Police say there have been at least six reports o...f "sneak offences" in the past two months. A sneak offence is a type of burglary where the suspect distracts the householder, usually through conversation, while an accomplice uses the front or unlocked back door to quickly steal items. Police says the increase is extremely concerning, with the majority of the victims being elderly people who live alone.

08.01.2022 Having been awarded the Australasian Locksmith Apprentice of the Year in 2011 and 2015, Ruswin are proud to invest in an extensive trade based apprenticeship program. We offer a Cert III Locksmithing or Cert III Electronic Security Equipment. Both qualifications are over 4 years with a combination of on the job and off the job training. Our apprentices travel to Brisbane to participate in blocks at Skillstech Brisbane. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeships, emplo...yees achieve a Trade Qualification. When a position is advertised we assess each application based on resume content that is relevant to the position, semester reports and any additional skills that show an interest in the chosen field. During the past 6 months Ruswin have employed 3 young men from North Queensland who recently attained Grade 12 certificates. Each have been signed up to each complete an apprenticeship. Two will undertake a Cert III Electronic Security Equipment, while a third will work through the Cert III Locksmithing. With ongoing expansion and due to demand for quality tradesmen we will look to add a fourth apprentice during 2017. The apprenticeship program is supported by an external Registered Training Organisation. Suitability assessments and progress reports are carried out throughout the training. This way we can ensure that training goals and key performance indicators are set and achieved.
