17.01.2022 Hello I am fortunate to have 20 tickets to Hudson circus which is set up in Toowoomba until the 4th of March. So we thought we would give 2 tickets away to anybody who books a room at the Ruthven Street Motor Inn from now until they are gone Only catch is you have to book over the phone and there are only 20 so get in quick. So share the post with as many as you can and if you know anybody from out of town who needs a night out let them know.... Cheers See more

10.01.2022 Over the last 2 decades online travel agents or OTA’s have become the main way people book holidays and accommodation in Australia. The commissions of these OTA’s began at rates around 2.5% to 5% since then they have risen to 12% to 15% in Australia and even higher in other parts of the world. While there are many players in the market 2 major operators control the majority of bookings in Australia. These 2 major players are overseas based companies that have actively acquire...d most of their viable competition over the past 10 years. The high commission rates are now a major cost to the business, that was not there before the OTA’s arrived on the scene. And contrary to some people beliefs OTA’s do not increase the amount of people staying in accommodation around Australia they just provide a service to make it easy to search and book them. It is no longer possible to operate an accommodation business in Australia without listing your rooms on OTA’s and there business practices and the way they treat small operators reflects their control in the market place. This behaviour and practices border on extortion as they pray on an industry that is made up of thousands of small operators who don’t have the power or cohesion required to stand up to them. Billions of dollars leave this sector every year to foreign owned corporations unnecessarily . It is time for an enquiry into this issue. Stand up for thousand of Australian small business operators who have been impacted by these OTA’s. Introduce regulation and guidelines they have to operate within that is in agreeable to the Accommodation industry or better still ban them completely and see billions of dollars stay in the local economy. Please help support support local Australian small business by signing an online petition here https://aph.gov.au/petition_list Thank you
