14.01.2022 I've had a busy month with weddings - two of them elopements which was very exciting. I will post a picture or two when the news is out. Gordon and Trina were witnesses and photographers. The way to go - no pressure, lots of love. Busy as always with funerals and I did a beautiful Memorial Service on the end of the pier at Kingscliff which was followed by a loved one taking his ashes on his surf board out beyond the waves and saying a very personal goodbye.
13.01.2022 Its been a busy few months with a wedding or two especially Ron & Debra Bossink on their property in Murwillumbah. A very special Baby Naming of Ivy Lee Ewing held at Casuarina on her first birthday. Overall it was a very busy time saying goodbye to so many. My Red Cross friend Helen Archer passed away at 100 years. Sadly the stand out goodbyes where to the younger souls. It was a privilege to be part of all their story for a brief moment in time.
07.01.2022 A young lady came home from New York, she had her dad's ashes sent from China, he was 66. This morning at 6am, just 8 of us on a quiet inlet near New Brighton, just north of Byron Bay, came together and had a ceremony to farewell him. The sun rose and his daughter with her mother and 3 aunts walked into the water, I stood beside them and committed him to the ocean and our universe. They gave him yellow roses and we shared a beautiful moment. Then...we stood on the shore, played ..always look on the bright side of life by Monty Python. Her smile was brilliant as the tears rolled. As we stood and and reflected before we left, a single dolphin came into bay, turned and headed back out to sea. All was well in our world.
02.01.2022 Saturday - what a day, rain, rain and more rain. Waiting and expecting the venue to change as wedding at an outdoor/indoor venue - Sam & Jay's wedding, The Abbey Cobaki. Looks indoors but no side walls however it does have a roof. Day before - floor soaked, benches wet, thought no way. Then 3pm arrived, rain stopped, by the time everyone assembled 3.45pm all perfect for the bride at 4. Smiles all round and just the perfect light for photos. Even the snake curled up in the eves quietly watched on. I suppose it could have been a different story - we didn't tell the bride.
02.01.2022 Hi everyone well a historic day this coming Saturday - Marriage equality day. As a celebrant we have not been given updates on the official forms so not sure as yet when our first wedding can happen. Currently everything is geared towards a bride and groom, hopefully we can download paperwork and let the celebrations start. Keep you posted.
