25.01.2022 We have been pretty quite here at Rutherfords hobbies over the last 2 months. Theres been a bit of adjusting, a second kid, working from home, not being able to go anywhere. But we have still been kicking along. I’ve mad myself a new lathe bench, at the right height. Another 700x400 chop block, some mothers day boards, and couple of other board. All while battling the lack of modelling supplies thanks to covid. Thanks for hanging in. 23.01.2022 In my quest to create the best looking models I can, I’d stumble on cam nets. I hate real ones, and scale one weren’t much better. If I could get away with them I would. But when the subject your modelling has them rolled up, you kinda can’t leave them out. So to youtube we go. Grab a stretchy bandage like the one here, cut a bit off. Stretch it so it gets a bit holey. Soak it in some water, stretch it a bit more. Make it into the shape you want. Mix up some pva glue, water..., and paint/wash. Apply it the your cam net. Let it dry. 13.01.2022 So the last of the work is done, just have to box it up and send it on to its new owner. This gun car is modelled after ‘MAYBE LATER’, used in Afghanistan by MTF-3. I’ve done my best to finish it as close to the photos as I was sent. This meant scratch building the ECM mounts and slave cable, and stealing the antennas and stretcher from another kit, adding the left jerry can, 40mm tins and a mag-58 from @live_resin_models, coffin bin from legend, and a few other bits and bob...s. It was painted with the only actual choice for AUSCAM The Scale Modellers Supply, and detailed with a mix of TAMIYA, Games Workshop/Citadel Paints and @vallejocolours. Finally it was all pulled together with weathering gear from AMMO of MIG Jimenez NL. The base is a chunk of Mango finished with satin wipe on poly. This year teams from 6&7 brigade are going to conduct pt for 42hr non-stop in an effort to raise money for an Afghan memorial in Brisbane. Australia lost 41 digs to combat operations, and countless more to the battle back home. The least you can do is donate a few dollars to the team ‘Wallaby actual’ Never above us, never below us, ALWAYS beside us.
