25.01.2022 Todays commemoration of VP day had me thinking a lot about the effect that World War II had on generations of Australian families. Naturally I thought of my own family, my parents who were raised in the aftermath of the war and my grandparents who lived through it.

24.01.2022 It was a beautiful morning for footy and an ideal set up for the Mandurah Makos home Masters carnival. I loved seeing the camaraderie, the families supporting and the healthy community spirit.

24.01.2022 Homelessness is such a complex issue and one of the top concerns expressed by residents and businesses during my recent community meetings. I gained a lot from hearing first hand from some of Mandurahs homeless community and from some of Mandurah's volunteer services. To sit down one on one and listen to their unique stories made me even more aware of the challenges our homeless face and the hard work of our volunteers.

23.01.2022 Applications to join the Community Reference Group (CRG) for the Lakelands Station project are now open. Residents and local businesses within the project area are encouraged to apply by 11.59pm Sunday, 30 August. link here https://www.mysaytransport.wa.gov.au/lakelands-station-crg

23.01.2022 Recently I met with the friendly and talented people of the Mandurah Community Gardens (MCG). If you are a budding ( sorry) green thumb or simply enjoy a wonderful community space then dont hesitate to get in touch with the Garden. New members are most welcome. It was great to spend some time in the middle at the MCG ( again, pardon the pun). Thanks to all for showing Zak Kirkup MP and I around, and yes, for the wonderful GF morning tea!

22.01.2022 The weather is terrific today. Invite your friends down from Perth, I encourage everyone to get out have a meal, explore our great city and support local businesses. We are off to watch our local sporting teams Peel Thunderbirds and Peel United S.C for top of the ladder clashes. What are your plans for today?... I hope you have a great weekend.

22.01.2022 Last Saturday morning, Mandurah residents were given the opportunity to engage with project staff on the Lakelands Station. I got a lot from listening to the questions and feedback of locals and the responses given by staff.

20.01.2022 It was one year ago that No Pup Cleft Behind Inc. formed to save cleft palate puppies. Saving the much loved Bruno, who is now with my sister, the idea came from this dedicated team to form this wonderful not-for-profit organisation. When I say dedicated, I mean DEDICATED. Rescued from euthanasia at birth, the NPCB team commit to 2 hourly tube feeds for 4 weeks, then hand feeding until ready for repair surgery. NCPB's amazing work is 100% supported by donations, like the ones pictured, and fundraising. They will be releasing their very first calendar in 2021.

20.01.2022 If you feel like somethings not quite the same with someone you know theres something going on in their life or you notice a change in what theyre saying or doing - trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change, or even save, a life:... 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4. Check in Visit ruok.org.au For R U OK? resources you can use every day.

19.01.2022 For 10 years a silent march has been held down our main streets to remember and honour all those who have lost their lives as a result of Domestic & Family Violence. The silence of this march today with many of our community was a powerful way to raise awareness of the tragic and long-lasting consequences of domestic violence. Thank you to the committed community groups, charities and agencies working to prevent, protect and support.... Zonta Club of Peel Inc. @Allambee-Counselling City of Mandurah OVIS in the Community Soroptimist International of Mandurah Peel Says No to Violence

19.01.2022 Here's a great example of local business talent seeing an opportunity and being creative. Amber and Hannah @thestudioatsocialfriends have built an awesome new space in Mandurah for local content creators, small business photo-shoots and for photographers to hire No need for that drive to Perth!... It was terrific to see the energy and enthusiasm at the opening event.

19.01.2022 There is a Lakelands Station Community Info Session this weekend. It's an opportunity to hear about the progress of a project that the community of Mandurah worked together with our Federal MP Andrew Hastie to make happen. With the support of the Federal Liberal National Government, Lakelands is now fully funded. http://www.metronet.wa.gov.au/projects/lakelands-station

19.01.2022 Today is Vietnam Veteran's Day. On 18 August 1966 the men of D Company, 6RAR fought, with support, the battle of Long Tan. It is now a day for Australians to commemorate the service of all those who served in the Vietnam War. I'm particularly proud of my Uncle John, who served on the HMAS Perth in 1967/68. There's a wonderful picture of the Perth hanging on the wall of the Mandurah RSL

19.01.2022 Our local small and family run businesses need our support. Sign this petition to ensure our WA businesses get the help they need!

18.01.2022 Nice to see Symmone Kennedy, winner of the City of Mandurah Masters Sports Person of the Year award. Congrats to Symmone! 17.01.2022 It's not often you get a pic with two local Mandurah heroes. Thanks to Kirstin and Hayden for talking through their plans of Community Recycling WA for Containers for Change WA tonight. What was great to hear was how much our local sports and community organisations stand to benefit.

15.01.2022 Yesterday I attended the National Missing Person's Week memorial service organised every year by Zonta Club of Peel Inc. Its an extremely touching service held in a very special place, unique to Mandurah. With loved ones missing but never forgotten, the emotional impact on families and friends can only be imagined.

15.01.2022 The border has been a hot topic raised with me in the last few days and I understand locals views. The Shadow Health Minister Zak Kirkup MP says it best.

13.01.2022 It was good to see Brett Raponi - Liberal for Landsdale at the footy yesterday. Given the score at the time, I chose to keep the topic of conversation strictly to campaigning.

13.01.2022 Taking a break from door knocking to celebrate #internationalcheeseburgerday Where's your go-to burger joint?

12.01.2022 Friday night fish and chips don't get any better than what Ange and I had at the Mandurah RSL. It's a great place for a chat but the calibre of the local talent (pun intended) ensured I wasn't getting up for Karaoke. Local tip shared last night is to also check out Thursday evenings. Thanks Bob.

12.01.2022 Having Zak Kirkup MP as the Liberals WA leader is not only great news for West Australians, but for the people of Mandurah and the Peel Region. Zak's worked extremely hard as the MP for Dawesville. We both understand our Mandurah community, we'll continue to listen to you and I'm looking forward to working even harder with Zak in the coming weeks and months.

12.01.2022 Relationships Australia WA Mandurah and 4DADS wrapped up Thursday's #internationalmensday with an evening with Will Schofield. Will talked of his journey from family life in Geelong, his early adult life at West Coast and the eventual ultimate success of a premiership. He reflected on his roles as son, brother, mate, husband and father over this journey. Thanks to Will and 4DADS for this evening.... If you'd like to learn more about 4DADS then see the link below and keep an ear out for Will on ABC radio in the coming months.

11.01.2022 Today is #InternationalMensDay. It is an opportunity to celebrate men and boys in all their diversity. Let’s get talking more about men’s issues on International Men’s Day. This photo for me encapsulates a celebration of mates and brothers. It reminds me of friendship, teamwork and ultimate success. It would be the same without the trophies.... #internationalmensday #celebratemen #menshealth #stopmalesuicide #thankamantoday

10.01.2022 Another beautiful winter's morn in Mandurah. Perfect for a walk with the pups and kickstarter coffee from Isle of Lace Lakelands. Great to see the fitness crews and puppy school also enjoying the space.

08.01.2022 A great turn out today for Coastal Waste Warriors Doddis Beach clean-up. Professional, productive and fun! Item of the morning was the uggboot by Zak Kirkup MP. It's a shame we couldn't find the other one ... wrong size anyway.

08.01.2022 Bonjour Mandurah! Comment ça va? Frenchies at Lily Paris (French Café & Pâtisserie). Great coffee, delicious food and tasty sweet treats. Lily established her café here 10 months ago. Ideally located to sit in the winter sun, people watch and to chat to passers by. Admittedly, the puppies were the attraction. If you're missing your overseas travels then make sure you visit this gem Lily Paris and say allô. Je serai sûr de revenir!

07.01.2022 Some know him as Mr Burns. Some know him as KB. I just know him as Dad. Dad, I wouldn't be here without you. Happy Father's day!

05.01.2022 Like most Mandurah locals, I already knew that the Peel Health Hub was an important youth health facility in Mandurah. Last week I joined Zak Kirkup MP, Shadow Minister for Health and Mental Health, for a tour that was extremely informative. Im now even more appreciative. Peel Health Hub is a unique facility in Australia offering a coordinated health response. It's a one-stop shop for the health needs of young people, adults, families and carers in the Peel Region.... Thanks to Eleanor and Denise, from GP Down South, who made us feel most welcome.

05.01.2022 I support our local hard-working small and family businesses. I love having a local dive shop. Businesses like Nelson's Oceano Dive Centre employ so many locals and are the lifeblood of our community.... There's never been a more important time give them our support.

04.01.2022 Like most Mandurah locals who love getting out on the water, knowing that the team at Mandurah Volunteer Marine Rescue Group are there to provide that critical service of search and rescue is a great comfort. After years of seeing their boats out on the local waters I finally got a look at the inner workings. Thanks to the team of volunteers for their time during the tour and the years of dedicated and professional work of all the crews. ... Special mention to radio room operator/trainer Lyn, a neighbour of my family for over 37 years! Lyn, Ill be registering for my Mandurah Call Sign soon!

04.01.2022 Good luck to all teams from Peel United S.C for this week's matches. We really enjoyed watching the games last week. It was also great to hear the committee's passion and vision for local football.

02.01.2022 I'm passionate about the environment and waterways of Mandurah. I also hate litter! Here's a little effort from last weekend's walk with Ange and the dogs. There are a few local groups who do great work in this space. Tag them below in the comments.

01.01.2022 Technology and innovation at The Bridge Garden Bar. Select a table, scan the code, explore the menu, select and pay. Easy as. Meals and drinks then delivered with a smile. No queuing. Small business providing jobs for locals - love it! #MeetMeAtTheBridge

01.01.2022 Let's hope we never need them but it's definitely reassuring to know the volunteers of Marine Rescue Mandurah are watching out for us and have our backs while we enjoy our beautiful local waters.
