24.01.2022 Who would have known! An organic food mecca where anyone that works has to do some compulsory public cleaning work - well I bet the elites don't! Many Transibebrs head off to other regions once connected with the old Soviet Union. The Caucuses is very popular. Well, great food, wine. Stunning countryside, lots of castles and ruins. Great hiking and climbing. This small enclave missed our eye! On the 'to do list'. Has anyone visited? http://www.bbc.com//20200721-nakhchivan-the-worlds-most-su

23.01.2022 A Russian techno band ‘Cream Soda & Khleb’ have recently released a new video promoting their new song ‘Плачу на техно’ (Crying under techno). The song and video are dedicated to all the cancelled parties. As you can imagine the usual night club scene is just not functioning in large Russian cities The band also launched a flash mob with dances on balconies. This balcony music has moved from Italy where saw the first samples to Moscow! The band still had a commercial eye as they used some new modern apartments built by a Russian developer good advertising!!! https://youtu.be/L1Snj1Pt-Hs

21.01.2022 As the usual Victory Day parade will not be held as normal throughout Russia on 09 May we would like our followers to see what we consider a suitable online replacement. May of you may have seen the story of the 100 year old UK veteran, 'Captian Tom' who did laps of his house with his walking from to raise money for Covid health people. Well 97 year old Russian veteran, Zinaida Korneva, was suitable impressed that she too has begun raising funds. In addition as a 100th birthday present to her 'co-soldier' she sent him some warm socks she knitted! Something every soldier welcomed as a gift, to the front line, during wartime! Bravo! Watch her video! https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-captain-tom-97/30596048.html

20.01.2022 Just in case you haven't caught up on travel news. Qantas and Jetstar will TERMINATE all international services after 30/03. As we have kept indicating there was no time to delay if you planned to return to Australia, or New Zealand. Other major airlines will follow this trend. It is now at the stage where you must pay any price and take any cabin class you can find if you want to return. Cruises continue to cause chaos and confusion. We know of people stranded on ships in th...e Mediterranean with European ports refusing docking. With air service cancellations returning of such people, once some docking is achieved becomes a major issue. For some cheer. We have all seen video clips flying about related to singing Italians. Someone has made a small compilation of their motivational recitals. Italy is a close subject for us as we have a staff member based in Rome and an Italian staff member here in Melbourne. Therefore, family and staff updates etc are a daily event, considering the brother of Melbourne staff lives in the Nth epicentre and their 85 year old mother is isolating in the family home in southern Sicily. Wait until your hear the opera singer in Florence!! You know its real at the end :) https://youtu.be/DDRiINXik00

19.01.2022 We are sure we don’t have to remind people about what is happening in the world with regard to travel restrictions! We can suggest that we all keep dreaming and planning. Just like the Trans Siberian train going through a long tunnel. The train eventually emerges to the light and continues its journey. Meanwhile, we can all enjoy aspects of Russia via the many online possibilities. For the lovers of Russian classical and jazz music the well known Russian pianist, Denis Matsu...ev performed a one hour online concert ranging from works of Tchaikovsky to assorted jazz numbers. Statistics indicate that 1.5 million people enjoyed the online event. That is over a thousand times the actual seating capacity of the actual Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, where he recorded this performance. This is a long video, so sit back and while you listen and plan for when you exit that tunnel. https://youtu.be/tYjGbHdcE5U

15.01.2022 From 1 January 2021, many visitors will be able to travel to any Russian city using a one-time electronic visa (e-visa). However... From January 1, 2021, many visitors to Russia will be able to travel to any Russian city using a one-time electronic visa (e-visa), issued online at a cost of US$50 or less. At the present time, more limited concessions allow relatively short visits - up to 8 days - to St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Vladivostok and their designated regions. More det...ails here - eventually (this facility has been suspended during the COVID-19 emergency). https://evisa.kdmid.ru/en-US/Home/Index However, the list of eligible nationalities excludes Australians and New Zealanders, plus citizens of the UK and the USA. All part of the time-honoured diplomatic game of 'tit for tat', unfortunately. The 16 day duration of an e-visa would allow a short Trans Siberian program for other nationalities, but a conventional visa will still be required for a longer stay in Russia. If you're planning that journey of a lifetime, crossing Russia aboard the Trans-Siberian, Trans-Mongolian or Trans-Manchurian Railways, the legendary Silk Road journey - or the exclusive Tsar's Gold Private Train journey - you may still need to apply for a visa in the usual way. This prospect may seem daunting, but we know how to make it much easier, after 32 years experience! Countries which can access new e-visa Austria Andorra Bahrain Belgium Bulgaria Vatican Hungary Germany Greece Denmark India Indonesia Iran Ireland Iceland Spain Italy Qatar Cyprus China (including Taiwan) Korean People’s Democratic Republic Kuwait Latvia Lithuania Lichtenstein Luxembourg Malaysia Malta Mexico Monaco The Netherlands Norway Oman Poland Portugal Romania San-Marino Saudi Arabia North Macedonia Serbia Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Turkey The Philippines Finland France Croatia The Czech Republic Switzerland Sweden Estonia Japan

13.01.2022 Just in case you have missed the latest news read the following. If you have family, or friends overseas at present insist they return as there is no guarantee an airline will be able to provide a service in the near future. Also, travel insurances may not cover situations. Additionally, can they rely on the medical systems within the countries they are in, if the worst case situation happened? We are here to assist with any airline situations where a new ticket will be the b...Continue reading

11.01.2022 Many of foreigners are stuck in Russia due to COVID 19 reasons. Russian authorities are allowing foreigners to extend their tourist or business visas for up to 90 days at an official MIA office near your place of stay. You are best to do this NOW to avoid fines and deportation in future. For a service fee some of our partners across Russia can assist you with this process.

05.01.2022 Russian Railways upgrades services on the journey of a lifetime, the epic Moscow - Vladivostok Trans-Siberian route operated by the famous 'Rossiya' train The 9,259 km (5,752 mile) journey between Moscow and Vladivostok aboard the famous Rossiya (No. 2) train will now take 8 nights, one longer than the previous schedule, but now departing daily. Travellers will enjoy the enhanced amenities of the new rolling stock, including USB ports, personal-combination safes and hot show...er in every car. A new Moscow-Vladivostok train will also be introduced, still using good-quality rolling stock and departing every 2 days. Train 62, as yet un-named, will take up the faster 7-night schedule formerly operated by the Rossiya. International train services connecting Russia, Mongolia and China remain cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

03.01.2022 As we depart western Easter we move towards the orthodox Easter traditions from Eastern Europe and Russia. This writer has gathered together a collection of Russian and Ukrainian decorative, painted and carved, wooden Easter eggs. Found at assorted markets during past travels. Due to an interest in bee keeping I have added an image showing a bee theme and here follows today's folk history lesson on that thematic. Next time I visit these regions I am on the hunt for some bee e...ggs! Bees in Pysanka, Happy Easter! Historical Honeybee eggs. Bees were sometimes depicted on pysanka as a symbol of hard work and pleasantness, and represented all the good insects which should not be killed. In Ukraine, it was the custom to place at least one Pysanka egg beneath each bee hive to insure good production of honey. The art of the decorated egg in Ukraine, or the pysanka, probably dates back to ancient times. Christians embraced the egg symbol and likened it to the tomb from which Christ rose. Pysanky were thought to protect households from evil spirits, catastrophe, lightning and fires. The word comes from the verb pysanka, "to write", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. Bees were sometimes depicted on pysanka as a symbol of hard work and pleasantness, and represented all the good insects which should not be killed. Pysanky are typically made to be given to family members and respected outsiders. To give a pysanka is to give a symbolic gift of life, which is why the egg must remain whole. At least one egg was placed beneath the bee hive to insure good production of honey. Source: Wiki - Pysanka http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pysanka

03.01.2022 During this time of doom and gloom, one airline has come up with a way to protect its staff.

02.01.2022 A more arty end to the week! Many of us have (and will again) enjoyed Russian theatre be it music, or dance. This writer is, I admit it, a Greekophile and when I see Russian culture embracing Greek culture I get excited. When it actually improves something I am enthralled. The Igor Moiseyev ballet groups choreography of the Greek dance Sirtaki, known to most of us as 'Zorba The Greek', is pure genius. This is a short video, you can find longer versions. This is now on my 'to see list'! https://youtu.be/c9IJzUv_PO0
