24.01.2022 Poverty is a national waste as well as individual waste. We are all diminished when any of us are denied proper education. The nation is the poorer a poorer economy, a poorer civilisation, because of this human and national waste. Gough Whitlam's 1969 election pitch for equal access to education.

23.01.2022 One of the great laughs of the campaign. I call her 'Rosalind', who now takes pride of place in the office. I don't know who did it, but great work.

20.01.2022 Anchorage Mark Butler intro and speech (I posted this in the comments section but mean't to post it here) Welcome everyone and welcome Mark, there always be a warm welcome for you in Finniss. So, I’d like to begin by sharing a story with you. In January of last year, I made the trip down to Port Adelaide as Mark had graciously made time for me to interview him on the issue of our time climate change. What impressed me most was he had a picture hanging in his office of Gough. ...Continue reading

15.01.2022 We've revitalised our city, and along with our stunning regions, together, we have put Adelaide and South Australia on the world map. I hope that today, South Australians will give Labor the opportunity to keep pushing forward with our progressive agenda for our beautiful state.

10.01.2022 The first thing to say to all of you is thank you! As I said in a private email to the branch supporters, I was very happy with the campaign that I ran and a lot of good things went right. However, with 24,000 odd people in the electorate with already implanted notions about Liberal, Labor and Xenophon, cutting through with my own message of politics in seven weeks was a tall order, yet begin to cut through I did. As time went by Xenophon's vote began to crater, given more t...Continue reading

02.01.2022 With David and Melissa Detchon this morning, who are handing out how-to-vote cards for me at the Port Elliot Primary School booth. Thanks David and Melissa!

02.01.2022 There’s a slow-motion car crash underway, otherwise known as the torturous, humiliating, unfolding leadership debacle of the Federal Liberal party. The first thing to note is, it doesn’t matter who they elect next because they’re all still wedded to the same hated, discredited politics of austerity, while gifting welfare to corporates. The number of candidates in the field just highlights the internal internecine ructions that are destroying the Liberal party. Punch and Judy slapstick over the office of PM is never an edifying spectacle. Whoever ends up with the gong tomorrow an election is the only way to end this hapless show that is the LNP.
