23.01.2022 A little like waking sleeping giants from their slumber, "Jerry", "Marty", "Delilah" and "Elsie", the Erickson S-64 Air Crane helicopters, have now arrived int...o #Australia after their long voyage from #Greece aboard the BBC Chartering ship "BBC Leda". They join "Georgia Peach" and "Gypsy Lady" who are already in country. The arrivals will be established on the port at Geelong, Victoria prior to making their way to their operating bases in time for their contract starts during December in #Victoria, #SouthAustralia and #NewSouthWales. A MAMMOTH amount of work and planning has gone into getting the aircraft here this COVID impacted year, but the teams at Kestrel and Erickson Incorporated are getting the job done. Now to the job of fighting fires from the air and keeping #Australian communities safe! A huge thanks to Dave Soda from Aviation Spotters Online for the images! And the team involved in the unload late last night! #TeamKestrel #AirCrane #Helicopters #AustralianAviation #Aviation #Stevedoring #Logistics #Geelong #Maritime #Shipping #DELWP #EMV #CFS #NSWRFS #Helicopter #AHIA #NAFC #AirCrew #TeamWork #AerialFireFighting Essendon Fields Airport

13.01.2022 If conditions are suitable and it’s safe to do so, Forest Fire Management Victoria will ignite a planned burn south east of Rushworth tomorrow (3 November). The... Rushworth Four Post Rd planned burn is 21 hectares in size and two kilometres south east of Rushworth in the Redcastle-Greytown State Forest. The burn is focussed on reducing the spread and intensity of bushfires near Rushworth and surrounding areas. We work closely with the Bureau of Meteorology to assess weather conditions, such as humidity, temperature and wind speed, and will only carry out burns when the conditions are suitable. We understand that smoke from planned burns may cause concern and encourage those who are sensitive to smoke to remain indoors and keep windows closed until the smoke passes. Under the current public health advice, our planned burning program can continue for now. If that advice changes, we will make any adjustments necessary in consultation with Victorian Department of Health & Human Services, Environment Protection Authority Victoria, CFA (Country Fire Authority) and Vic Emergency. Our crews are adhering to appropriate physical distancing and hygiene requirements to ensure we can safely continue operations across the state. 12.01.2022 Our members are pretty special people not only do they step-up and serve their local communities, they have a strong history of serving their country too. On ...this day 75 years ago the deadliest conflict in human history, World War II, came to an end. Hundreds of CFA members enlisted to serve their country and tragically, many never came home. Today we honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and the many more who returned and continued to proudly serve their state through CFA. We are forever grateful #VPDAY75 --- These photos show just a small selection of honour boards and memorials which feature in many CFA stations across Victoria.
