25.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK?... Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

Six residents had managed to self-evacuate when crews arrived however, the family dog, Betty, was still trapped inside the home. Thinking the worst, firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Towards the end of operations, with the structure badly compromised, crews noticed Betty moving through the rubble of the second story towards a balcony. Firefighters were able to use a ladder platform to lift Betty safely from the balcony and into the arms of her worried owners. Betty was very happy to be rescued and is being treated by the local veterinary clinic but is expected to make a full recovery. #MoreTheFire #PreparedForAnything #DogRescue

04.01.2022 COLD SNAP | Thinking of using a wheat bag to stay warm tonight? Think again! Only use wheat bags for direct application to body aches and pains. Wheat bags can ignite, and are not designed to replace hot water bottles for warming beds. Regularly check your wheat bag for signs of wear and tear or scorching. With age the fillings dry out and become combustible. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

04.01.2022 There has been a Total Fire Ban declared today! But what does this actually mean? There is always a little bit of confusion around what we can and can’t do around Total Fire Bans. When a Total Fire Ban (TOBAN) is declared this means as the public we must; Have NO fires in the open for cooking or camping.... NO welding or grinding to be conducted outdoors, NO barbecues using solid fuel such as wood, charcoal or heat beads. NO lighting fires in the open. Farmers should reconsider any tractor work/slashing on their properties. We can still use gas and electric BBQs as long as it is controlled by an adult and a continuous water source is nearby (e.g garden hose). If you see a fire please report it to 000 Immediately! #preparedforanything #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable
