24.01.2022 Some more angles on the quality of HPM Legrand and their innate drive to create stylish gear that works beautifully and reliably - often pleasing me with its affordability. I’m looking forward to installing the Soliroc sockets around a new BBQ/Al Fresco entertaining area very soon. Soliroc are arguably the nicest looking outdoor power-point on the market and they’re built to surpass the toughest requirements for use in public and commercial spaces - which confirms their overall excellence and gives me strong confidence in their durability and functionality. 23.01.2022 My preferred and recommended brand has always been HPM Legrand. They’re the best of Australian innovation & ingenuity and most of their products are still made HERE - in Australia !!! I toured the main headquarters and factory in Prestons in south-west Sydney just last year and watched the impressive people & plant at work putting together 21st century products that had their genesis nearly a century ago!

15.01.2022 MOVEMENT SENSORS were once a showy, fancy extra - a piece of clever technology that satisfied us with the simple magic of switching a light ON and then OFF ag...ain - without even touching a switch - Look! NO HANDS!!! They were a game changer, putting high-tech automation into the hands of us ordinary folk! Nowadays Movement Sensors or Detectors are a common fix for a wide range of situations and the really impressive fact is that they’ve outlived their detractors and have proven themselves as an affordable necessity as opposed to being a clever luxury. Of course the market is rife now with sensors and the quality and functionality is wildly varied - an especially useful example are those fixed to the common, garden-variety Twin lamp Security Floodlight. Some Sensors are quiet, reliable servants and some are erratic jokers and, to our constant frustration, seem to have a mind of their own! Choosing the right sensor for the actual job at hand is as varied and complex as the choice of lights and devices they are intended to control. I have solid experience and knowledge of most forms of sensors and their use, and, what I might not know can be answered quickly and comprehensively with the support of my recommended manufacturers and suppliers. My favourite Movement Sensor for general use is the CLIPSAL 750 WPR. I have NO hesitation in recommending this honest workhorse device. It’s a dedicated Passive Infrared Outdoor Motion Sensor with the following impressive features: - Weather-proof/Hose-proof; - Adaptable for Ceiling or Wall mount; - Detection Field of up to 18 Metres! Covering a field-width of 110 degrees; - Timed Delay from 5 Seconds to 20 Minutes; - Suitable for a wide range of Loads including most common lighting, exhaust fans and small motors (which is in itself an incredibly useful feature). Its made by the reputable Australian giant - Clipsal - and has been around as long as I’ve been in the trade. (And THAT is saying something!!) The CLIPSAL 750WPR first appeared (i think) in the late 70’s and really began to establish itself in the 80’s when its rugged reliability and superior functionality earned it the reputation as the benchmark - the Go-To Sensor - for most Outdoor Lighting and small device control situations. As you’d expect there are now many different brands producing models of excellent quality and impressively varied purposes but I firmly believe the 750WPR can STILL hold its own in the midst of current technology as being the best, most reliable Outdoor Sensor at a truly affordable price. 15.01.2022 The best ideas are usually the simplest of ideas; Legrand have nailed it with this Smart-Device Charger - the new and increasingly popular Wireless charger combined with the common plug-in USB charger in a shelf format; keeping your device up and out of the mess! This is a particularly well thought out and well designed accessory which could serve almost anywhere - in the home, the workshop, the office - right up to businesses and institutions - in fact anywhere a robust device-charger could serve you. I’m looking forward to supplying and installing these excellent units - stylish, convenient and so very useful. 13.01.2022 I think these power-points are excellent - they come in different formats and can be fitted in a few different styles of plates with a range of sophisticated colour tones. 12.01.2022 If you’ve just purchased a smartphone or device that requires a Type C charger connection Legrand have added a Type C Charger to their well established, excellent range. I consider the Legrand range to be superior and, therefore, they are my Go-To choice for these needs. Keep in mind they also offer an impressive range of wireless chargers too - all of them are extremely stylish and well designed and they even include a fully weather-proof version for mounting out at the bbq or on the balcony or near the swimming pool!
