13.01.2022 Shaded gardens do not need to miss out on the beauty of flowering plants If you are looking for a garden worthy plant that is both climate compatible and will t...hrive under the canopy of shade then South African native, Velthemia bracteata, fits the bill. Glorious pink flower spikes appear above glossy strap like green leaves in spring. It is a signature plant at our Heronswood Garden where they have naturalised under the deep shade of the Moreton Bay Fig (pictured). Dry shade positions in the garden are often the trickiest areas to find plants for. Other fantastic flowering plants for this situation include Clivia, New Zealand Lily ‘Matapouri Bay’, Geranium ‘White Gurnsey’, Helelbore and Tradescantia for its coloured foliage. #diggersclub #shadeplants #droughttolerantplants #velthemia #sharegardenjoy
