All are at Advice level. Temperatures are nudging 40 degrees in many areas and strong north-westerly winds are being experienced. 07.01.2022 This is the most positive news we've had in some time. The recent rainfall has assisted firefighters to put over 30 fires out since Friday. Some of these blazes have been burning for weeks and even months.
06.01.2022 We cannot thank you enough! Zac from Rare Cancers Australia has donated 10 full face respirator masks and 10 half face respirator masks to our brigade. What a generous donation to help us minimise the risk of getting cancers from breathing in the smoke that we are almost always stuck in the middle of. Our members are looking forward to breathing easy on the fire ground! www.rarecancers.org.au
06.01.2022 Another video with some of our members who were invited to the cold chisel concert. Our Captain John said in the video how our brigade has worked over 5000 hours and decided we were in need of a very well deserved night off! Thank you to all of our members for all the hard work and hours away from their families. You’re amazing!
05.01.2022 Severe Fire Danger is forecasted for a number of hours across much of Greater Sydney tomorrow. Under Severe Fire Danger conditions, leaving early is the safest ...option for your survival. Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety but only stay if you are physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions. If you’re not prepared, leave early in the day. #nswrfs #prepared
03.01.2022 It's been another challenging day for firefighters, working in extreme heat with dozens of fires across the state. The good news - the southerly change is headi...ng up the coast. It's already passed through the Illawarra region and is hitting the southern parts of Sydney, with temperatures dropping more than 10 degrees. Unfortunately, the hard work isn't over because the change will cause erratic winds at some of the fires we're working on. At 5pm, there's 62 bush and grass fires across NSW, with the fire at Faulconbridge at Watch and Act ahead of the change.
