23.01.2022 Saturday 25th July 2020 and Jackpot Social Bowls was at its best once again! 18 players rugged up in the 3 bowls triples ....while they were on a roll the Lake King bank was looking a treat with a new cover of bark chips and mulch with hundreds of natives planted. Awesome! Speaking of the natives haha.... winners on the day were locals Ian Baskett, Peter Nesbitt and Graeme Goudie who chipped in to plant their success! Good Job fella's! No jackpot winners this week ....but I ...reckon a ticket tonight in the $20mil would be worth a crackerjack chance at to celebrate hey! 21.01.2022 Rutherglen Bowling Club held their Annual Lorna Baker Memorial Mixed Pairs Proudly supported by Jamie Baker and sister Annette Eagland. A total of 14 teams entered on the day for some high class action, ending with 3 x 3 game winners. Draw of cards for who had the bye. In the semi final Ethan Fruend and Rowena Smith (Wangaratta) defeated Billy and Glenice Campbell In the final Murray and Lyn Scown defeated Ethan and Rowena.... Best last game with plus 22 was Ethan and Rowena but because they were in the prize money the money went to Geoff Ronnfeldt and Ro Porter who had plus 12. At the afternoon tea break farewell was said to Ro Porter who is moving to Torquay in December.. A big Congrats to our finalists and well done to Murray & Lyn Scown on winning this great event! 17.01.2022 The Simply Caravans and Campbell Wines mixed triples were held on Sunday the 3rd of January. There was a full field of 24 teams which enjoyed some fantastic weather when the rain didn’t eventuate. Winners were Roger McKenzie and Richard and Jan Hamisso from Yarrawonga who defeated Yvonne Williamson, Alan Holmquest and Rod Garthwaite in a 5 end final play off. Third prize went to Ian Humphries, Emily Manley and John Fisher. Fourth prize was Ian Baskett and Chris and Jane Langdon. Best last game was the Rob Burns team.

12.01.2022 Tuesday 28th July 2020 and it was all Lyn Scown sending them down for our photogenic player of the day! Didn't matter what way Lyn bowled she headed in the right direction :). It's was pairs today and another win to Ian Baskett and Peter Nesbitt who seem to be both in fine form at the moment. There were No jackpot winners as the tallies grow with next Tuesday now out to almost the tonne jackpotting to a massive $81. This Saturday's jackpot $32 is on the rise ... so co...me along and have a crackerjack at getting out and enjoying some fresh air. 12.01.2022 Tuesday 4th Aug 2020 report .... Straight from the north east pole! The arctic weather put an end to the last day of bowls, thought I’d seen a penguin on the green but looking closer through the fog it was only a crow. Faarout! Compulsory mask wearing while playing and socialising is on the high agenda. Well it was too cold for everyone except for 2 that put their names down (Must be related to the brass monkey family hey). ... We are now stage 3 lockdown, not quite throw away the keys with maximum 10 people per green and 2 per rink. Roll up only, no matches.... no warmth here! Only 1 person to handle kitty/jack and mat. No spectacles ... I mean spectators.. well you won’t need them either not much too see here hey. Face covering/ mask of course is compulsory. Apparently they come in handy too if ol mate on the other rink lets fluffy off the chain. Can you smell smoke! Hopefully back to social bowls in 6 weeks ... yep 42 sleeps! Stay safe and enjoy your freedom in the warmer weather ... in your own home next to the heater hey. There was snow at Stanley this morning as well as a little at Beechworth..... maybe Rutherglen in the morning! Brrrr Last time it snowed in Ruthas was when I was born back in 1966. Well take care! 12.01.2022 Rutherglen's Men's 100 up Grand final finally came to conclusion today with a great win to Geoff Ronnfeldt defeating Peter Nesbitt 101 -76. Geoff -5 and Peter on -18 gave Geoff a handy 13 point head start. Luck for some hey. Geoff got the jump early with a couple of perfect ends to run out to a 76 to 31 lead after 13 ends. Pete clawed his way back as the one armed bandits with their metal arms battled it out, a bit of a Transformer battle hey, with Pete steering home the la...st 7 ends. But Geoff had done the damage early and enough to hang on for a great win. Congratulations to Geoff Ronnfeldt consistency is what its all about. Bad luck Pete! Runners up is an honorable achievement. 03.01.2022 Some positive news on the COVID which at the moment is critical between states .....The Corowa RSL have extended an invitation for any NSW Rutherglen Bowlers residence if they would like to have a roll. Ahhh. Corowa social bowls are played each Wednesday and Saturday, names down by 12 noon for play at 1pm. They are limited to 20 players on those days, so names need to be in early. Contact number is (02) 6030 5048. And same applies to the Victorians who play for NSW teams... if they would like a roll at Rutha's 30 players on the day! nice!
