25.01.2022 So as the cyclone here on the coast starts to bare down on us, well maybe 300km north if it doesn't change direct. They say it's likely to head inland as far as longreach before heading back out to the coast. Not 100% sure if that's true but if there is stuff you need to do then tomorrow is the only day you got to prepare. Be safe

24.01.2022 A little back ground story about why I put this page up.

24.01.2022 Tip - buy yourself some signs / stickers like what it’s attached. Then go around your property / workplace and attach them. While it’s not everything you can do, but at least it might make you think twice before you enter at the last minute. #ruralsafety #confinedspace #identify #farmsafe #wife #wives #mums #moms #dad #husband #son #daughter Lastly if you don’t know send us a message and I’ll help you. Google confined space cop qld or whatever state your in but all are pretty much the same. CONFINED SPACES are commonly found in vats, tanks, pits, pipes, ducts, flues, chimneys, silos, containers, pressure vessels, underground sewers, wet or dry wells, shafts, trenches, tunnels or other similar enclosed or partially enclosed structures, when these examples meet the definition of a confined space in the Regulation.

23.01.2022 Rural people, how can we help you?

22.01.2022 I’m sure you have seen this one before.

22.01.2022 Considering that #mpdavidleyonhjelm has a back ground in agribusiness I'm surprised at his response to the #sugarmarketingcodeofconduct but I guess if your disconnected from the people by distance who it affects, it's easy. The uncertainty of income not only impacts on the finances but the mental health of the people, asking themselves how are we going to make ends meet? Ultimately the safety is impacted. If you have zero power or leverage to negotiate then you have no choice. Well done #mpgeorgechristensen #mackay #sugar #fairgo

15.01.2022 So while I think it's not clear what are the best ways to manage the risks with #quadbikes this is clear, 1 in 5 quad accidents result in serious injuries to the head. Easy fix wear a bloody correctly fitted helmet!!!! #noexcuse

14.01.2022 A sad story , pray for a speedy recovery . One of the major hazards faced in rural industry, is unguarded equipment.

13.01.2022 Just another thing to challenge the bush. Take care of yourself and look out for your mates. #alp #mentalhealth https://www.facebook.com/AgForceQLD/posts/1499975573440645

09.01.2022 Generator use. Never use inside or leave doors or windows open near it. Fumes are very dangerous inside buildings eg sheds, house. If you start to feel ill move yourself to fresh air. Only use approved plugs into your house mains or otherwise use heavy duty leads to the essential items fridge/freezers. Isolate main power and solar if not done. ... Be careful as not all generators are the same as some can harm phones or computers. Check the instructions. If in doubt call someone or us for advice. https://www.ergon.com.au//storms-/generator-safety-and-use

08.01.2022 What a cool idea for dealing with bulk bags, what do you think? https://www.fledbag.com/?v=6cc98ba2045f

07.01.2022 Machinery guarding! I must admit I find it interesting when I hear about businesses struggling with guarding, how in this day & age can it still be a problem? Now maybe its the 12 years of mechanicing plus 15 years of bush mechanic apprenticeship I did with my dad before that, in me or the 18 years of safety and compliance I have since done. So I thought people maybe interested in my approach to guarding. This is the same approach I applied to the all of the blue chip coal mi...ning houses in Central Queensland for exploration. When I started working with the likes of BMA in the mid 2000s, there were no rotation / drill rod guards on ANY of the exploration drill rigs and so I was quickly adopted by Anglo, Rio, Vale, Xstrata for the same approach and standard too. So my rule of THUMB: 1. Does it move, is it rotating, is it hot? 2. Can I touch it, either on purpose or by accident? 3. If I can touch it, what do I need to protect body, arm, hand or finger? 4. Do I need to access it? 5. From that I determine the type of guard e.g. size of mesh / screen, fixed or interlocked or even signage for isolation sometimes, etc. for what is possible. Anyway I hope this is of interest, leave a comment of your experience/s or shares Credit for the photo of "old School Bush Mechanic"

06.01.2022 Old school safety, remember these from when I was an apprentice mechanic

05.01.2022 Sad event to not be going home to love ones. Lots of experience for what could be described as an everyday job.

04.01.2022 If the industry doesn't hurry up and fix this (not easy, I know!!) then the government will step in and impose laws, rules and banning. The challenge is we are humans and we make mistakes. We decided to push the equipment harder than it should be (maybe an Australian thing), do it quickly (not take the time), think the rules are bullshit (e.g. wearing helments, fitting ROPS, etc.). Thoughts!!!

04.01.2022 The article makes reference to the mining industry making significant improvements. Statement is right, so whats it going to take for that to happen? $$$'s, a thinking change and belief to start with. http://bit.ly/2DWGGAM
