17.01.2022 GROWING SOUTHERN GIPPSLAND FARM PROFILE SERIES. Growing Southern Gippsland's tenth video in the 'Farm Profile Series' introduces Schreurs and Sons in Tarwin Low...er, who grow vegetables for local and international export. Schreurs and Sons relocated from their Cranbourne property to Tarwin Lower several years ago, mainly due to suburban housing development encroaching on their farming enterprise. This made their land unsuitable for farming. Watch the snapshot video to gain an insight into Schreurs and Sons and how their journey may be relevant to your own. 06.01.2022 In light of the government’s advice on social distancing to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we are making changes to the following services: As of 5.0...0pm today (Tuesday), the Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre at Newhaven will be closed for face-to-face service to the public. The Centre will still operate via phone, email, social media, website and any other creative means we can use. As of 5.00pm tomorrow (Wednesday), face-to-face Customer Services and Visitor Services will cease at Wonthaggi, Cowes and Inverloch. Customer Service and Visitor Services will still be available via phone, email and online channels. If people need to pick up keys for meeting rooms, this will be arranged by appointment. The Grantville Transaction Centre will open 8.30am to 4.30pm for the Nurse Practitioner to operate (not for Council Customer Service). Centrelink self-service will still be available from this office. Where payments can’t be made online, secure payment boxes will be available in the Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Cowes and Grantville Customer Service Centres. Correct change is required for cash payments. Libraries West Gippsland Libraries has confirmed that services across Bass Coast are closed. Events and Markets Cancellations of local events are following the advice of state and federal governments. Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre All performances, cinema screenings and events scheduled to take place over the next four weeks have been cancelled or postponed. This cancellation period may be extended. We are currently working with producers to see if shows can be rescheduled and we will advise ticket holders as soon as we can if new dates can be found. We are also working through a ticket exchange process for rescheduled shows and a refund process for cancelled shows. If you are unable to attend a rescheduled show, a refund will be offered. Ticket holders will be contacted directly by Arts Centre staff with exchange or refund details in the coming days. Council Meetings Wednesday’s Council meeting will go ahead. To follow guidelines on social distancing, we are limiting seating and discouraging attendance by the public. See more

01.01.2022 Today we visited the Krowera property of Andy And Diana Thomas with regenerative agriculture consultant, Declan McDonald. The purpose was to film Declan talkin...g about regenerative agriculture in the steep Strzelecki Ranges. Filming and editing work work is being done by Drift Media who will be filming regenerative agriculture across properties in the Bass Coast and the Westernport Catchment. The end product will be a series of regenerative agriculture videos focusing on Southern Gippsland, Westernport and the Mornington Peninsula. The work is being funded by the Smart Farming In Westernport project. Look out for these fantastic resources that will be launched as a series on online webinars in June 2020.
