21.01.2022 What a wonderful thing to do for our school community. We received a "have a BBQ on us" care package, including potatoes, onions, pretzels, meat vouchers and the essentials; wine and toilet paper. So blessed to be a part of the Faith community . Kindness goes a long way, especially in these times.

20.01.2022 Before I can start a project, I need to source the reclaimed wood and more often than not, this is in the form of a pallet. Then comes the job of cutting up the pallets, which is made easier with a reciprocating saw as I can cut straight through the nails which enables me to use the entire plank of wood. Each bit of wood is reclaimed and given a new life. A lot of the wood I cut up today will be used in an elective program that I am part of as a volunteer at the school my boy...s attend. The students get to build, construct and create things and this term the projects we will work on will be used in the SOLE (Sustainable Outdoor Learning Environment) program. I love that I can share this with the children and watch them develop new skills and an understanding of their environment. The rest of the wood will be used to create handmade pieces that I sell at markets, via Facebook or customised orders. Next time you purchase a handmade piece, think about all the time and love that goes into each individual piece and perhaps appreciate more the thought and care that goes into it too. #sustainability #reclaimedwood #handmade #supportlocalhandmade #madewithlove

14.01.2022 The lead up to the end of the school year is always a busy one. This year was a special one as my son finished up his primary education. I had the pleasure to work with his Year 6 class to create their "Legacy" piece for the school. They all did an awesome job at building a bench for their school garden and adding their own symbol that represents their time at the school. They used a wood burner soldering iron for the first time and I was so proud of them all I love being a...ble to share some of my skills with the student and getting to know them along the way. I am finding it a bit hard to adjust, but I am determined to make the most of all my other commitments being on hold and catch up on things I always push aside due to being time poor. I am thankful that I was able to finish my recent elective at my boys' school before all the restrictions set in. Here are the produce crates they made from reclaimed wood for their SOLE (Sustainable Outdoor Learning Environment) program. Altho...ugh selling their produce at the school is on hold for the time being, I can't wait for them to be used down the track.
