25.01.2022 WELCOME BACK The pool opened today for the 2020/2021 season. SOS registrations are today. If your child needs testing we will be doing that between 4-6pm. Our registration form is on the Council website and can be downloaded. https://www.portaugusta.sa.gov.au//Sink-or-Swim-Form-Filla SOS lessons start Monday 2nd November. 24.01.2022 Certified Pool Operator (CPO ) Course Summer is quickly approaching and with the pandemic currently under control here in South Australia people will be looking to travel and relax. This summer will see pools being used more than ever so appropriate training should be on the top of people's to-do list before summer hits. To help with this Aquatics Information is holding a Certified Pool Operator (CPO ) course at the Ryan Mitchel Swim Centre, Port Augusta on Thursday 22 and F...riday 23 October 2020 from 8:30 am to 5 pm both days (other course dates on our web site). Cost for the course is $455 per person. Should you wish to enrol please do so at our website (details below) and once enrolled we will invoice and confirm. The CPO course covers topics such as: Public And Environmental Health Act & Health Commission Codes Circulation & Filtration Disinfecting Agents Chlorine Treatment Bromine Treatment Ultraviolet Light Ozone Automatic Pool Water Chemical Controllers Heating and Air Circulation Water Chemistry pH Control & Total Alkalinity (Reserve Alkalinity) Hardness - Calcium And Total Total Dissolved Solids Water Balance & Langlier Saturation Index Microbiology - Health Problems Associated with: Organic Nitrogen Algae, Amoebae & Other Protozoans Bacteria &Viruses Occupational Health & Safety Inspection Schedule & Preventative Maintenance Schedule Water Testing Once you have completed and passed the CPO course you will receive a pool operator certificate valid for 5 years. THE ROLE Supervise the pool operations and ensure a safe swimming environment whilst assisting in the maintenance, cleaning and operation of the Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre. The successful applicant will have: Outstanding communication skills and ability to build positive relationships Ability to work effectively both independently and as a strong and valuable part of the team Experience in an aquatic environment including the supervision of the general public A requirement for this role is to have the following qualifications; Bronze Medallion or Swim Teachers Rescue Award, Child Safe Environments and Provide First Aid. 20.01.2022 As previously posted we are open but are restricted to the following numbers allowed in each pool: 50 Main pool 24 Medium pool 20 Toddlers pool... We will continue to monitor the numbers as people enter. To avoid disappointment we ask that you ring the pool before you intend coming to swim. 15.01.2022 Flinders View Primary are having their Splash Day on Friday 6th March from 9am - 2.30pm. Public Holiday Monday 9th March. Pool will be closed. There will be no SOS Private Lessons that day. Pool will re-open normal hours Tuesday 10th March.

14.01.2022 Today school swimming, SOS and casual swimming has been put on hold for two weeks. The pool is still open for lap swimming (lap lanes in from 6am), aerobics (tues/thurs 7pm) and rehab. Please watch our face book page for any further announcements

11.01.2022 Following on from today’s announcement from the South Australian Government regarding the six-day community pausing restrictions, the following changes to Council Operations will now apply: Open Sunday 22nd November Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre from 10am to 5pm. Lap swimming and rehab only... Open Monday 23rd November Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre 6am 11am and 3pm -7pm . Lap Swimming and rehab only The pool will continue to be open ongoing for Lap swimming and rehab swimming only. General recreational swimming at the Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre is not permitted at this point. All times are subject to change and restrictions.

07.01.2022 POOL UPDATE: Ryan Mitchell Swim Centre staff are aware temperatures will rise to over 40c today and over the weekend. Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 restrictions (in place until Tuesday 1st December), pools across the state are NOT open for public access to recreational swimmers due to State Government restrictions. Pools are only open for rehabilitation and fitness (lap swimming / water aerobics). ... We would love to see you, and we value your business, however, we will unfortunately have to turn visitors away if you are not swimming for fitness or rehabilitation purposes. We can’t wait to see you again once these restrictions have been lifted.
