act now, ...hundreds of FAMILIES WILL BE OUT ON THE STREET. All we want is to see these innocent children happy, healthy and safe, but grassroots organisations are already overwhelmed by the pandemic - WE CAN’T DO THIS ALONE. Please SIGN and SHARE this petition and help us #ProtectRefugeeKids! https://www.change.org/p/protectrefugeekids-from-dutton-s-b

10.01.2022 1000 days since this family was snatched from their home in Biloela on Dutton's orders. Imprisoning this family is wrong. It is garbage politics at the expense of people’s lives. Shame on every politician who calls themselves a family man or a Christian and let’s this torture go on.

06.01.2022 Day 473 Did you know that there was a law to ban health care workers and journalists from reporting what they saw on Manus and Nauru. A doctor could be imprison...ed for whistleblowing on the suffering endured by refugees at our hands. Talk about corruption. We know there is something terribly wrong - when are we going to come to our moral senses!? #EndIndefiniteDetention
04.01.2022 Today the activist group Refugee Solidarity Meajin/ Brisbane have held a protest outside the Queensland State Parliament. The parliament was holding its last s...ession before the upcoming election which will happen on October 31. A press release written on Refugee Solidaritys Instagram explained the protest was a reminder to state politicians that international laws are being violated in Brisbane. "We would like to remind politicians that the blood of those who have passed away from the trauma and systemic neglect in the detention-industrial-complex is on their hands. ".... Human rights are not just a Federal issue theyre everyones issues. We must protect human rights or human rights cannot protect us. Australias so called immigration process is a disgrace." - Nick Ridley Story To Tell

02.01.2022 It is one-hundred per cent legal to seek asylum no matter how you arrived in Australia or your purpose for being here, said Sarah Dale, principal lawyer at the Refugee Advice and Casework Service in Sydney. If its by plane or by sea, you have the right to seek asylum if you feel you would face serious human rights violations in your home country upon return.
02.01.2022 "When a system can, without resort to overt force, compel people to live in conditions of subjection, helplessness, wretchedness....it is plainly violent. To ma...ke people live on a subhuman level against their will, to constrain them in such a way that they have no hope of escaping their condition, is an unjust exercise of force. Those who in some way or other concur in the oppression-and perhaps profit by it- are exercising violence even though they may be preaching pacifism. And their supposedly peaceful laws, which maintain this spurious kind of order, are in fact instruments of violence and oppression". Thomas Merton. See more
02.01.2022 Glad she’s home and hoping for a good recovery from her trauma. But this government is hypocrisy itself if it refuses to understand that our treatment of refugees is identical to Iran’s. We are using all these traumatised people as hostages and claiming success for torturing them for nearly eight years. Shameful policy enforced by people without conscience. See the First Dog on the Moon cartoon. Says it all.
02.01.2022 Great, but need more of the story, Congratulations to start with!

01.01.2022 Australia will let a man starve to death because killing him is in service of a national obsession with the security of our borders. The depravity of this is a stain on us all.
