07.01.2022 Our #RemembranceDay - Gordon Williamson, grandfather of RV Solutions owner Scott. Gordon was a Private of the Royal Scots stationed in Hong Kong, defending Hong Kong in the Pacific during World War II until its fall to the Japanese on Christmas Day 1941 and taken as a Prisoner of War (POW) in Hong Kong. En route to another POW camp in Japan, the ship carrying Gordon was torpedoed and the ship went down - prisoners shot on the way down or eventually picked off by sharks in the... Pacific. Gordon survived for three days in the water before another Japanese ship picked him up and took him to a new camp in Osaka. The conditions in the camp in Osaka were squalid; little food and medical supplies saw many POWs perish in the labour camp. When the Allies prevailed over the Japanese, the prisoners were liberated; Gordon was one of 100 survivors from thousands that were at the camp. He was truly a tough bastard who refused to die and one the many brave soldiers we are immensely proud to commemmorate on Remembrance Day. Lest we forget
