22.01.2022 This poor old American clock was very badly repaired before it came to me. Holes punched closed extreme amounts of wear in almost all pivot holes. I fact only about two holes from memory didn’t need to be re-bushed. So now with new bushes, new springs polished pivots it’s almost feeling like it was reborn, ready for another 50 years of work. It’s just a shame that it needed so much TLC to get it back to what it should have been and a lot of this was due to the very poor repair that was done previously

20.01.2022 Doing a very nice French clock, only some previous person decided NOT to rebus the holes as shown here, but to close them with a punch. (Note the half moon notches) . After I re-bushed the holes I had to polish the plates to get everything down flat, such a shame this has been done to a good quality movement. All of this BEFORE I clean it. Just spent a whole day, polishing pivots as they were conical and re-bushing. The pivots were conical as the holes we not round so making one more error to fix a problem doesn’t work, it just makes more work for someone else.

05.01.2022 I don’t know who serviced this clock last but it certainly didn’t need all this graphite grease. Just a little heavyweight oil is all you need. This much grease of this sort actually does more harm than good.
