02.05.2022 COACHES & GOLFERS I had this question sent to me from a fellow coach it’s important to understand (as a coach) and educate the student (golfer seeking ...help) that the learning process takes TIME! Training the brain to move the body (or club) a different way to what the player is used to doing is difficult that’s why it needs to be slowed down at first. The brain needs time to take in the feels and information it’s just been given. Once the player shows competency in the movement at a controlled speed, then start to ramp the speed up if they start to struggle, slow the speed down and repeat until you can subconsciously produce the desired movement at speed If you want to level up your game, click the LINKTREE in my IG bio to join my online coaching program through the @skillestapp. Let’s create a plan and get started!!!
24.04.2022 Low launching, high spinning wedge shot! Such a fun shot to play and pull off. 22.04.2022 To make swing changes we need to train the BRAIN! When practicing technique, you should be slowing things down and understanding what it is you are trying to do.... To many golfers rake and hit during practice, and have absolutely no clue what they should be working on and why. I’ve posted a full video on my YouTube channel with my thoughts and practice techniques when working in BLOCK PRACTICE. Stop wasting your time on the range and become more productive with quality over quantity. https://youtu.be/Wj701a2xpvg
17.04.2022 Talking with an online student who suffers from early extension, and tends to lose posture via standing up in the downswing. This is an exaggerated drill to ...be done without a ball. I’ve also asked that the student tries to hit some 3/4 wedge shots and some 3/4 punch shots with a hold off finish if internal feels don’t quite resonate as well as we’d like.
07.04.2022 Here’s a SIMPLE skill development drill you can do on the range to train your swing under the Goldilocks theory. Use this drill to practice shaping shots for w...hen you find yourself in trouble on the course. Remember the golf swing is never going to be perfect train skills often rather than standing there trying to perfect something you can’t! Full video on YouTube https://youtu.be/c1LwvoS5xEk
21.03.2022 If you struggle with distance control on the greens, this could help. Too many players give away shots on the greens due to poor distance control. It’s extreme...ly difficult to hole putts at the best of times but IMO it’s not that difficult to limit the amount of 3 putts you have so long as you have good distance control. This video WON’T eliminate your 3 putts for good but it will give you an idea on how to effectively train your speed control during your practice. Full video on my new YouTube channel where I’m doing some longer form videos that dive into more detail https://youtu.be/l6ZxTQDUwXU
17.03.2022 Talking with an online student about how to slow down the ball speed when greenside. 07.03.2022 Oldie but a goodie For those who struggle with taking the club away On Plane, this is for you! If the takeaway gets to far inside, there’s a good chance your low point will be to far behind the ball. Try this drill out
02.03.2022 In my opinion this is one of the biggest reasons why someone CAN & CAN’T make a change in their swing! Being able to stick with something long enough to master ...it, being in tune with how the body moves, where the club is moving in space, what the club face is doing etc. When working on your golf swing you are in LEARNING MODE. Slow things down and make sure you fully understand what you are trying to do before you add speed Don’t forget to add some competitiveness to your practice as well. 24.01.2022 I would like to sincerely thank everyone who I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past 12 months. It’s been yet another fantastic year, helping you a...ll achieve your goals. I hope you are all enjoying the game more and I thank you for your patience throughout this strange year. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday and I look forward to continuing the journey in 2021. I’ll be back coaching on the 29th December 2020. Merry Christmas from Ryan & Axle
24.01.2022 Another coach now review for one of my students. This player tends to keep the wrist positions in too much extension (cupping) during the downswing. This resul...ts in the clubface being in an open position for far to long which results in the player having to rely on extremely good timing to square the face at impact. Something that this specific player struggles with. By getting the lead wrist to move into flexion (bowing) during the downswing, the clubface can begin closing a little quicker and the player can focus on rotating the body in order to square the clubface. (Once again, this video was for THIS SPECIFIC PLAYER, and his tendencies, again... I take no responsibility for your game getting worse by trying this movement in your own game.)
24.01.2022 Its been a pleasure working with Ethan the past month. Hes made some great progress in such a short amount of time. Ethan came complaining about his shots al...ways going to the right. His pattern would be to get the arms to far behind him in the backswing, and his upper body would stay in flexion for far to long, with his lower body having no structure to how it rotated or loaded. This made the downswing very difficult due to the limited amount of rotation caused by the backswing structure. The club would always be stuck behind him, with the clubface staying open and the path being excessively to the right, causing blocks, shanks, tops, due to the low point being to varied. We worked on how the body structure would look and feel in the backswing, with a large emphasis on getting the takeaway in a good position for Ethan to continue rotating while keeping the lead arm in front of him. This allowed us to work on the downswing movements which enabled the club to return back in front of him. His words: I dont think Ive ever hit a ball to the left before... - Understand cause and effect - Commit to the changes - Do the work - Repeat Its been a pleasure! Looking forward to the rest of the journey.
23.01.2022 If you dont follow my stories, I posted a question asking: On average, How many putts over 21 feet, does a @pgatour pro sink in 4 rounds (one thats made the cut)? Some of the answers I received were 18, 16, 13, 7, 5... the answer...... 1.5 putts per 4 rounds!... These stats are from the creator of strokes gained, @markbroadie Why do I think this is important for golfers to know? Without realistic expectations, golfers think they should be holing every 8ft putt, chipping it to 3ft every time, getting angry when they miss a fairway... the golf you watch on TV is not a true indication of how the game is played on average week to week. What is shown on TV are the best players in the world, playing close to their best golf that week. What we dont see are the world class players missing the cut each week. I often find myself coaching players whos expectations are completely out of whack due to what they watch on TV... this is a perfect example of the truth on tour. So next time youre in the clubhouse talking to your mates about the 6 putts from 15ft that lipped out that you should have made, just remember that you probably have no right in making any... of they do drop, its a bonus #golftips #golf #golflife #golfswing #golfinstruction #golfcoach #golfcoaching #golfer #golfpro #golflessons #golflessons #ryanmouquegolf #strokesgained #expectations #statistics #skillest @pgaofaustralia @callawaygolf @callawaygolfaus @callawaygolfeu @skillestapp @wynnumgolfclub @markbroadie @andrewricegolf
23.01.2022 Been working with @nhogan111 for the past 5 months now and we have made some significant changes. I had played with Nev prior to coaching him and his ball strik...ing was already very good but he wanted to clear up and understand why his miss hits were happening so we got to work . . Nevs tendency during the takeaway was to seperate his arms away from his body at P2 which resulted in very little arm depth. This resulted in a very steep shaft at P3 which resulted in very little arm depth and the trail arm being in internal rotation at the top of the backswing. He would then have a lot of work to do in order to shallow the shaft, resulting in his hands moving out towards the ball during P5 & P6, creating to much reliance on timing the hands to square the face . . We created a deeper hand path at P2, which helped facilitate a simple movement into P3 by feeling more load into the trail glut and having the hands in line with the sternum. This created a top of backswing position that had more depth (hands in line with trail heel). This resulted in a backswing structure that allowed the club to shallow by increasing the external rotation in the trail shoulder during transition. The club is now in a position that allows the body to rotate and deliver the club with less face rotation. See more

23.01.2022 Working inside 30m with Jordan. Ensuring our baseline pattern can be used to hit a variety of shots. Jordan struggled to hit those high (ish) and soft chip sho...ts around the green. He would often hit low shots that came out to fast, with the occasional thin across the green. Jordans grip was far to strong (lead hand to much on top and trail hand to far underneath) resulting in a closed clubface during the backswing, which took loft off the club, and exposed the leading edge to much, resulting in a release pattern that required the club to pass the hands at an extremely fast rate which is tough to manage consistently. We weakened the grip (lead hand feeling more under and trail hand feeling more to the side). This enabled us to feel like the club would rotate open in the backswing which exposes more bounce and adds loft, making it easier to glide the club through the turf while maintaining loft. As you can see in the 3rd photo, the ball has launched higher along with the club gliding through the turf, resulting in the higher softer shot we were looking for at the start.
22.01.2022 We talkin about PRACTICE! A very important aspect of improvement is what you do outside of your coaching session. As the golfer, you CANNOT expect to improve b...y just turning up to your weekly lesson with your coach. There needs to be a commitment from both the coach and student if you both want results. Practise does not need to be at the driving range all the time. Working on drills at home in short bursts of time, can be just as good, if not better, than always bashing 120 balls at the range. Part of practise needs to be the amount of time your mind is actually present during the session. When you do dry drills at home, you can spend 5 mins of focus, really concentrating on the movement you are trying to make, rather than reacting to the undesirable ball flight that you have just hit at the range. Try this at home after your next coaching session. Do this as little and as often as you want if you want to see some real improvements.
21.01.2022 Very good read about one of Australias top coaches. Great insights from a top performance coach. Take a read.
21.01.2022 Working with Wayne this morning using external cues to apply a few changes. Start it to the right vs start it to the left was the verbal instruction with a s...imple stick or pool noodle out in front as the external focus. Here are some differences in the draw vs fade swing: Draw: - Club moves more inside during takeaway - Fraction more arm depth at the top - Club more inside hands at club parallel (downswing) - Ball starts right of target Fade: - Club moves less inside than draw swing during takeaway - Less arm depth at the top compared to draw swing - Club in line with hands at club parallel (downswing) - Ball starts online or slightly left of target All these movements and positions happen subconsciously when trying to hit a particular shape. Some players may need more internal cues and some need external. Do you make changes best with external cues or internal cues?

20.01.2022 A day of firsts for my good friend Stephen Whale today!!! You work hard on your game and its great to see you are reaping the rewards for your efforts.
20.01.2022 Working with a player that has the complete opposite than most on the coaching tee. This player has an extreme rightward path (in to out hook) and a closed club... face, compared to most golfers who have a leftward path (out to in slice) and an open club face. This players tendencies would be to take the club back a fraction to far inside during the takeaway and a fraction across the line at the top of the backswing. This player would then steepen the club excessively to start the downswing, which essentially eliminates rotation during the downswing. In order for the club to shallow, the body has to back up excessively and this forces the club to far behind the body. From there, the golfer has no choice but to throw the hands at the ball to find a way to get club on ball, resulting in a very high handle at impact and a path that moves excessively to the right which, depending on club face, can cause huge blocks and hooks. In the follow through, the club tracks to much down the ball line, resulting in a very high finish position. In order to neutralise this kind of movement, we kept the club in front of the body during the initial takeaway position and controlled the rotation of the body and placed awareness on where the hands and arms were in relation to the chest mid way back. From there, we focused on how impact would look like and how it would feel. Increased pressure on the lead side, lower body and chest feeling more open, club working more to the left and hands and arms lower and more around the body. This created a feeling of the upper body pivoting around the lower body to hit the ball. Youll see the flightscope numbers that he had before and the numbers that the feel generated afterwards.
20.01.2022 If you are consistently coming up short of the green with your approach shots, in this video I explain some reasons why. I credit Scott Fawcett and his DECADE system for providing the tools for me to spread this message.
19.01.2022 Working with one of the best workers Wynnum has ever seen! Always a pleasure working with players that really want to improve. Stephen was having trouble with ...greenside chipping. He had some issues with the typical fat and thin shot when next to the green. We got to work! Stephen would take the club back a bit to far for this particular shot, resulting in a slight over rotation and to long of a swing which resulted in mixed tempos. He has a habit of lengthening his right arm/elbow in the downswing, which cause one of two shots... fat shots appear if he sticks the club in the ground or he will react and miss the turf altogether resulting in a thin shot through the green. We focused our attention on limiting how far the club traveled in the backswing and placed awareness on what movement hits the ball. For Stephen, he needs to reduce the amount of lengthening in his right arm, so we worked on rotation of the torso, while feeling like the right elbow was staying connected during the pivot. This reduced the lengthening and turf interaction improved as a result. Along with the technical side, we used a simple ladder drill to help with swing length and tempo, challenges are something that should be included once the player shows competency in a new movement. Ladder Drill: - 20 balls allowed to complete challenge - Space each alignment stick 10ft apart (Depending on golfers skill level) - Must make in first ladder to move onto the next
18.01.2022 First time working with Wayne. Really fun session talking and playing around with some drills in order to turn this action around. After hearing from multiple ...sources that we should stack our pressure forward, hands in front of the ball and hit down, we quickly got to work and talked through why these concepts make it extremely difficult to hit chip shots in this manner. Why BEFORE makes it extremely difficult: - Pressure to far forward and handle to far forward creates a steep on top of steep action - Limited backswing length causes excessive horizontal force across the grip - In order for the leading edge not to get stuck into the ground, the body backs up and the lead hand goes into to much extension in an attempt to lose the excessive forward shaft lean - Due to all these movements, the body has stayed down and is extremely under rotated, making distance control basically impossible Why AFTER works better: - More neutral setup in the body and less shaft lean with the club at setup. - Longer backswing via the right hand only drill, to feel a softer right arm and letting the weight of the club dictate the amount of hinge needed - As the body starts rotation during the downswing, the club naturally releases in sync with the body - During the through swing, the elbows are staying closer to the rib cage while continuing through to the finish. Worked on prior via the T-Rex drill Are these good changes during the session... absolutely. Have these new found movements and skills been learnt yet... no. This is just a small piece of the puzzle but excited to start the journey.

16.01.2022 Using Gravity Fit is an essential tool when Im coaching everyday. It provides the student feedback on posture control and connection during the golf swing. I e...xplain in detail how this can be used for every golfer who struggles with poor posture and disconnection during the backswing especially. See more
16.01.2022 Group coaching program week 1/6, working through understanding their own individual shot patterns/dispersions. Next week will be on course playing from a varie...ty of distances and learning how to play effectively using their shot patterns to pick the correct shot and targets. Some takeaways from these players: - Understanding that a straight shot is unlikely - Allowing for your shot pattern - Managing expectations Looking forward to next week
15.01.2022 Here is an example of one of my coaching sessions, and how I would go about explaining the changes needed to one of my students Before: The student has a weak ...right hand grip and rotates his forearms excessively to the right during the takeaway which adds to much extension in the left hand. As he continues to the top of his swing, he adds even more rotation in his forearms, causing the club-face to be excessively open at the top of the backswing. Due to the clubface being so open, he has to cast the club and flip the hands through impact in an attempt to square the face. There is no pressure shift back to his lead side and very limited rotation. After: We are strengthening the right hand grip, and feeling the forearms rotate to the left during the takeaway, this will allow the left hand to move into flexion and keep the clubface looking at the ball line for a longer period of time. Maintaining the wrist angles we have set in the takeaway, we are going to rotate to the top, where the club face is now on the square/shut side, and thus allowing the body to transition into the downswing using the correct sequence and rotation.
15.01.2022 We often post all the GOOD LOOKING swings and results of our players, but this post is more than just a change in look, it’s about a change in concept that ...everyone can learn from. Here I have a student who struggles to control his distance and contact when it comes to short game. This is why: Problem: - Short backswing doesn’t allow for enough energy to be produced into the ball - The energy then comes from the player needing to sharply accelerate the club to apply speed - This applies to much handle drag and causes all sorts of problems - Hands in the follow through becomes excessively high. An indication that the player has applied acceleration in the incorrect area Solution: - longer backswing allows the club head to generate enough speed necessary on the way down - The player no longer needs to add excessive acceleration to the handle, they can let the club head fall and reduce handle drag - Hands in the follow through will finish lower, due to the limited sharp acceleration through impact There are obviously other issues at play here that can help improve this players short game even more. Ensuring they understand correct concepts is key.
15.01.2022 Working with my junior match play nemesis from back in the day Daniel came looking for some direction in his game and complained of having a two way miss (b...lock cut & pull draw) Very strong action, plenty of speed but just needed to get some direction in his golf swing to start seeing a more predictable ball flight. Daniel set up to the ball with a lot of spine tilt away from the target. He plays his ball position forward in his stance so this combination becomes a bit hard to match up at times. Daniel had the classic junior golf power move of being over active with the lower body. To much lower body slide towards the target resulting in the upper body tilting to far away from the target (backing up) causes the hands to flip in order to square the face, resulting in exceptional timing to hit the ball where he wants. We started by setting up with less spine angle at address and feeling more on top rather than tilting away from the target. We felt like the upper body was rotating more in top of the lower body, and the club was moving more to the right through impact (left for a right hander). When the upper body moved more on top of the lower, we were able to hit the ball with more body rotation and less club face rotation than before. You can see how the body hangs back a lot less in the After photo. We did a few freeze swings where Daniel would stop 3/4 back... pause for 3 seconds... then rotate. This slows the brain down and forces you to use a different movement that whats its used to. Great way to implement swing changes by training the brain how to change the movement. Remember, there is no such thing as muscle memory
14.01.2022 Bit if a different post this one but I feel It’s really important to talk about... When working with players, I always try and have the conversation with them a...bout how this game takes weeks, months, years, and decades to improve. When I work with club members, there is an element of getting their score to reduce as quickly as possible and then there’s those players that are in it for the long haul and we can make changes that make them better in the long term. These photos represent a change made today and some exaggerated feels of a movement we are working on. These are not going to feel comfortable to start with but over time with start to feel normal. The shot itself wasn’t that good but the movements were fantastic. This brings me to how people view improvement. When making changes, ignore contact with the ball. Get comfortable making the movements required and the ball flight will improve in time. Guess what... it might take you 30mins, 60mins, days, weeks, months or years to get fully comfortable but with the right attitude and a growth mindset you can get better. I’ve said this to a few players lately and it’s really hit home with them - Who gives a s*** if you hit a bad golf shot or lose a ball - Who cares about protecting your handicap - You play a poor round of golf and then what... you go home to your wife and kids and carry on living your life - WHO CARES! Just stick to the process of getting better everyday and you’ll see improvements in the future. Take this attitude to the course next time and see what happens when you stop caring about the end result. Accept the result in full
13.01.2022 Tidying up the backswing with Sam. Working and understanding how the club and face should work & to help the body move better which all influence impact! Befo...re Sam has worked hard in previous weeks to stop his forearms rolling excessively causing the club to get inside. Due to this motion being his norm, he still has a tendency to rotate the lead arm to much to the right, causing the trail shoulder to max out its external rotation, which then lays the club off to much and opens the clubface. This forces his downswing to steepen and keeps the clubface open for too long, resulting in a lot of toe strikes and a ball that starts right of target. After We placed awareness on the takeaway as we are looking for the hand path to stay in, and the clubface to look at the ball line for longer (no forearm rotation). From there we can continue our turn while maintaining depth in the lead arm. From there we placed awareness on the handpath during the downswing while he rotated to impact. The clubface was now in a position for the ball to start more in line with our chosen start line. With Sam being at school and at the age where a heap of school work is involved, along with playing other sports, we continually talk about the amount of progress we are going to make in between coaching sessions. The more you do, the faster you will improve, the less you do, the longer the process takes. As long as all parties are aware of what improvement looks like, thats all we can ask for. Be patient & have fun with the progress youre making
13.01.2022 Live Q&A - Do YouTube Lessons Really Work?
13.01.2022 Working with Sam creating some structured club positions in the backswing. Sam has a tendency and disconnect the arms from the body during the takeaway by exc...essively rotating the lead forearm to the right. This gets the club head behind the hands very early on and creates very little depth in the hand path during the takeaway. Because of the tendencies mentioned above, the arms have very little depth, causing Sam to lift the arms in order to get to the top of the backswing. The club then gets extremely laid off which creates a steepening movement in the downswing, resulting in an inconsistent strike pattern. During the takeaway we worked on keeping the hands on top of the toe line while the club stayed more outside the hands. We limited the amount of forearm rotation to the right to help limit the excessive rolling of the club head. Because he had more depth in the hand path earlier, Sam was able to continue rotating to the top rather while maintaining depth, rather than just lifting the arms. This helped create a better downswing sequence and club delivery. There is much more work to be done but as a junior golfer (or anyone for that matter) its all about enjoying the process of getting better week by week, and staying patient when going through changes. I cant stress this enough to every junior golfer AND PARENT... this game is for life, stay patient and enjoy the journey.
13.01.2022 Working with a WGC member, talking about a variety of ways to play shots around the greens. - Reducing handle drag - Slowing down ball speed - Loft control... - Radius control - Learning about the factors that go into controlling distance Really fun session with very little technical information given out to get the result. Optimising the learning environment for the student to learn on their own.
12.01.2022 Playing some holes with Dominic Sharp this morning... I reckon he’s got more speed in him too... 128mph club head speed & 180mph ball speed sounds different...
12.01.2022 Been working with this beginner golfer for a month now and we are making great strides on the golf swing. Heath has a typical beginner golfers pattern where hi...s body movements were that of someone who would just throw the body, hands and arms at the ball in an attempt to get under or lift the ball for it to get airborne. There was a lot of lateral movement off the ball, a lot of loss of posture movements and his centre of mass would move way to far to the trail side throughout the backswing, making it extremely difficult to control his low point. We spoke about how the body should move to create low point control. A simple drill with an alignment stick through the belt loops and one across the shoulders placed awareness on how the lower and upper body moves in the golf swing. This kept him from moving his body to far off the ball in a lateral motion, and also placed awareness on how to manage rotation and tilts in the golf swing. We also worked on a basic grip in order for the hands and arms to function effectively to compliment the turn he was making, and also placing awareness on his arm structure while rotating in the backswing. A few training aids we have used in the month have been: 1. Gravity Fit (Movement awareness & connection) 2. Tour Striker Smart Ball (Radius control) 3. Alignment sticks (Movement & impact) 4. Force pedals (Pressure shifts) 5. Superspeed sticks (Wrist movements and speed) Heaths ball striking is night and day compared to our first session. Some drills or homework I have given him are: 1. At home mirror work to see and feel movements 2. Slow motion swings to really feel movement 3. Limited balls at range. 20-30 balls max, each ball with purpose Exited to continue the journey

09.01.2022 Live Q&A - Block Practise vs Random Practise
09.01.2022 If youre a player that hits the occasional block or snap hook, this could be very helpful for you. Of course, this is not the antidote for everyone but it may ...help some of you. (I take no responsibility in your game getting worse as a result of you doing this as I havent seen your swing) *Coach now post for one of my students*
07.01.2022 Great morning working with @mitchywilson27 on his game. Played some holes to find shot tendencies then got to work on the range Mitch came hitting weak fades to... the right that werent going as far as they should. He had a tendency to aim right of target which didnt help his swing flaws Mitch would take the club away with to much forearm rotation and very limited body rotation. From there, he would lay the club off at the top with an open face. In the downswing (because he aimed to the right) he would steepen the club in order to get it back in front, resulting in a very leftward path, minimal loft and a weak fade to the right We addressed the takeaway and worked on creating more arm depth in the takeaway and keeping the clubface looking at the ball line for longer. From there we wanted the trail hip and lead arm to get deeper with the feeling of the club crossing the line. From there Mitch was able to shallow the club and rotate his body more effectively resulting in way more club head speed, higher ball flight and a more consistent ball flight Great changes made in such a short period of time.
07.01.2022 In this video I explain the keys to hitting that all elusive low launching, high spinning wedge shot 1. The importance of quality equipment 2. What the club sho...uld be doing throughout the motion 3. The way the body moves to produce the desired flight 4. Some numbers to look out for if youre using a launch monitor If you can become better at controlling your flight & spin inside 100y, you will improve your distance control and thus lead to more putts inside 15ft.
07.01.2022 Using the Gravity Fit T-Pro to place awareness on connection during the takeaway. Disconnecting the arms away from the torso during the takeaway (for the major...ity of golfers) usually results in the player having to reconnect at some point in the swing, and if not timed correctly, causes the golfer to create depth late in the golf swing via to much side bend of the torso in an attempt to shallow the club, causing excessive flipping/club face rotation. Very timing dependent. See more
06.01.2022 Little bit of indoor work during a rainy day. Perfect environment to work on our putting stroke and talk about the importance of setup and it’s influence on sta...rt line and distance control Changing posture by adding more bend from the pelvis, which allowed the elbows to sit closer to the rib cage, allowing the torso to take more control of the stroke. An improvement in start line, face contact, stroke mechanics and movement.
05.01.2022 Good to have Daniel back in action again. Some time off caused a few old habits to creep back in but we are committed to improvement for as long as it takes. Us...ing the gravity fit T-Pro for posture awareness and body rotation. Working on a few drills and feels to increase depth in the body and get the hands higher and more in front. See more

04.01.2022 It was a pleasure helping out good friend & ex pro Tom Callender the other day. Subtle changes that are not massively obvious but made a huge difference Before:... - Didn’t have to many issues with his initial takeaway position, but you’ll see it’s looking different in the after picture (for a reason) - When the lead arm is parallel to the ground, you’ll see his lead wrist in quite a bit of extension. This gets the club moving into an open position - At the top of the swing, lead wrist is still in extension which orientates the face into a slightly open position and we could argue that’s it’s slightly across the line - Tom has a great movement from the top as he transitions into the downswing but because of his current wrist conditions he opens the face even more - From here, once lead arm gets parallel to the ground, the face is slightly open which stops the body from rotating, and the hands and arms take over which is very difficult to time unless you hit 100s of balls everyday. This causes all sorts of contact and start line issues After: - The main feel we wanted to have was to feel like the lead wrist was in a flatter position throughout the golf swing. To get that, we needed to train in a more flexed position to find our happy medium - We started by placing awareness on where the face was pointing at shaft parallel. We wanted to point the face at ground which created flexion in the lead wrist. - Once in the position, we wanted to feel the wrist remain in flexion and rotate the torso to the top of the swing. As you’ll see, the club face is in a completely different orientation during the backswing - Tommy continued to transition from the top in the same way but because we had improved the wrist angles and club face orientation, the club wasn’t as open during the downswing - Due to the club being more square coming into impact, you’ll see how the body has reacted by increasing the amount of rotation and right side bend. The other thing to look at is his footwork improvements at impact (right heel) Very subtle changes lead to huge changes in other areas. What’s better is I got some pretty nice text messages 24hrs after this session stating that it was the first time in 18 months that he had enjoyed a game of golf
01.01.2022 Few swings from WGC Junior this morning. Working on his grip which is something I don’t do very often. Grips, wrist angles and body pivots play a huge roll in h...ow we deliver the club. Sometimes a tweak in how the player holds the club can help multiple areas and movements improve... We kill 5 birds with 1 stone (PS: Please don’t kill birds with stones)
