25.01.2022 RDAV Board member Dr Skye Kinder speaks with The Age today, urging government and community to shift the narrative that healthcare workers need be heroes or martyrs during the #COVID19 pandemic. Well-meaning though it may be, the idea doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers can disconnect from worry about their own health as they risk it caring for others is not what they need to hear, she says. https://www.google.com.au//not-heroes-nor-martyrs-doctors-

17.01.2022 We have issued a media release today supporting the Victorian Government's continuation of COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria. These restrictions are difficult but necessary in driving virus numbers down in our state. While the number of coronavirus infections is coming down across Victoria, this is no time for complacency. It would be terrible to see all the hard work that Victorians have put into this all come to nothing because we wound back the restrictions too early.... For this reason, we support the Victorian Government’s decision to continue restrictions for a while longer, although we recognise that for many Victorians this is incredibly difficult. We have also welcomed a minor easing of restrictions for regional Victoria from 11.59pm this Sunday night. 10.01.2022 More than 150 rural doctors have written to the Prime Minister, accusing the Energy and Emission Reductions Minister of failing to protect Australians from the health impacts of climate change. 06.01.2022 We support the latest requirements from the Victorian and NSW governments around #COVID19 safety, and urge all Victorians to take the new requirements seriously. From midnight tonight, Victorians will only be able to cross the border into NSW for very limited purposes including education, medical care or employment and even then, with strict underlying requirements. While we understand community concerns about the further restricted border closures, we believe they are ne...cessary to keep this virus under control. We also support the Victorian Government’s recommendations regarding masks in regional Victoria, particularly where there has been some community transmission of the virus and where social distancing is difficult. Staying home where possible, minimising contact with those outside your immediate family, and only going into the wider community for the essential things, can reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19.
