18.01.2022 Farm Financial Management - How is yours going?? There are many benefits to keeping on top of your financial records. Roly Chugg, Northern Rural Financial Counsellor has listed a few benefits for you: - Banks and various other lenders will request well-maintained records of the farm’s income and expenditure for loan assessment,... - Farming is a business. A mistake sometimes made for new farmers is not understanding that their farm is more than just a lifestyle but is a business. Farmers need to come to terms that part of their working week is sitting at their desk and perfecting the financial management of their farm. Even by spending just 10 minutes per day updating records will save you time and money. - By tracking income and expenditure and by having the ability to do a reconciliation at any time, this will help the farmer with proper planning and budgeting and will assist in knowing the correct amount of money spent or gained from the farm. Roly says "Also consider farm business management resources. While a strong financial background is helpful, not every farmer has to be a financial wizard. If you do not have the knowledge, partner with someone who does. There are farm business management advisors, accountants etc who can assist with yearly cash flows, financial assessments for various possible purchases." If you don't consider yourself a financial wizard and need any assistance organising, improving, maintaining or even getting started on your farms financial management, give us a call on 1300 88 3276 and have a chat with one of our friendly financial counsellors

17.01.2022 This support is available to bushfire affected primary producers in the local government areas (lga’s) of: - Central Highlands and Southern midlands (Pelham) - Break O’Day (Mathinna and Fingal) - Flinders Island (Foochow) - Glamorgan-Spring Bay (Swansea)... - West Tamar (Winkleigh) This primary producers grant provides support to farmers and primary production businesses in fire affected areas with grants available of $10,000 and up to $75,000 where they were demonstrated significant impacts.
