22.01.2022 In 1967 the Rutheglen wineries bonded together to hold the very first Rutherglen Wine Festival, all financed on the back of a $50 loan from Rutherglen local Mos...s Harkness. ... The next year event organisers were shocked when more than 12000 people attended, and the festival would continue to grow from that point on. See more

20.01.2022 How many Rotarians does it take to find a faulty fuse??

17.01.2022 RELAY FOR LIFE IS BACK!! This year in Corowa, & next year in Rutherglen. Get on board & support this great cause.

16.01.2022 Despite the inclement weather and a late change of venue, the support from the Rutherglen community for the Australia Day Breakfast was amazing. Musical entertainment and The National Anthem was led admirably by Hans Duursma, flag raising performed by 1st Rutherglen Scout Group, Community Awards were presented by Cr. Roberta Horne, and our guest speaker Simon Killeen delivered an excellent talk on the history of winemaking in Rutherglen. The High School captains also gave so...me insights into the meaning of Australia Day from a youth perspective. Many thanks to Phil Rogers, High School Principal, for making the venue available at such short notice. Many thanks to the large number of Rotary volunteers for ensuring the event ran smoothly and that everyone was fed and wateredThanks to the Rutherglen Community for your continued active participation in this event. 11.01.2022 We have been unable to meet in person for some time now, and that situation continues for at least the next 6 weeks. However, the club has been meeting via Zoom every Wednesday, and we have been very fortunate to have had some very interesting guest speakers. Last week was no exception, with Nichaud Fitzgibbon providing an entertaining insight into the life and career of her aunt, the late Maggie Fitzgibbon, as well as providing some highlights of the very talented broader Fitzgibbon family including her father Smacka.

10.01.2022 Rutherglen Rotary went into recess for the duration of the Coronavirus pandemic a couple of weeks ago, but the Club wanted to remain active & keep in touch with one another. Welcome to the world of Zoom!! Things are slowly getting better, but after 6 months, at least, of practice, our weekly meetings will be worth waiting for!!

07.01.2022 At last Wednesday's Zoom meeting we had the pleasure of hearing from Kait Cummins, the owner of The Play Project. She provides support services to families with disadvantaged children and young adults. She has recently purchased "Quandong" (Maggie Fitzgibbon's former property) at Wahgunyah which will enable her to offer retreat programs on the large property which also has 2 houses to accommodate the young people. Kait's presentation left Rotarians in awe of what programs sh...e is able to offer the very disadvantaged young people that come from a vast array of backgrounds. Kait, an occupational therapist, was previously located in Yarrawonga, but the move to Quandong in 2020 will expand the therapy options available to these young people. Kait's talk was inspirational, but also very sobering, when we heard about the disadvantages these young people are living with, and the amazing work being done to help them manage some very basic tasks that we all take for granted. Thanks for sharing your story Kait and welcome to the region. Its good to know that these services are available in the North East. See more

06.01.2022 This won't come as a surprise, but this year's Muscat Run has been cancelled. After the success of last years run from Cofield's Winery & along the Murray River, we were looking forward to making a better event this year, but unfortunately that nasty virus has put paid to that. We are certainly looking forward to running the event next year, so hope to see you then.

05.01.2022 TRIATHLON: 23 years ago the Rotary Club of Rutherglen ran their first Triathlon. Over the years it grew to become a favourite event for local & not so local triathletes with the event structure being altered to ensure the safety of athletes. Unfortunately, the requirements from some bodies around traffic management has meant that from a manpower & financial viewpoint, the event is no longer viable. As such we will not be running the triathlon for the foreseeable future. The Club would like to thank all those amazing athletes who supported the event over those 23 years & wish them continued success.

05.01.2022 Four Rutherglen Rotarians, Steve Jones, Ian Oberin, Ken Baker & Kevin Kelly (to be inducted soon!!) recently ventured to the Corryong hills to join hundreds of other volunteers to provide assistance to local farmers with the building of new fences. The Rotarians worked alongside the farmers and other volunteers in highly organised small teams spread across various properties in the region. The countryside is hilly and in many places rather rocky, so the demands of erecting the new fences was physically challenging. However, to hear and see how grateful the farmers were for the assistance made the trip a highly valuable experience for the Rotarians.

04.01.2022 Come on everyone let’s get behind this.

04.01.2022 The Rutherglen Country Fair is coming around again & as usual is on the Sunday of the June Long Weekend - 7th of June. More information & Registrations for Stall Holders will be on the Rotary Club of Rutherglen's website soon.
