25.01.2022 The Dragstar coupe an all hand fabricated 29 A model coupe gets ever closer with the main floor now laid out. Rusties wanted to create a floor with no visable cross members and no box tubing this coupe will only use double skins. Rusties also fabricated the seat riser with removable side panels.



23.01.2022 Model A madness! Rusties is preparing to make a start on Deans A model coupe body code named the Dragstar coupe Rusties will be hand fabricating a new all steel body from scratch. Rusties has brought in this grey 29 A coupe for measurements and patterns and to be used as a buck for the new body for the Dragstar coupe. The new body will include roof chop,filled roof,steel floor recessed firewall. With all parts of the A coupe body hand made right here at Rusties.... 23.01.2022 Rusties has jays 32 hot rod in for a couple of days whilst we make some cycle guards for him and sort out the hood for him So after some stretching on the English wheel we achieved the look Jay was after

22.01.2022 Rusties is busy on the Dragstar coupe with the rear roof section and rear window blocked out in one piece. The window opening was all beaten in by hand with all four corners stretched in, The panel has lots of different shapes going on but if you don’t get it right the main roof will never sit right A bit more plannishing to smooth it yet to be done.



21.01.2022 Rusties has been having a dashing time this week on the Dragstar coupe. A 36 ford dash was adapted into the 29. A 2-1/2 inch upper section was formed and overlaps on to the lower screen opening the same as a 29 dash. New outer corners were rolled bringing the whole dash out 2-1/2 inches and narrowing the dash at the same time. The upper firewall has been formed and made a start on the upper cowl.... 21.01.2022 Things are really progressing on the Dragstar coupe. Rusties had to take the shop truck down to Brisbane this week to pick up a chassis package the owner commissioned the boiling brothers of California to hand build to his specs. So with the 1/4 panel in one piece it’s time to do a bunch of measurements and start to fabricate a floor for the coupe

18.01.2022 Rusties The final assembly on the Dragstar coupe has begun. With the floor finished and now welded into the main body, and rear battery, all the inner double skins were formed inc the panel between the boot section and main cab, The rear elec window mechanism has also been fabricated and parcel shelf. A fuel tank has also been formed with internal baffling and internal high pressure fuel pump to feed that 392 blown Hemi



16.01.2022 Model A madness continues as the rear of the Dragstar coupe gets well under way this week. This coupe body is completely hand built and the 1/4 panels are being shaped up the same way. These are the last external sections of the body to be shaped up so once the 1/4 panels are done it will be on to getting everything square and in measurements for assembling the main body for welding, planishing.

15.01.2022 Rusties rolled up a Lincoln Zephyr inspired dash for Sean’s 36 Ford this morning. Sean wanted a Art Deco style he will now fit the dash into the car himself.

14.01.2022 Dragstar coupe continues The whole main floor has been fitted to the outer shell. The rear parcel shelf has been installed with corner pieces. All the inner return panels are finally fitted these panels make the body incredibly stiff which will help with that blown injected hemi up front. Removable panels were formed utilising the diamond pattern and brass bolts these will give access to the window mechanisms etc. ... A full formed sheet metal seat is now well under way for the coupe. 13.01.2022 Rusties has had a busy week on the Dragstar A model coupe body. With the A pillars formed and lower screen sections completed A 2-1/2 inch recessed firewall was made to fit the blown 392 Hemi the Dragstar coupe will be running Next will be the dash and upper firewall and top of the cowl.

13.01.2022 Rusties has been busy this week making one of the biggest panels to ever come through the shop, at 2.2 meters long its hard to hang onto. Jamies HQ van had suffered some terrible repairs in its past but with a whole new side sail panel and 1/4 panel aswell as tottaly new floor this van is starting to come together. Rusties saving special intrest cars one at a time



11.01.2022 Progress on the Dragstar coupe continues. This week a jig was finished picking up all the measurement points for the boot opening and 1/4 panels as well as the rear roof section. The boot channel was the formed to tie it all together. A pattern was then made for the lower boot- taillight panel. This panel has been extended lower to eliminate the lower filler panel A models have.... Rusties formed a taillight panel that highlighted the very rare Chrysler airflow taillights and to reflect a late 1950s style. This panel was completely hand formed just the same as the rest of the body. See more

07.01.2022 Rusties is happy to announce it has now moved into the Helltown hot rods premises and will now be occupying we’re the motorcycle vault previously was. So drop in and come check all the projects happening at Rusties and grab a beer and burger next door in the dinner. We are really excited by this move and looking forward to some of the cars booked in with us here inc starting next month on scratch building a brand steel 1930 A model coupe body for Dean.

06.01.2022 Big week at Rusties Finally the 29 ford A model Dragstar coupe is coming together. Rear side windows where hand formed this week and finishing off around the windscreen opening was completed. All the rear roof sections previously made are now getting aligned ready to weld. Slowly all the small pieces are getting joined to make big pieces.

06.01.2022 Rusties is well underway with assembling the brand new all hand fabricated A model body for the Dragstar coupe. A roof skin is being formed for the coupe and will run 3 swage lines down the middle of the roof. The rear roof section and side windows are now being planished up and provision for the wipers and garnish moulds etc are all completed. It’s been allot of work so it’s nice to see the results starting to show

04.01.2022 Rusties had a chance to get the Dragstar coupe outside today for some quick pics. The panel between the boot lid and roof was made this is a tricky panel with so many shapes going on and yes the 3 swages lines continue in this panel and will flow into the boot lid. The left 1/4 has the wheel arch fitted now, with the rest of the 1/4 now made its nearly ready for welding and then planinshing. Getting closer ever week

04.01.2022 Jays 32 is back for some rear guards this time. The owner was after a one piece guard that was enclosed with all the braces hidden. So with a Maltese cross embossed into the guards and some old skool metal work Jay has the look he was after

03.01.2022 Rusties is holding a tips and tricks school on Sunday aug 18th This class is aimed for beginners or enthusiast who would like to learn some basic skills on pattern making and creating shapes for basic patch panels. It will all be taught on utilising basic hand tools and giving a better understanding on the art of coach building. The class starts at 1pm and will be apex 2hrs long at a cost of $45 per head with aprox 30 places available Please msg Rusties to reserve your spot ...
