25.01.2022 I am really excited to be visiting Bentley Park College today where the students have been working hard to making up some Gifts from the Heart Boxes for Ruth's. Seeing young people getting involved is such an inspiration. Domestic violence affects us all.

17.01.2022 It was lovely spending the morning saying "thank you" to our wonderful volunteers. They do such an amazing job at Ruth's Hub. We could not run the project without them. Thank you everyone and hope you liked the gifts that Lauren created for you.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to three wonderful local women Donna-Maree O'Connor from Access Community Housing Company Ltd; Amanda Lee-Ross from Cairns Regional Domestic Vio...lence Service Inc and Kerry Carrington from Ruth's Womens Shelter Cairns, who have been inducted into Queensland's inaugural Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Honour Roll. Domestic violence is everyone's business and through the Honour roll, the Government aims to recognise those who have made it theirs. I am so very proud that we have such champions in our city.

07.01.2022 Two Year 7 students, Kihara and Claire, are coordinating a project called 'Gift from the Heart' to fundraise and provide essential items for women and children ...escaping domestic violence. On Friday 20 November, with assistance from Year 7 and Year 9 Leaders, they will be holding fundraiser including a COVID-safe sausage sizzle for $1 each and love-heart keyrings for $2 each. As part of the project the girls are putting together ‘Gift from the Heart’ bags for woman and their children and donations of items would be greatly appreciated. Students will have information on the types of items to be donated or contact Ange (Youth Support Coordinator) to find out more about this project. A fundraising sausage sizzle was also held on Tuesday and we had Shelly, the manager of Ruth’s Women’s Shelter, as a guest speaker. She thanked the girls for running the project and spoke to students attending the event about the need for this support in our local community.
